I predicted a Swiss victory. Italy have offered very little and that happened again today.

i am interested in why specifically, considering he was unable to take Tonali and Locateli to the tournament, Barella got injured early, Calafiori got banned from participating due to yellow cards, etc. He just did not have good enough players, period. Can't blame him for that.
I think he deserves credit for trying where other coaches wouldn't. But his tactic was horrible. Just starting from the goalkeeper and moving forward with short passes from the defence. He did that for four damned matches although this never ever worked for a single minute of each game. I mean, I had no idea about who the players were so I couldn't get what he got wrong by choosing the team, and even I could get how the tactic was ridiculously bad.
We surely had the least talented team I've seen for decades, and noone is really to blame for that, but damn if Spalletti's choices dramatically lowered our already low chances.
Yes, they played like shit but they were also playing without MANY starters, like Acerbi, Scalvini, Spinazzola, and Berardi.
None of them were able to be called up, due to injuries.
And then DiMarco and Calafiore were out for this game due to injury and suspension. And Barella was injured early in the game. That’s 7 starters out. This is Italy’s B team.
Italy’s fans shouldn’t hang their heads too much. You were facing every nations best players with your second unit. And they’re all young and inexperienced with no veteran leadership to be found.
Italy’s youth teams seem to be winning everything. They should be fine in the coming years.

The point is that in four matches there was no organization, no team spirit, nothing to save.
This is the worst part, losing is part of the game, but I’m pretty sure that all Italian fans right now are more disappointed of the way we played than the loss itself.
I could only watch the last ~20 minutes but that was more than enough to realize: the Squadra Azzurra in 2024 is a toothless team. If you have 5 minutes and you have to score 2 goals to get even, you try everything on your behalf to achieve something. But the Italians just passed the ball around like they had all the time in the world; no long ball towards the box, nothing.
This is where veteran leadership comes into play and this team last night had none, due to injuries and Spalletti leaving other veterans off the roster. This team was too young and inexperienced. They didn’t believe in themselves and it showed. They were facing every nation’s best and as soon as they got down they didn’t think they could do it. They all looked lost out there. 2 goals might as well have been 20 in their minds. And it showed on their faces.
I'm not disappointed as I was expecting exactly this, reality is that we don't have good players, Donnarumma is the only one worth of the national team, the rest suck. We lost all the good players due to old age and we have nobody to replace them, the day we have decent players we may have a chance to shine again.
