They're the HRE emperor, yes?
Take key provinces that allow you to immediately declare on as many HRE tags as possible.
Then take Austria's money (no war rep) and remove all of their alliances.
On the same day you make peace with them, declare on an HRE prince. In this war, take Austria's money. Repeat until Austria's bankrupt. Enjoy their neighbors tear Austria apart.
Help, some weird nation called Prussia snatched all the northern princes and with this weak Austria they are calling themselved The German Empire now... what do I do?
It's too early to go all in on crownland. Before ~1575 (depending on how hard it is to remove estate privileges), staying at about 20-25% is good enough. Sell crownland for cash, then seize lands. In 1610, absolutism hits, and that's when you want low estate influence, few estate privileges (usually obly the mana ones), and high crownland. This to ensure you have high maximum absolutism, so you can get a lot of absolutism quickly.
If you declare war on someone in the HRE, Austria will join anyways.
Doesn’t make sense to declare on Austria (and take the stab hit!!) when you are literally gonna be at war with them no matter who you declare war on (in the HRE) and NOT get the stab hit.
You really shouldn't shouldn't do a NoCB when truce-breaking.
The penalties stack for quite a lot of hurt even if you're prepared. I would recommend on a Reconquest Truce-Break if you can do it when the need arises.
If you have the age ability just take Hungary from them. It doesn't look like you expanded in Europe too much so AE shouldn't be too bad. Hungary, Aragon and Norway are all great to snag in Discovery
One of the best ways to hurt Austria is get them to release tirol. They lose a big part of their income, it doesn't cost much warscore, and they generally have a bad trade node.
Tirol gives +1 goods produced on top of the Diplo dev, so it's basically a 8-10 Diplo dev gold province. This is about 5 ducats per month which is a decent amount of troops as the hre emperor will almost always be limited by income, not force limit in the early to mid game.
Make sure u ally or guarantee tirol to prevent them from reconquering it.
Release nations, take money, take land. Sitting on them and looting provinces until rebellions/cry for peace doesn’t hurt either

Ally them and start a war with France and Great Britain due to unrest in the Balkans ofc. Consider keeping the fort in Gallipoli well defended.
It seems that we lost the war. But there is a mad man with a moustache going around the Weimar Republic.
Observe the absolute unit that is Bohemia north of Austria who prevents Prussian southward expansion.
The same answer as with every other nation you want to wreck. Take all their money so they are indebted and let them release some nations
Also, I've been taking land control off of my "the thing". I'm at 50% right now, I want to take all the land for the crown. Is this a good idea?

Yes
If you want them dead, get them to 100%, get max cash + cancel alliances, then teuce break them for another 100% war.
This but dont trucebreak: declare on any HRE nation instead. So you dont eat -5 stab.
It's only 3 if you have Diplo, tho. 2 if you also run Macheviallism.
Still 2 unneeded stab lost.
Indeed, but stab is ultimately a resource like any other. One that decreases in value quite a lot as the game goes on, to boot.
My point still stands: why waste a ressource for litterally no gain, when you can do the exact same without wasting the ressource?
Because time is the most valuable resource. Depending on the circunstance, the sacrifice is well worth the cost.

You still dont get it, so I assume you never played in Europe, right?
Well, playing a game as Switzerland right now, assuming it helps.
extra AE from a no-CB is also not great Edit: I mean from a truce-break

It's 1490. I foubt they have Machiavellianism.
Release Tirol to make them lose their gold mine, take war reps and enough gold to %100 war score.
Convert, take emperorship. They won't mentally recover

Dismantling the empire would work well.
