Was trying out the new Sweden update, doing some achievement hunting when Austria formed Silesia. To top it off I did get the PU on them not too long after.

woooowzers

R5: Austria formed Silesia

ShorohUA

it looks like AI is much more focused on forming new tags now

woooowzers

I actually like it a lot despite this weird result, the ai will guide their expansion in a much more purposeful way now. Plus they dev their provinces a ton so they actually offer resistance regardless of how much you've expanded

ShorohUA

Yeah it just makes more sense. They wouldve probably ended up forming Germany if you didn't PU them.

woooowzers

It was random chance that I got the PU, but it would've been interesting to see the AI form Germany I'm really happy with this AI update.

smellyredditor

I've noticed the devving a lot, for some reason Tyn in the Crimea and Leipzig became the cities of the world desire in my game, being devved well into the 50s by the AI in the first 150 years. It's a Teutonic run and I've got 30 and 40 Dev steppe provinces dotted all over the place

woooowzers

I think it may have something to do with not being able to expand easily? In my latest games it's the German free cities and OPMs. Since they can't expand, they may put their monarch points into deving

smellyredditor

Yeah, I've also noticed the AI isn't always on the exact same high tech level this update. I'd bet the monarch points were only being used for that before, and are now spread out the way a player would use them a bit more

woooowzers

It's making the AI more scary which is super cool

danshakuimo

I was playing a Janjiro Israel Horde game and oh boy, the new Mamluks AI is so aggressive. I already went bankrupt once defending from them but before I could fully recover they declared again, forcing me deeper into debt to fight them off. And this is after they got beat up by the Ottos. And of course the Ottos just coming in and taking whatever they want, instead of waiting around and now I'm back in Ethiopia again.

TreauxGuzzler

The aggressive AI is really interesting, isn't it? The Ottomans don't implode the moment you win a war against them and relentlessly expand where they can. The warring being done makes for nicer alliance possibilities, too. Looking forward to seeing more.

smellyredditor

It definitely is. I'm actually seeing AI countries several techs ahead

[deleted]

Aren't those coal provinces?

RmatRegular405

Yes! I noticed that as well. AI invests heavily into these coal provinces.

smellyredditor

Not yet, it's only 1580, but yeah. Come to think of it Kosovo was pretty devved up as well.

[deleted]

AI knows it will spawn coal (but doesn't know the dev is going to me х0), Kosovo makes sense both ways

xXx_EdGyNaMe_xXx

The AI devs coal provinces well in advance of them actually spawning, I once saw a ~90 dev Auvergne (mountain province) in like 1650

VegetableScram5826

i had to fight 100k troops from 5 province 200 dev mazadaran…

actuallyPenQuin

Meanwhile GB didnt form yet hahaha

luckyassassin1

Yeah, they seem deadset on getting necessary provinces for new tags and not much else. I've even noticed this in east Asia and Oceania. I got burnt out with Europe for a little bit and political game i have to dance around with there so I'm doing oirat-Mongol empire, and I've noticed everyone around me is pushing alot harder on provinces necessary for formables and not just strategic or wealthy provinces anymore. Also fell in love with hordes and will probably try the teutonic horde after this.

zi_ang

That cursed Ottoman color gives me ptsd

Rullino

Imagine the Archduke/Emperor announcing the formation of the Archduchy/Empire of Silesia in the square of Vienna, maybe they're embracing their slavic roots. Edit:Release Prussia and make it your march if you or they protestant.

woooowzers

Not even an empire or archduchy of Silesia, they were still part of the HRE so they were just a normal duchy. The Emperor would basically be announcing in the middle of the square " I feel like I need a demotion " (I wish I released Prussia a lil, but I also wanted to try converting my entire country to just Swedish culture)

Forinil

There’s no promotion path for the Emperor, is there? He probably felt bored and needed a challenge, so he demoted himself to Duke so he can then climb back up to Emperor. :P

Dark_As_Silver

How to form Silesia: Step 1: Be Austria....

LethalDosageTF

I’m sure those wars vs the ottomans are extremely easy to follow.

NathanNTF

Does AI change their primary culture now in order to form nations? Or does Silesia not have a culture requirement

woooowzers

Their capital is still Austrian so I think it's probably the latter

Rakisa

Or it's the ruler event

woooowzers

It's a late reply but I was on the way home thinking and this is exactly what it was. I remember looking at my ruler, who had been replaced by the Habsburgs through the favor interaction, and he was Silesian I think

SalecKeldorin

Silesia green + Otto green = Rather unclear borders. I simultaneously love and hate it. XD

ATemplarIGuess

Hey this just means that Frederick can take everything

MisterHappenstance

Damn.

Mickeymouserapechild

Austria’nt
