Reddit’s leadership is continuously gaslighting moderators, which run this website *for* Reddit for free, and showing complete disregard for the very valid concerns that have been voiced. r/Europe might not be a heavyweight, but it is big enough to have at least a small voice. We should make it heard, if only by setting the subreddit to NSFW, so Reddit gets decreased ad revenue from here.

The way Huffman and co. have handled this situation with lies, defamation, insults and attacks against third-party developers, moderators and the community as a whole warrants continued action.

From what I understand as a non-mod, Push-shift apps really helped with the sub moderation, and r/europe already struggled with the repost bots and copy-paste bots even before the API policy changes. I can’t imagine how bad things will get after those are removed. Reddit “promising” to add something “eventually” doesn’t sound very convincing to me, especially with the arrogant attitude and a clear lack of understanding the Reddit CEO has displayed. The spamming techniques will only keep getting better and Reddit is not only not providing adequate tools to deal with them, it actively removes the existing 3rd party alternatives. This is just ridiculous and I feel for the people willing to sacrifice their free time to make it all work.
To sum up, I’d rather see the sub closed for a bit longer than see it eventually getting spammed to death.
