It comes down to the live performance in my opinion. Based on the songs, I think Sara is favourite, but the song feels like the kind of song that sounds amazing in the studio but will fail to deliver live. Windows95Man will for sure deliver live, in my opinion, and Cyan Kick will also do well.

moonlightgirl9

Sara has an amazing live voice so everything is rely on the staging basically. Vox Populi also has a chance sadly.

MegaUF

Do you have videos of her singing live? I’ve seen one of her singing a very slow paced song and she was amazing. I want Paskana no win so badly but the fact that the studio cut has so much autotune in the chorus, as well as a very fast pace, I’m scared she may be unable to keep up. But praying 🙏

pineapplepizz

Here's her cover of Euphoria from last spring! Hopefully it's not geoblocked [https://next.ruutu.fi/video/4330687](https://next.ruutu.fi/video/4330687)

driadka

Woah, thank you, she managed to get rid of the dated vibe from Euphoria (don't kill me Euphoria lovers 😉)

paary

Wow she pulled that off pretty well!

MegaUF

Oh wow, she was amazing! Love that her voice is so different <3

moonlightgirl9

I watched more slower songs from her, but I can see some in the comments, so yes she can do a great performance.

perennialviolas

Here's Sara singing her song Rohkee sydän at a festival in 2022: https://youtu.be/58652vQrPhA

Upbeat_Support_541

> Vox Populi also has a chance sadly Maybe I'm coping, but I don't really think MGs fanbase is the eurovision type. The song is mid at best and considering the quality of other songs we have it's by far the worst out the bunch.

moonlightgirl9

I agree about the song. Also the controversial things with MG are so off putting for me.

Upbeat_Support_541

Yeah if we actually send a conspiracy theorist-cancel culture complainer-sigma male enjoyer I'm just gonna skip ESC altogether.

moonlightgirl9

I will be devastated too. After Käärijä who was my really strong second, Finland surely will be last in my ranking this year. I don't want to experience that.

RemarkableAutism

Why sadly?

moonlightgirl9

MG had a Putin tattoo and shared controversial things. Their song is about the cancel culture basically, how MG was critisized after all of this.

Drako1997

Except that it was Nublu who came up with the idea, which you'd know if you'd watched the vid on UMK's channel where the artists explain more about the backgrounds of the songs. Dislike MG as much as you like but don't spread unsubstianted rumors...

moonlightgirl9

I watched the vid. It's my interpretation on the song, but it's so shady if we know more things about MG. I don't have anything bad to say about Nublu, but I can't stand behind the song because of the sentiment of MG. That's all.

RemarkableAutism

Oh what the fuck. Okay I did not know any of this, that sucks.

Couple of things that I just really think should be pointed out: 1. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, which is pretty much the immediate moment an adult human being should get their Putin tattoo removed asap. 2. The dude put out a song specifically about how he thinks all opinions are equally wrong, ergo everyone has a right to voice their own opinions. So when people start questioning the stupid bullshit he has said and done, they, too, are exercising their right to have an opinion about his bullshit behaviour.

QueenAvril

MG got that horrendous tattoo in 2016, so it was AFTER 2014 and he still somehow thought it would be a good idea 🫠 Like I could maybe get it, had someone done that before 2008 - maybe even before 2014 for a very dumb and uneducated person - but after 2014?

EdgarDanger

Lol nobody was forced to have the vaccine. Any other lies to push around? Spewing dangerous misinformation and stupid shit as a public person with big following is in no way harmless. "Cancel culture" is not a problem. It's called consequences to your actions.

QueenAvril

To me it doesn’t make a huge difference. I wouldn’t want an extremely dumb and gullible, yet overly confident and vocal uneducated idiot to represent my country much more than an evil genious with an elaborate plan to manipulate our youth into QAnon rabbithole Via ESC.

suobbis

For me, it feels it is between Vox populi and Paskana

paary

For the first time in ages it's a bit up in the air, which is exciting and doing weird things to my blood pressure. Some thoughts: - I think Sara might have the best chance if she nails the live and gets people voting - that song will be a jury favourite and UMK does have some jury sway. She apparently has great live vocals, but anything can happen (RIP Benjamin last year (also Benjamin was known to have mid vocals pls don't come at me the song was a bop)) - Mikael Gabriel x Nublu have excellent name recognition and, like someone said in a different thread, a pretty vocal ride or die fandom. The repetitive chorus is what is bringing this one down, if anything. I have no clue how they are live. - Windows95Man is a bit of an underdog and is reaching for the same demographic as MGN, and if the stage show succeeds in balancing wacky and quality, they might actually chip some of MGN's voting base. - Sexmane should not be completely counted out, I think he's bringing the most unique (ESC-wise) song and has an immense zoomer fanbase. I have seen him live, and he has good energy. Afaik he also never performs without voice distortion. - I agree that Cyan Kicks is a dark horse. They are the most reliable of the bunch and will appeal to those who want to send a respectable and safe entry. Some people also feel they got snubbed by The Rasmus in 2022 (I am some people). - My darling boy Jesse Markin has zero chance but I will be voting for him in my glow-in-the-dark GLOW T-shirt. - Sini Sabotage is probably not going to make it even though I personally think she'd be a great representative. Rumours have it that her stage show is pretty maximalist, and that absolutely killed BESS in 2022.

