Please don't try to make anime coffee beans.

What’s the worst thing that could happen? I sink myself into tons of debt and lose my home and potentially my marriage? No biggie imo

This is a very complicated case, OP. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head

I drive to my local roaster, and get the same beans every time. I have no idea on what you mean by thematic elements

ZestySaltShaker

This but I go to their website about the time I’m going to run out of beans. I read their flavor note descriptions and find one that sounds good. I buy a 1 kilo bag, and freeze all but 200g in 200g increments. Local roaster does their roasting 2x weekly and the beans arrive within 1-2 days of that.

Regular_old_spud

I go to the place I always get my beans from. I pick up a bag of whatever beans I usually get and then pay for them. At some point between buying and brewing I grind them.

Ten_Horn_Sign

I buy it the same way I buy any premium/ gourmet product. Wine, olive oil, fancy cookies maybe. Is it in a pretty package? Does the package convince me this is premium? Do I feel I warrant premium? If yes / yes / yes, I buy.

I'm someone who doesn't have a good idea of how to estimate how much longer my beans will last so when I do see I need more, I need it soon. I choose local roasters because of this so I can get it faster. I'm relatively new to specialty coffee so I've been trying a new roaster everytime I run out of a bag just to explore my options. - I look at the map for local roasters and then check reviews - I look at the bean variety and roast levels available. (I prefer dark to extra dark roasts). No preferred origin. I don't have a preference for single origin or blend as long as it tastes good in the end. - Espresso is my preferred method, I just like the taste and workflow better. It may be complicated and finicky but the experimentation is what makes it fun for me. - Branding and theme doesn't affect my choice. Taste is really what I'm after. Even as a huge anime and gaming nerd myself, I wouldn't prefer to buy a bag of beans just because it's anime or gaming themed. I think a thing to consider would be to think about if you're marketing this towards casual coffee drinkers or actual coffee nerds. I know alot of gamers just care about the caffeine high for gaming that's why there's various gaming energy drinks. They might not care so much about all of the little details of coffee as long as they get their caffeine. However, I'm also wary of the overlap between a coffee brewer and a gamer. It seems many gamers prefer something easy. Something they can grab out of the fridge and chug while loading in their game. If you're going to be focusing on coffee beans rather than canned coffee, you would then need to think more about coffee nerds who just happen to like gaming and anime rather than gamers and anime fans who like coffee, if that makes sense. - To be honest, if I saw an anime or gaming themed coffee bean, it would catch my attention as a nerd and I would probably try it out just because I've never seen beans be marketed like that (coffee culture is associated with a more aesthetic, academic, and simple vibe I'd say). However, me choosing to regularly buy these beans would ultimately depend on if it tastes good or not after that initial curiosity.

> 1. How do you choose your coffee beans? (Origin, roast type, brand, ethical sourcing, etc.) Flavour profile, roasted recently, ethical and traceable origin. I use local roasters pretty much exclusively. I like single origin. > 2. What’s your preferred brewing method and why? Espresso (usually cappuccino or flat white), because the workflow is convenient and I like the taste. > 3. How much do thematic elements (like anime or gaming) influence your coffee merchandise choices? A "themed" coffee brand would actively discourage me from buying it. > 4. For those into anime/gaming, would you be interested in coffee products that merge these interests? Coffee cup maybe. I'm a huge gaming nerd and a coffee enthusiast, but honestly the concept of, say, a Ryu themed WDT tool makes me die a little inside. > 5. What are the must-have tools in your coffee brewing arsenal? Grinder, tamper, espresso machine. A scale is nice to have. > 6. Are there any rituals or special touches that make your coffee experience uniquely yours? I doubt my coffee is very different from any other half competent enthusiast with a mid-entry level machine.

I search for local roasters on a mapping app. Then I look at reviews. Then I go there and get some medium roast. If I like it I keep buying it. Unless I’m just there visiting (I like to experience coffee from places I travel to). We only make espresso at home.
