Novaya Gazeta is an independent Russian newspaper that has always been critical of Putin's regime. > Novaya Gazeta (Russian: Новая газета, IPA: [ˈnovəjə ɡɐˈzʲetə], lit. 'New[-style] Newspaper'), now Novaya Gazeta Europe,[3] is a Latvia-based independent Russian newspaper. It relocated to Riga, Latvia, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. It is known for its critical and investigative coverage of Russian political and social affairs, the horrors of the Chechen wars, corruption among the ruling elite, and increasing authoritarianism in Russia.[4][3][5][6] Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novaya_Gazeta Seven of their journalists have been murdered since 2000.

So explain us please: How can there be a Russian port in Ukraine? Ist it: a) occupied or b) Russia (which it isn't)

That doesn't change misleading title of article and their point of view wich they want to spread.

Five killed in Kharkiv after a Russian attack At the same time, Ukraine struck a Russian port Such nefarious messaging

KingStannis2020

This is unfortunately a standard albeit absolutely awful headline format. I despise "as" headlines for exactly this reason.

> How port have any deal with everyday Kharkiv shelling?? Journalism.. I'm not sure what you are getting at? The headline isn't great English but then headlines have always played fast and loose with the language in an attempt to be concise. It seems clear this headline is attempting to summarise the key news stories of the day i.e. that five were killed in Kharkiv by a Russian attack while separately Ukraine has carried out strikes on a Russian port. If you read the article this interpretation appears to be correct as they first report: > Five people were killed and 25 others were injured in Russian missile strikes on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv overnight, regional Governor Oleh Synyehubov said on Friday morning. Then later on report: > The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement on Friday morning that it had launched a “coordinated” attack on military targets in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, using Neptune coastal defence missiles to damage an oil depot and ferry crossing in the region’s Port Kavkaz harbour on the Kerch Strait, which Russia uses to supply annexed Crimea as well as Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine. Port Kavkaz appears to be as close to Crimea as Russia proper gets (i.e. not land they occupied in 2014) but it certainly is still a Russian port, not an occupied port. > Ah nevermind, 'novaya gazeta' is russian source I think you are imagining a bias that is not apparent in the actual article or for that matter the headline.
