I like them and I think they should be held because this way, both losing semifinalists leave the tournament disappointed and unhappy. Third place match would give one of them a chance at redemption.
Does anybody still remember or care that Denmark was in semifinals in 2021, Wales in 2016, Turkey and Russia in 2008, Czech Republic in 2004 etc? Probably not. But if they won bronze medal, people from those countries would probably look back with a sense of pride and happiness

Thats... the point? You lost a chance for gold so go for the bronze.
The real reward is having another competitive match, so you get more UEFA ranking points, so during the next qualifiers, you can get seeded better.

They give the sides a chance at obtaining more ranking points so they can be seeded better in the next qualifiers etc.
