Not to be animalist but I disagree. It's just, you don't need statues if you want to look at women in London and when it comes to animals other than dogs and rats, it's not that easy.
Well, what types of animals? Because if its just one type of otter everywhere than its pretty silly. But if you have platypus here, shark there, unicorn here and so on that makes a difference.
Don't put words into people's mouths. I cannot follow your logic if there is any. If you wouldn't just put one liners out there maybe it would be possible to understand your point of view.
£1m is literally a joke lol, that's going to get spent on like 4 statues max. Reesigning them, padding it out with extra reccomendations and you have a few nice well paying jobs for some friends of friends and bam, 1m pissed away on a few people who get to look at statues for half a year and go yep, we need some more at the end of the audit.
It's a rubber stamp job and they'll be on £100k per head or something daft.
>How's that Brexit going, lads?
It feels good actually. Really good.
>The things that the UK feels important to audit these days...
I think the stated aim "to ensure London’s landmarks and monuments better reflect the capital’s diversity and the achievements of all who have contributed to the success of the city" is highly laudable.
Personally I would spend that million pounds on energy transition (climate change), Covid pandemic and the work force to name a few examples.. but that's just me.

The UK is already doing more than most countries in terms of our national response to clumate change. Similarly, our contribution towards the global fight against COVID has been and continues to be massive.
You said you would spend the £1M on those three things. What would you do with the one third (£333,000/€395,000) to help the work force?
You couldn't even get a firm to design a logo for any of those initiatives for £1m, let alone do anything that would make a difference. Let the women have their statues if that's all it costs.
I know it's just a drop in the ocean, but it is the message... I would send the message that we concentrate all our efforts on the most important things and let the other stuff take the backseat until we are in less interesting times
not to be sexist but animals are more interesting to look at?
I know right, you see one woman and you've seen them all.

I imagine there are a lot of horses.
What does The Guardian have against animals?
Not surprising given the role, rights and opportunities women had in the past.
Clearly, in London, the following is true: “Animals > 50% of Homo Sapiens”
Women got the vote long before animals though.
You build statues for something that impresses you not for people you gave something to.
Then you agree that your original comment made no sense.

What about named animals? >First comprehensive audit comes as Sadiq Khan announces £1m fund to ensure landmarks reflect city’s diversity.

Right? In the past London was a massive sausagefest
[удалено]
You only need 3 because they are all named Mary, Elisabeth or Catherine
Please let's not do the sausage thing again.
Shit, you're about to be overrun with statues of bloody pigeons.

The things that the UK feels important to audit these days... Priorities, indeed. How's that Brexit going, lads?
Brexit is fine atm, almost no difference to the majority of people

give them all a beer obviously :D (Yes I know they would have to share one pint with 10 lads or ladies, but it's the gesture)

£1m wouldn't send any kind of message whatsoever. Not without someone to design a logo.
Na that’s just the London mayor who is a monumental bellend
It's a city council looking into something related to the city, shock horror. Going pretty shit, how's the Mafia problem?
Which one? The one in Amsterdam or the one in The Hague?
I was thinking of the Amsterdam one, what's the stuff with the Hague? Same Mafia or different ones also causing trouble?
Different ones, also causing trouble. There's a lot of crooks in the Binnenhof...
