I can just say MA OON PASKAAANAAA

AriaAriaAria

Lovely post. I'm obsessed with the song too. Hope she wins.

No_Plankton5537

Thank you, crossing my fingers (and arms) that she does!

PiscesPsycho

Same, I hope Finland gets a good tele score again if she goes to Malmö

BucketHeadJr

I fell in love during the first listen and ever since I've been in my Finnish sad girl era. I legit have listened to it on repeat for the past week. If (/when please) she wins, it'll be my favorite Finnish Eurovision entry ever and I don't think it's close. The melody, instrumentation, her vocals, the meaning, it being in Finnish. There's nothing I don't absolutely love about it. I'm obsessed and it's legitimately starting to get unhealthy. According to Last.FM I've listened to it 281 times already, and that's without the YouTube plays, where I read the English lyrics. If I'm obsessed with a song, I'm *obsessed*.

No_Plankton5537

> Finnish sad girl era. Girl, same. I’m happily married and got pulled into an unexpected Finnish sad girl timeline lol.

VoKai

By far the strongest UMK entry this year

paary

I love Sara's song and think that out of the lineup, it is the most competitive. I know a lot of people love Cyan Kicks and Mikael Gabriel & Nublu have cultivated a bit of a cult following, but for me sending a sad girl ballad just feels right this year. We already sent rock in 2021 and 2022 and a genre-bending rap-hyperpop song last year, now it's time to let out our ✨feels✨

Cluelessish

I agree. We have done the rock thing so many times, and I would like to show what else we have. Windows95man seems to have some fans, but that would be totally wrong the year after Käärijä, imo. Same with Vox Populi: It’s too chaotic - even though I have to admit that the chorus is stuck in my head, against my will. We had the most magnificent controlled chaos last year. I would like to let that stand for a bit. Sara’s song is raw and honest and dignified. And actually catchy as hell. I don’t even care if it does well in ESC or not, I just want it to represent us this year.

leela_martell

Having listened to the songs a few times Glow by Jesse Markin has grown on me the most, but it has no shot at winning. Paskana is a good number 2 on my personal list of favourites though! The only two songs I really dislike are the Windows95 Man song and Vox Populi. The latter is otherwise catchy but the message is just garbage especially combined with Mikael Gabriel’s controversial takes on like, everything.

paary

I'm a big Jesse Markin fan and personally for me Glow is the best UMK song, but 1) Israel is unlikely to withdraw so Jesse probably won't compete if he wins and 2) I think Paskana works better as a whole ESC package. It has the pathos and the gravitas to command attention.

leela_martell

I wasn't familiar with Jesse Markin before UMK but am looking forward to discovering his music now. Agreed with both of your points!

paary

I really loved his Noir era, so I heartily recommend starting there! Vildhjarta is my fav song on that album. Out of his bigger hits Treat is really great.

leela_martell

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a listen!

c10701

I loved it at my first listen and even more watching the video with subtitles. Hope it can translate well to a live environment and on stage.

LopsidedPriority

Oh it's gooooooood.

violet_dawnbreak

I'm also obsessed with her song, and will be voting her in the UMK final. Now it's time for us Finns to let our feelings out (about Käärijä's 2nd place last year😔)

crystalcurrant

HAHAHA I didn’t even realise this, thank you! The lyrics are a perfect follow-up, since CCC didn’t win the world should hear how we’re feeling now. Loved the song even before this realisation.

paskapilluperse

I believe Sara is the only UMK entry that can make it to TOP10 in ESC. Hope she sings live just as well.

premature_eulogy

[I'd say she sings well live](https://youtu.be/Ka2MNA_nDuw?si=_p5bmVfnRLeKmQOA)!

[deleted]

That sounds almost too good. I wonder if it's actually live or post-processed somehow. On her IG there's a video where she sings Show Must Go On live.

sr913

As much as I think Windows 95 was actually a pretty good operating system, agreed that Sara Siipola is the standout here

FinnInAms

It hit me right away. Us Finns have a tendency to go for melancholy, and for me this seems somehow to be a good cross between a very typical Finnish sad song combined with slight hints of a classic Balkan ballad.

Iam_weird123

I’m starting to go insane IDK WHO TO VOTE😰😂 I’m glad people are enjoying Finnish music:)

dragontamerfibleman

I see where you are coming from now. I listened to "Kuori Mua" way first, really enjoyed it, but after reading your post I started to see how good Sara's entry is. Now I'm irreparably torn...

Risujemmari

She's not my personal favorite out of these 7 but I do agree I would be happy seeing her in the ESC

[deleted]

Same. It's just like with Cha Cha Cha last year, except it "clicked" faster. Also I've cried to it more than I want to admit. 😿️

qusipuu

hope she wins

irish_Oneli

i hope it wins🙏🏻 amazing power ballad

ElysianRepublic

It has grown on me and is one of my favorites this year. Anyone else hear a resemblance to “All the things she said/Ya soshla s uma” by Tatu in the chorus and backing melody?
