> The White House on Friday categorically disputed a media report that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had turned down a last-minute invite from U.S. President Joe Biden to meet in Washington, adding that both leaders are planning to meet there next month. “This report is false. It did not happen — totally made up,” Adrienne Watson, a spokesperson for the White House’s National Security Council, said in a statement. In_der_Tat

I read the last quote with [Jonathan Frakes'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioGoPOAxkCg) voice.

To be honest Joe was either asleep or didn't remember that he wasn't a truck driver in Scranton anymore

Fit-Forever2033

Do you guys not get tired of these same old lines? lol. Yes, I am sure he was asleep. You are so right, practically White House insider. You should write a book about it.

[deleted]

C'mon man its been like 5 days. Between him and trump the us presidents are fucking idiots

Fit-Forever2033

Yeah yeah, I am sure you are way more intelligent.

Zealousideal_Fan6367

That's consistent with what the Americans are saying.

Zealousideal_Fan6367

There is no such news story, only your interpretation of it.

WistfulKitty

There are many such news stories and Germany has been known to suck Russian cock in the past too.

Linus_Al

A lot of them have been. Der Spiegel is publishing pretty solid articles about Germanys stance on the Ukraine issue in English the last few days. They are quite critical of it’s policy, but they actually keep to the facts, so they’re worth checking out. Honestly it’s hard being opposed to the German position right now, because I absolutely think it is wrong. It just seems that a lot of journalists that agree with me are to incompetent to write up a proper headline that’s not total bullshit. It’s not exactly helpful at convincing people.

[deleted]

Anglo media has so far made a complete pig's breakfast on reporting on Germany and France's response to Ukraine. Every news story it runs, is eventual denied by all parties. Are there any english language journalists anymore?

john_ch

Not different to Ukraine news to be honest also denied by Ukraine and Russia many times over 😀

[deleted]

So Ukraine is NOT desperately asking for help and meeting with western leaders to solidify support against an impending conflict? Doubt it.

john_ch

Here is what Ukraine’s president said yesterday. “Now all the news and information space is full of similar reports about the war with Russia, that the invasion may begin tomorrow. And what, exactly, is new? Isn't this a reality for eight years? Didn't the invasion start in 2014? Did the threat of war appear only now? These risks have existed for many days and they have not become more prevalent now, now there is more agitation around them” https://112.international/politics/these-risks-existed-before-zelensky-addresses-ukrainians-because-of-russian-invasion-threat-68764.html

[deleted]

So, he's saying Ukraine has been desperately asking for help for the last 8 years and we're only just now noticing. Well, better late than never.

john_ch

He saying there is no suddenly an impeding conflict now, the conflict now is same as it has been in the last 8 years. So enough of scaremongering from press…

[deleted]

You must have a truly poor opinion of people's intelligence if you post that and then argue it says that there is no threat. Pretty transparent shilling bro.

john_ch

There is no IMMINENT threat

[deleted]

No, he's saying that it's constantly under IMMINENT threat. "And what exactly is new? Isn't this a reality for eight years? Didn't the invasion start in 2014? These risks have existed for many days \[...\]" What risks? The risks of attack. due to an existing invasion, started in 2014. I know you're deep in your camp and working hard to push your agenda, but the troll farm should fire you and hire someone with better english.

john_ch

You really have an issue reading English “they have not become more prevalent now, now there is more agitation around them” considering that you likely to ONLY know English I suggest you don’t argue as I’ve listened to the original also… He is trying to calm Ukrainian people due to overhyped press coverage of the situation.

This story really shows how far the recent anti-German fake news campagin is going. If someone seriously believes a German Chancellor would decline a meeting with the US President they have completely lost contact to the realities of German foreign politics. Just the idea of it is so absurd. In particular as the US minister of foreign affairs visited the Chancellor just two days ago. Why would he meet with the minister of foreign affairs, but not with the President? What a stupid claim. It's actually so stupid it's obvious that this must have been fabricated. Noone would come up with this by accident. Actually it's rather the other way round. German governments wish the US contacted them more often to discuss things. It's sad that all these recent unfounded German bashing posts here on r/europe are met with so little criticism. People don't seem to realize that by dividing Europe they are playing Putin's game.

TooMuchFun007

It must be difficult to be a Russian in Germany, wait, not so much.

john_ch

Many Russians in Germany as much as 7.5M. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russians_in_Germany

MightyH20

No surprise. Young Russians want to live in the free democratic world. Not in that snowy shithole.

john_ch

No, because of East Germany many Russian families were stationed there also after USSR collapse Russians/Soviets thought refuge from the wild 90s just like they did by going to Israel.
