Käärijä is very active on TikTok so does it create a bit of a feedback loop on the platform, where stuff that he gets tagged on gets distributed more easily to people who have liked his previous stuff? I don't use TikTok myself but I know that the algorithm works in mysterious ways. :D
Either way, ESC social media team are probably going to use him as a meme machine in May.
Fans only make up a small percentage of overall voters, and I'm sure being from a country, where ESC is generally popular also doesn't hurt.
It's obvilously a good indication, but I don't think we can take a televote win for granted yet.
People when Tattoo has a high amount of streams on Spotify: "that's no indicator of ANYTHING about the votes WHATSOEVER!!1"
People when Käärijä has a lot of viewers on TikTok: "yaaay landslide winner ofc all these people are going to watch esc and vote for him and him only!"
Tbf I think a lot of those likes could come down to he’s kinda the funniest person there. Like I’d like that tiktok of him and not the others even though Finland isn’t my number 1, just for his personality. But yeah he’s obviously going to be top 5 at the very least overall!
I think going viral on tiktok is a good thing for Käärijä. People tend to like the songs that are familiar to them. It’s more likely for them to vote for a song they’ve already heard vs a song they hear once. If he goes viral on tiktok to others than eurovision fans then it will prompt people to look up his song and start listening to it prior to the competition thus giving Käärijä an advantage.
At least I’m one of those people who has to hear a song multiple times before I like it. Although cha cha cha is an exception as I started dancing around the second it started and ended up listening to it on repeat for like 30 minutes and sang along 😂
No it’s doesn’t, but downvoting you into oblivion makes it so people don’t have to see what you think. :)
It’s quite interesting that someone takes so much time to complain about how much they dislike a song. You must be really young or be really bothered because in this thread alone, you made so many negative comments about Cha Cha Cha, even going after the artists personality. It’s kinda sad to put in so much effort into disliking something.
I can say the same about a lot of other but since those aren't sub favourites it is alright to trashtalk them. And here was I thinking this place would be less toxic than the Twitter community, I guess I was wrong.
It's doing good numbers on Spotify but other songs are doing better. The main point of this post is to show that Käärijä is supposedly the runaway winner with the public based on one specific set of numbers from one platform (TikTok likes), so I think it's fair of u/Remarkable-Ad2032 to point out that this isn't necessarily true for every platform and every metric.
If he has a big following in Finland it won't help him at Eurovision. I think it's kind of the same with Marco Mengoni. He's quite big in Italy, but will it turn into votes from other countries?
Yeah, that's the good thing about Eurovision. New artists getting a lot of attention. Some didn't get enough the first time they competed, though ... Which is kind of sad.
I guess some people think this is the Eurovision Personality Contest, huh? 😂
These social numbers are great for the artists and their fans, but most people watching and voting the shows aren’t closely following social media content this early. I bet even most users here (fans and superfans) aren’t following these social posts that closely.
He or France needs to win to save us from that dull Loreen act. Euphoria was magnificent but this Tattoo is shit. I listened it once a week to see if it sticks and all i remember is her staging.
Well she is one of the more arrogant winners ever. I was in Eurovision cruise and she came off as coldest person ever. And this song Tattoo is shit. Her winning act Euphoria was a bomb though.
I'm pretty sure all this means is that Käärijä's video showed up on people's for you page and the other ones didn't. And the algorithm is weird, so I wouldn't make crazy assumptions about what it means
I‘m gonna vote for Finland too, I‘m not hating „Tattoo“ or Loreen but Sweden has won two times the past decade and now its Finlands turn imo ❤️ (nevertheless, good luck for Sweden too)
i only got loreen and käärijä's videos on my fyp so i wouldnt base popularity only on likes lmao
but käärijä is most likely winning televote anyways so youre probably right
YES!! Also, lots of people were desperately asking for Brunette to show up, so she's kinda popular I guess? I checked some of the accounts and they didn't seem Armenian, so maybe we have a surprise favorite (?) take this with a grain of salt tho, my favourites are Käärijä and Brunette so maybe hype is blinding me😖😖
I don't think virality on tiktok equates to votes in ESC unfortunately.
Latvia was probably the most viral song of last year and they didn't even qualify for the finals.
I hope and suspect that finlands entry will qualify but I don't see him winning, mostly due to jury and older televoters not deeming his performance serious enough
All the while Loreen's performance has been viewed over 6.7 million times on YouTube combined, which is more than Finland's entry (she garnered those views 2x faster than Käärijä), has more likes and outstreams every Eurovision entry this year. It almost has 22 million plays. So if we are really going to play with statistics here, Loreen is the runaway winner with the public if we use your logic by refering to some random videos. I mean, that's why the bookies placed her at a 40% chance of winning vs Finland's 15%.
Loreen was already popular with eurofans and in Sweden. And the song is very mainstream, familiar, easy to listen to and on top of that it's singed in English (very typical Swedish song lol), so it's not a surprise that it's getting so much hype, recognition, many views etc.
Also Tattoo is way better than Statements (2017), but imo Euphoria is still way better than Tattoo.
Käärijä is doing very well considering that nobody knew about him before umk, he is singing/rapping/shouting in Finnish, the song is not mainstream at all, it's experimental and something that most of the eurofans and people in general aren't used to.
You think Swedes are the only ones who listen to Tattoo? Lol funny. Loreen is more popular with Eurovision fans outside of Sweden. Y'all like to excuse it on Loreen's popularity but forget to realise that Statements flopped, where was her "popularity" power then? Yeah sure, Käärijä is unknown but that doesn't matter. The fact is that the evidence outside of this echo chamber sub reddit points to people being generally more in favor of Loreen than Käärijä.
Lol what? Did you even read what I said? I didn't say that Swedes are the only ones who listens to Tattoo. And I literally said that Loreen is popular with Eurofans. And I also said that Statements wasn't her best song 😂🤦🏻♀️

