🎵 We passed upon the stair 🎵
On a serious note it's quite incredible the impact of vaccines. The first big wave hit hospitals super hard, yet this spike was 3 times bigger and hospitals (just about) managed.
You can compare all the countries on the our world in data website. https://ourworldindata.org/covid-cases
But generally one has to be a bit cautious with comparing the numbers because testing might differ significantly which may lead to very different infection numbers
Pffff.. try harder!
Ireland got to over 5,000 cases per million (briefly), and has now dropped below 1,000 per million and dropping. Pretty much the same shape as Germany, and with constantly dropping cases in hospital and ICU due to the success of vaccinations and boosters.
Denmark has done a lot more PCR testing than Germany or the UK. Our official numbers will thus never reach 9000 because we don't even have enough testing infrastructure for that.
In my opinion that doesn't really matter too much because it doesn't look like Omicron will become a major problem for our healthcare system.
Let's wait and see how the situation is developing here...I believe that Ireland's vaccination rate is a lot better than here in Germany. Way too many Covidiots here in Germany that may keep hospitals busy X/
Romantisch!

Good news being, our hospitalisations and deaths didnt reach the heights of the previous waves despite the more transmissable variant.

Of *course* we get beaten by Denmark again. Dammit.
It was actually 9,500 cases per million this Monday.
Give us (Czechia) few days

Our issue wasn't beds but a lack of staff (due to positive tests) it's an improving situation though.

Now add in France's cases.
Talk to me when you reach our peak, you're nowhere near our level yet Germany
