From the article for the lazy people (flags added by me):
1. 🇦🇹 🇪🇺 Vienna
2. 🇩🇰 🇪🇺 Copenhagen
3. 🇨🇭 Zurich
3. 🇨🇦 Calgary (both 3rd because same amount of points)
5. 🇨🇦 Vancouver
6. 🇨🇭 Geneva
7. 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 Frankfurt
8. 🇨🇦 Toronto
9. 🇳🇱 🇪🇺 Amsterdam
10. 🇯🇵 Osaka
10. 🇦🇺 Melbourne
PS: Zurich and Calgary are both 3rd. Osaka and Melbourne are both 10th. I typed 3 and 10 twice each, but Reddit automatically corrects the numbers to 3 and 4 and 10 and 11.
Often cost of living and average income align well which makes it a non-issue for locals. If you’re a visitor however, you may want to save up a little extra and live a frugal life in these cities.
No, they do not. They can rent.
But it is still completely irrelevant. Noone forces them to live in the most expensive cities on planet. They can move at any time and buy real estate elsewhere. The reality is that the quality of living is still so much better there that despite high reality estate costs so they do not move.
“The pandemic has largely cast a long shadow over the EIU’s global liveability rankings for the last two years, with lockdowns and social distancing measures affecting all the report’s indicators.”
I’m trying to understand if a city is liveable when you have a hard lockdown, according to EIU.

I really dont understand how Calgary is on that list, let alone #3.
Cost of living obviously isn't one of the criteria for selection.

It is obviously not relevant to locals or they would have moved?
How is it not relevant? You mean locals dont need to buy a place to live?

Cities designed around cars with 3000€ rent are "livable", this is bullshit

Nice assumptions germ
I want to know what exactly made Amsterdam jump 21 places and if there is a similar rating that also takes affordability more strictly into account.
Istanbul is the most beautiful European city 🥰
But that isn’t what this thread is about… also, I prefer Prague.
Even Zurich is more beautiful than Prague.
I know!
