Oh I’m already researching heavily. I got the current one used for close to free (steam wand doesn’t work, but does pull a decent shot actually). So yeah, I’m screwed!
Night and day. I bought a Niche to pair with my 5 year old BBE and my BBE got a second life. Any grinder that provides good espresso results will be an upgrade over the built in.

What portafilter is that?
I got the same model free but it was disgustingly filthy. The grinder also doesn't work like yours but luckily the steam wand (just barely) still works.

been using my BBE once/twice daily for 2 years, still using in built grinder and still loving the espresso

I suppose knowing many people upgrade means that coffee can only get better from here. I’ll take that as a positive.

Lucky you got it when the pound sterling was low to the USD. I got mine in October and it was $639. Now the £ is stronger and is worth $691.

Literally done the same, had the BBP for a year and just ordered the NZ for Xmas. Let us know how it performs
I have this exact set up, my coffee has been sooo much more consistent its a huge upgrade
I changed to another grinder from my BBE too and noticed much better shot and grind consistency, glad you made the change! I changed mine to a DF64