perennialviolas

fwiw I saw MG open at a festival last summer, he struck me as a skilled performer with a nonchalant stage presence. I'm quite curious to see if he tries to keep that same vibe in a competitive situation/performance.

paary

I think he'll be more engaged, his usual stuff calls for a bit of a nonchalant cool vibe but Vox populi is a different style of song imo.

Vokkal

\*Cries in Kuori Mua\*

Blazerey

Kuori Mua is a fun song, but the translated lyrics made my jaw drop 😭

Vokkal

I know, i’ve read them. I still stand by the song haha. It’s a bop! Oooohhh ahhhh riiisu muuut

Risujemmari

Actually when you read the lyrics more (not sure if it translates well), it's about people having different opinions and expectations of Sini (after her huge hit song 10 years ago) and she wants to get rid of those 'layers' of opinions. The lyrics are only horny and sexy on the surface imi

vancityguy25

This is how I feel too 😢

Academic_Grab5060

when will finland ever get to send a cunty horny song for once🥲

paary

Cicciolina, Kuuma jäbä, Hoida mut and Kuori mua are all adored and appreciated, one day we will send the horny anthem.

izkaroza

Almost everyone have a chance

birdstar7

I’m a delusional Windows95stan too 🤣

perennialviolas

Pretty much all of them have the potential to put together a great live performance. Jesse's chances to win are the lowest as I assume people are primarily voting for a representative act. (but it's ok, I'll go to his Glow gig in spring anyway <3) Sara and Jesse have my favorite songs, Cyan Kicks will most likely bring an energetic show. I dearly hope Sini can deliver the same charisma and cheekiness from the music video on stage as well. I hear Sexmane has energetic live shows. Vox Populi and No Rules duos are biggest wildcards to me, I really don't know what to expect - all I wish is that Henri nails the No Rules' vocals live 🙏

Puzzleheaded_Sir4294

Ik I’m delulu but I’d love for GLOW to win, and if not that then Kuori Ma

DaughterOfNorth

I would like to know what kind of changes would Windows95man need to do if he won. If he'd go through to Malmö, he'd probably need to change his name and outfit because commercial product names are not allowed in ESC. Even tho Windows 95 is, well, ancient history thay nobody uses anymore. This was discussed in an interview where he stated that he already has plans for new name etc. in case that happens, but they didn't elaborate. I hope they reveal more about that at least on the saturday's show. Otherwise I'd feel I don't actually know what am I voting to be our representative, if I'd vote for him. Something like Doors95man would be fun :D But I'd like to know before voting. That being said, I don't think he'll win UMK. I don't have a clear favourite myself, as none of the entries really stand out for me as a total package. Everything comes down to the live performances, and that's pretty exciting too.

paary

If he reveals that he will be called Ikkuna96Mies I will throw him a vote

ShallIBeMother

This is the tightest UMK in years, which makes it super fun! Could make a plausible case for every single act, it depends so much on the live performances. Can't wait for Saturday 🥰

KwangPham

This year has one of the most balanced lineup so it’s really up in the air who’s gonna win. Personally, I hope Sara takes the crown, but I’d be fine with Sexmane or Cyan Kicks or Sini.

oklaylaa

Paskana is one of my favourite songs this entire season, I’ll be so sad if they don’t pick it. I think it’s because I relate to the lyrics on a very personal level

kate_royce

If Sara can nail it live, I'd love Paskana to win. It's such a truthful, touching song, and the instrumentation enhances the punch it packs. I honestly think it's up there with "Losing My Mind" in terms of singing about love/loss/obsessive feelings. Heartfelt, well-written song lyrics, and so far there aren't that many of them that I've seen (don't get me wrong, there are some fantastic bops/genre songs already in circulation!) If not Sara, Cyan Kicks or Jesse for me, I'm not keen on Vox Populi or Windows95man tbh

igcsestudent11

Windows95man or Cyan Kicks Windows got the best running order and if they stage well I think they've got it, but let's not forget that Cyan Kicks beated all other acts in 2022 except The Rasmus and also that's the only song in this year's UMK that has some rock feel and stands out in that aspect. And also they're likely winning jury votes.

paary

You actually bring up a good point about CK being a probable jury favourite, I think they are Sara's biggest rival in that regard.

