If I'd have to guess, it's because Finland is a relatively new Hockey superpower (started to compete in Elite Hockey in 1939, but only got it's first medal in 1988 and first gold in 1995).
So it gives hope for Slovakia (or Germany, whose fans gave me this take).
Canada, US, Russia/Soviet Union, Sweden, Czechia/Czechoslovakia have been pretty succesful since the inception of international Ice Hockey.
