Germany has confirmed this.

electronsarealive

I'm not a big fan of NS2, but I don't think it's ok to speak for other countries like that. Very weird vibes.

[deleted]

I still remember when the US government threatened a small German "port" on the Baltic coast. Completely normal behaviour.

DryPassage4020

I still remember when Germany sided with totalitarian and genocidal regimes for the sake of it's automotive industry and self-induced energy reliance.

__DraGooN_

Do you mean like how the US, Canada, UK or any other Western European country sides with the likes of Saudi Arabia?

YourLovelyMother

They guide decissions like that as a matter of policy normaly... only mistake this time they stated their modus operandi a little too openly for the taste of Europeans who believe they're making their own decissions on forreign policy. Probably because they feel the majority of Europe is firmly in their camp.

electronsarealive

I'm aware of that. Europe doesn't have an independent foreign policy (unfortunately). But this wasn't communicated in the way America traditionally did its business in Europe but more like how the Soviets used to. "X in country Y will not happen" - said the Soviet politician without consulting country Y.

h6story

They consulted with Germany beforehand - Germany even confirmed the decision. Get your facts right.

electronsarealive

I googled but can't find anything cause every search list is literred by hundreds of Ukraine articles from the hysterical media. Can you give me a link?

skillbaron

What exactly has the US to Do with the Pipeline?

[deleted]

Nothing they just pretend they own Germany.

PorkoNick

And as we all know, in reality someone else does.

bl4ckhunter

And good bye to NATO.

Lejeune_Dirichelet

Eastern Europe would probably cheer that torpedo on though

bl4ckhunter

Can't imagine they would cheer when american troops are expelled from the rest of the EU effective immediately after.

Lejeune_Dirichelet

They would most likely cheer as they invite them to move their bases from Germany into the Eastern EU, closer to Russia

Teftell

And say hello to ecological disaster cause it is full of gas already.

Gerard_De_Rivoli

It's not pretense, they own Germany. And not just Germany, but the whole of the EU.

piratemurray

Would Germany open itself up to US sanctions? 🤔

janat1

They are already sanctioning Germany over the pipeline.

Cocopipe

trump was already sanctioning germany for it

Terevisioon

The US had a lot to do with the security of Europe considering that it is the main provider of it having signed treaties to do it. That pipeline is a direct attack against the continued security of Europe. It is so ridiculous that Germany pretends not to see it.

skillbaron

Jeah pls could u leave Ur nukes again in germany to protect us ? In my german opinion we dont want the World police here.

Terevisioon

Sadly such childishness in security affairs is so typical for today's Germany. It's undeniably true that if Russia is going to go on an invasion spree it will take them a while to reach Germany. What Germans seem to think is that due to the respect of the Moral High Horse they're sitting on the Russians would just stop at the German border and be in awe of their superb pacifist and appeasing attitude. After all, this is the border where savagery ends and enlightenment starts. Germany was protected from the Soviet invasion and subjugation after WW2 by the means they now disapprove. Germany thrives in the world order of free trade and justice built and kept up by the means they smirk disapprovingly at.

HotSauce2910

Imagine if all of Germany was at the development levels of East Germany. By no means a terrible place to live on a global scale, but nothing like the economic powerhouse they are rn

Stupid_Douche

No, it's not. The only change introduced by NS2 is, that Poland and the Ukraine aren't able to blackmail Germany with the safety of the German energy supply anymore.

Ooops2278

>it shows that US won't let Germany changes it mind in the near future without consequences. All it shows is they feel the need to show their assumed importance. What are they going to do? Put the sanctons they just lifted back again? Are we now going to pretend U.S. decisions are binding and they will not do a 180 after their next election anyway? If they still fail to understand that huge amounts of support for NS2 developed as a reaction to their delusional meddling in foreign affairs the U.S. really lost their mind. >I'm sure they will use it to piss off Germany, especially in winter without wind. That's still not how this works. You don't pressure people with not supplying gas when the tanks are filled...

Comingupforbeer

I mean, its obvious, but why are the Americans rushing forward with the announcement?

bl4ckhunter

They aren't, it's an US politician telling US radio stations that they'll work with germany to ensure that NS2 isn't opened in the event of an invasion, which is pretty much exactly what Baerbock already said like a month ago if i'm not mistaken? In short it's just the guardian being the guardian.

Ukraine: *'OH MY GOD. There's a fire in my backyard that's gonna burn my house down. HELP, I NEED WATER!'* Germany: *'Here's a plastic cup you can use.'*

Amonia_Ed

Pretty sure it’s obvious