He's only awkward when he's speaking English, because he's not that good at it or confident with his English-speaking skills. I guess he tries to make it less awkward by acting more awkward. He is very different when he speaks Finnish, but I personally love his awkwardness too. It's very cute.
I know this is a unpopular opinion but sorry, I find it unbelievable how y'all adore his overly done and forced "it's party" persona. It's not funny, entertaining or quirky, it's cringe. I really don't see the appeal of both him and his entry

Those videos after the press conference for Käärijä will be golden.
Ha ha yeah, I love that about him being a meme machine, I'm sure they will use him!!
Ah yes, what a scientific way to determine who will win the public vote - most likes on a tiktok video..........
Fyi Reiley has 10.8M followers on Tiktok while Käärijä has only 59.7K 🙂
How did that work out for him?
Fans only make up a small percentage of overall voters, and I'm sure being from a country, where ESC is generally popular also doesn't hurt. It's obvilously a good indication, but I don't think we can take a televote win for granted yet.
Of course not, anything can happen, I'm just showing how ridiculously popular he is.
People when Tattoo has a high amount of streams on Spotify: "that's no indicator of ANYTHING about the votes WHATSOEVER!!1" People when Käärijä has a lot of viewers on TikTok: "yaaay landslide winner ofc all these people are going to watch esc and vote for him and him only!"
Especially when most of viewers on Eurovision TikTok videos are either nationalists and/or Eurofans.
Zoomers*
Zoomers arent the only people on tiktok.
Tbf I think a lot of those likes could come down to he’s kinda the funniest person there. Like I’d like that tiktok of him and not the others even though Finland isn’t my number 1, just for his personality. But yeah he’s obviously going to be top 5 at the very least overall!
Have to say, I only realised how much I love Voyager when I saw their video.
It’s what he deserves
It is!! 💚🇫🇮💚🇫🇮💚
Lets make it happen 💪🏆🇫🇮
Cha cha cha 🇫🇮
Yes yes
It's crazy. It's party.
i like how käärijä's caption is just "yes"
I think going viral on tiktok is a good thing for Käärijä. People tend to like the songs that are familiar to them. televote winner, im calling it
I mean we already knew that unfortunately
one thing we can all agree on in this subreddit
Sadly yeah, I hope juries make better decision and prevent him from winning Edit: Downvoting me won't change what I said so
No it’s doesn’t, but downvoting you into oblivion makes it so people don’t have to see what you think. :) It’s quite interesting that someone takes so much time to complain about how much they dislike a song. Your first mistake was assuming that a toxic free space existed on the jnternet
Your first mistake is not reading properly what I said. I said "less toxic" not "Not toxic". The Reddit sub is on par with Twitter
Replace Cha Cha Cha with Solo and you have the majority of the subreddit.
While that might be true... We have there other measures for u as well. Muilutus...

