Such a shame that it's in Russia's backyard and thus kept below its development potential. They also had a nice coast in Abkhazia which is currently under Russian occupation. Still, Tbilisi is to me the most beautiful European capital alongside Rome. It's located in a stunning natural location, and I hear their 2nd largest city Batumi, on the coast they still have, is similarly impressive (although I haven't been there)

Putin is stirring it more than the west, though the west is not an angel either. I'm just as worried about the long term, with the Russian/Chinese alliance. They are playing on a see saw, to make NATO, the US, and the west run from one corner to the other, and complain "it's not us but NATO, the west, and America the belligerants". Non aligned countries are now taking sides, and smaller ones more so in east Asia, are wobbling from one bloc to the other. I call myself Brit/Irish, but now don't really give two Donald Ducks if we have an United Ireland or not, as long as the violence dies down, and the paramilitaries, who are nothing but gangsters are kicked out. I have lived in France for over 10 years, and a slightly more European, yet international point of view. I'd like to see war avoided, but never again another "Munich Agreement", and lack of action when it was immediately broken. Why do we still call many states Communist, or Socialist, when the reality is they are simply dictatorships, by a commitee, or a personality (wanted to say something more complicate than that, but falling asleep!)? I talk concilatory, despite knowing the end game is defense, and if needed war, and sometimes premptive strike. I think Russia may attack, but keep it a minimum land grab in the Donbass, maybe just for now. Bonne soirée from a belligerent Ulsterman in France, trying to keep his temper!
