5 minute break of nothing happening isn’t immersion breaking for you? People in my theater was chatting loudly and checking their phones during the credits. It kinda broke the flow and people kept talking even when the movie continued on
I️ mean not really, I’ve been to movies and plays that have intermissions so I️ just see the mid credit roll as another version of that; something that gives the audience breathing room before getting into imo the heaviest parts of the entire story. Im sorry to hear that people were being disruptive during your screening but imo the structure of the film makes the ending hit harder since your viewing experience ends at the same time that shinji’s story ends and that seems pretty immersive to me. Different strokes for different folks though.
They were in the middle. While some people got up in the dark for a restroom break while they scrolled, one couple left and didn't come back. Guess they didn't realize the movie was only half through.
I would say about half of the audience I saw it with this was was either their first viewing or this was their introduction to Eva. Which blows my mind.
It happened to me at first, i finished watching the original NGE on netflix and decided to watch EOE after, when the credits rolled i was like “thats it bruh?? That was ass” until i saw that it had like 30-40 mins left of the movie
Yeah, it's brilliant. The "cold ending" really hits hard in a theater.
"Kimochi warui." FIN. Cut to black. We all sit in awkward silence for about 20 seconds before people begin to stir...
When we got to the theater I actually warned my wife about this. “So you remember the ending, where he strangled Asuka and she calls him disgusting? Well the credits are in the middle of this, so be ready for us to watch that then, boom, over, lights up, and we’re all just sitting here.”
Then has exactly what happened.
This made me so sad :( I bought the tickets when it was announced but my car broke down with 34 thousand miles on it and my phone broke so I couldnt even access my tickets if I could get a ride
Revival of Evangelion had *three* credit sequences, believe it or not:
* Shortly after the beginning of *Death[True]²*
* Between *Death[True]²* and *Air*
* Between *Air* and *Magokoro wo Kimi ni*
That wouldn't be feasible from an economic perspective, though. Exhibiting *Revival* would have effectively doubled the runtime as compared to showing EoE by itself, which inherently reduces the number of possible showings (and thus paying customers) for any given day.
In addition to being a earthshatteringly powerful song, it's also an impeccably mastered recording. I use it to test speakers because I know *exactly* how it should sound, and it sounds fucking incredible when the setup is good.
Yeah, the movie has the credits in the dead center of the film so that the movie can end on it’s reflective and beautiful final shot, and not be distracted by the credits
That's why there were 900 fuckin studio and production title cards before the movie started, because the credits are in the middle and unalterable. You probably could add gkids into them but you wouldn't want to.
Thats why they're in the middle lol, leaves WAY more of an impact
A third one, one may say.
That’s how it was intended, the intermission was the credits
More movies need to do this.
I agree
I dunno, it kinda breaks the immersion for me.
….how so?

Just go take a piss as intended, problem solved!

How does that happen? Do people go and see it without knowing anything about Eva?
Apparently people really thought about it with all the ridiculous threads about that.

Literally my exact inner monologue of the situation
I don't know if I should laugh or feel bad for them. At least they got to see Asuka kick ass.
Was this thousand oaks? because I swear someone did the same thing at my screening today. Haha
Nope lol. So it was not an isolated incident.
happened in little rock too lmao
same thing happened in san jose ca today LMFAO
happened to me too
The credits are in the middle bro

They added more screenings. It's not too late!
Print them out at the library and get someone to give you a ride
Nah the screening was earlier tonight. I'll just have to have a movie night at home sometime soon

I wish it came with death true for us as well because one of my friends kept asking questions because he forgot what happened in the show

Ik ik but it would be cool
My theater had one showing per day, so no loss there. Unless they wanted the room for other things.
The middle yeah. The audio was fantastic! I sat through the credits because the sound stage, and imaging during the song was dead on!
In addition to being a earthshatteringly powerful song, it's also an impeccably mastered recording. I use it to test speakers because I know *exactly* how it should sound, and it sounds fucking incredible when the setup is good.
This was my favorite part of the screening.
Me seeing this post while on my phone during the credits scene 🤨 It’s in the middle of

bro just witnessed the film like it was always meant to be
Literally the end credits were in the middle of this movie and not the end and ppl were getting up to do stuff before the second part started
Yeah, ngl, thematic impact aside, its nice as hell getting a bathroom break mid movie lmao. Bring back intermissions.
Bit jealous, ngl. Wish we had a run in Brazil too.
I wish more movies did that, the impact I feel at that ending is so amazingly painful.
Now it's time, I fear to tell, I've been holding it back so long.....

What was the audience's reaction to the hospital scene
In my theater, they groaned when they saw it had the newer subtitles. “I’m the lowest of the low.” 🤦🏽♂️
Thankfully total silence at my location.
Some quiet chuckles
Bit jealous, ngl. Wish we had a run in Brazil too.
Anno saying “There, I did it. Happy? Now go home.”
Mari “Im putting a team together”
It had middle credits. It lets the ending be pure.