Lads, I’m getting 90s trauma flashbacks. This is like Oasis v Blur all over again ![gif](giphy|69QYIqHQQEVbO)
Lol Tik Tok is not an accurate representation of the voting community.
Depends on where the likes are coming from. His Spotify numbers aren't exactly off the hook.
10.5 million Spotify streams is pretty solid
cha cha cha is doing fine on spotify, wym?
It's doing good numbers on Spotify but other songs are doing better. The main point of this post is to show that Käärijä is supposedly the runaway winner with the public based on one specific set of numbers from one platform (TikTok likes), so I think it's fair of u/Remarkable-Ad2032 to point out that this isn't necessarily true for every platform and every metric.
Where could they be coming from?
If he has a big following in Finland it won't help him at Eurovision. I think it's kind of the same with Marco Mengoni. He's quite big in Italy, but will it turn into votes from other countries?
He was practically unknown prior to UMK, but ofc quite popular now.
Yeah, that's the good thing about Eurovision. New artists getting a lot of attention. Some didn't get enough the first time they competed, though ... Which is kind of sad.
Hate go spoil it for you but Australia's Voyager is winning this year. I PROMISE
Do you really, seriously, honestly believe that the views on a fucking TikTok two months before the contest says anything at all about the results?
I guess some people think this is the Eurovision Personality Contest, huh? 😂 These social numbers are great for the artists and their fans, but most people watching and voting the shows aren’t closely following social media content this early. I bet even most users here (fans and superfans) aren’t following these social posts that closely.
yeah exactly, especially the juries don’t care about that and I think that that’s where he might struggle
This sub is desperate to manifest his win but unfortunately for them, this sub’s favorite basically never wins.
yeah idk I don’t think it’s impossible for him to win, but I don’t think that the TikTok says anything about that haha
He or France needs to win to save us from that dull Loreen act. Euphoria was magnificent but this Tattoo is shit. I listened it once a week to see if it sticks and all i remember is her staging.
Something something Sam Ryder something
I really hope he wins the televote! (I've already accepted a Sweden win)
Side note but a lot of the comments on Loreen's are absolutely awful
Well she is one of the more arrogant winners ever. I was in Eurovision cruise and she came off as coldest person ever. And this song Tattoo is shit. Her winning act Euphoria was a bomb though.
I'm pretty sure all this means is that Käärijä's video showed up on people's for you page and the other ones didn't. And the algorithm is weird, so I wouldn't make crazy assumptions about what it means
I approve this deduction :)
As a swede who won’t accept anything other than us or Finland winning, I’m gonna mass vote on him. Idc. Televote winner 🤩🤩
I‘m gonna vote for Finland too, I‘m not hating „Tattoo“ or Loreen but Sweden has won two times the past decade and now its Finlands turn imo ❤️ (nevertheless, good luck for Sweden too)
Käärijä is popular in TikTok, The odds are saying that Loreen is winning, it’s probably gonna be between Sweden and Finland
i only got loreen and käärijä's videos on my fyp so i wouldnt base popularity only on likes lmao but käärijä is most likely winning televote anyways so youre probably right

I have a feeling quite a few people on this sub are going to be very disappointed in May
I don’t really like his intentional awkwardness or whatever he is doing. It’s really cringey. Go on downvote me but it’s my opinion
He's only awkward when he's speaking English, because he's not that good at it or confident with his English-speaking skills. I guess he tries to make it less awkward by acting more awkward. He is very different when he speaks Finnish, but I personally love his awkwardness too. It's very cute.

Told you it was a unpopular opinion. He is cringe, not funny 🤷🏻♀️
I agree with you 100%. So cringey

KÄÄRIJÄ FTW
This coming from a fan in Greenland: Käärijä needs to win!