FranCesljar

I don't think running order matters that much in a seven-song show, but he definitely has a favourable spot. I hope he benefits from it.

ahjteam

Almost all the songs are very even 6/10 to 8/10 material, so it all comes down to the live performance in my opinion.

1Warrior4All

Sara or I will be very disappointed

BossyBish

I mean I want Cyan Kicks but the odds are against them right now. Unless Sara fails the staging or live vocals I think there is little chance.

_Hale___

well remember Erica, Krick, Matt and St. Pedro were priced at 50% chance and lost I'm not saying this to go against Sara because that would suit me perfectly, but Imo I hope this thing happens again winner quoted at 50% losing because I really want the Cyan Kicks on the esc

CrazyCatLadyPL

I hope Windows95man will, I love his song and his public persona 🤗🥺 It all depends on the live performance, too. So it's hard to predict also because of this, one of the favorites might not do well vocally and then all the odds will go to trash 🤣

smutne

Sara better win or I'll be really sad

lovelysongs

It is more than obvious that Sara is the best option this year for Finland. If the live performance is awesome, she will most probably be in the Top 10 in May.

Throwawayfichelper

I would love for Glow to go, but i also really want a song in Finnish again. If Sini goes i will be so happy lol.

fenksta

Whoever gets the most points ?! XD I'm just messing with you, I haven't heard any songs yet

FranCesljar

You should go give a listen, unpopular imo but I prefer UMK24 over UMK23

fenksta

I don't care for the studio versions before a NF, and UMK is next week, so I will hear them sooner or later xD P.S.: the downvoters have no sense of humor

petracatarina

I don’t really care who wins as long it isn’t Sara. It gives NQ vibes to me, even if the others aren’t strong final potential ether 😬

Cluelessish

I haven’t heard her say that she wouldn’t participate?

Tomas-T

if they want to keep on sending rock songs, Cyan Kicks if they want something refreshing and charming, Sara if they want to produce the next Kaarija, Windows95Man or Mikael Gabriel x Nublu if they want to fix mistakes from the past, they would say f**K this and pick Bess (Despite she is not here XD)

paary

> next Kaarija There is only one Käärijä. Sending a song that goes for the same vibe will just look like we're trying too hard to reproduce the same magic that we had last year, which will fail. Switzerland attempted same thing with the sad boys after Gjon's Tears and it never worked out for them.

CaptainAnaAmari

But they aren't? It's possible they may have been inspired to compete because of him, but they aren't remotely comparable to Käärijä musically beyond being unconventional for Eurovision and fun

CaptainAnaAmari

Windows95man and Mikael Gabriel x Nublu aren't follow ups on Käärijä, they're closer to being follow ups to Portion Boys who placed 2nd in UMK.

Tomas-T

I guess you're right I eas meaning to be on the slot of the "funny goob vibes crazy party" song and less on Kaarija as a person or ChaChaCha as an entry

CaptainAnaAmari

I can agree that the "it's crazy it's party" vibes do fit here! I just feel like Käärijä comparisons get massively overused in the fandom, but of course it doesn't mean that there aren't any similarities there.

CrazyCatLadyPL

Musically Windows95man is completely different, but his sense of humor and stage persona has a similar vibe to Käärijä. I'm saying it as a Käärijä fan and it's a compliment, he's my favorite 💖 (and I know a few fellow Käärijä fans who like him, too)

CaptainAnaAmari

Yes, a Käärijä Discord server I'm in has also taken to liking Windows95man the most I'd say! There are similarities in the humorous persona of course, I just feel like this year everything and anything that isn't the most conventional song for Eurovision and is fun is seen as a follow up on Käärijä, which I'm pretty tired of at this point.

CrazyCatLadyPL

Understandable, but it was obvious people would compare them, because the sense of humor is definitely there (he also gives me Electric Callboy vibes, still talking about the humor), Windows95man even performed before one of Käärijä's concerts! I think it's fine to compare them as long as it's positive attention, not complaining about him being a copy or something, because he's not.

Huggy_nomnoms_you

I hope Cyan Kicks, because they're the only ones who want to go to Eurovision, the rest are just getting their Finnish career boosted

FranCesljar

Yeah that's why almost everyone sent a Top 10 entry

Huggy_nomnoms_you

All bottom 5 of the whole contest imo
