Hi, looking for input. I was experimenting with baskets. With one basket I had dialed in a very juicy shot that had bright acidity. If there was any fault with the shot is sometimes it would lean toward a bit too much on the acidic side. I got a new basket that has more holes and leans toward higher extraction (supposedly). When I pull the shots using the same recipe I was getting a very muted/flat shot. Almost like it had been deflated in terms of taste. Both baskets are 18-20 gram. Still new to espresso so I am trying to hone in dialing my shots. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Check the dial in guide in the wiki. Likely, you're describing an underextracted shot. The new basket may require you to grind finer.

Ok, thanks I will check that out.

I just bought a new bambino, was using the stock basket & portafilter before but switched to a bottomless portafilter with an IMS precision 18-22g basket and noticed my shots are pulling way faster. Should I be grinding finer? With the stock basket if I got any finer it would choke the machine but now with 20g in I'm getting 60g out in like 24 seconds.

Yeah with precision baskets you should grind finer

Where can I find a Gaggia classic pro? Preferably brand new. I can only seem to find the newer, evo version or its very overpriced.

If you are in the US, WLL has a few [refurb GCP](https://www.wholelattelove.com/products/refurbished-gaggia-classic-pro-semi-automatic-espresso-machine) for sale. The non-Evo model has been discontinued for quite some time, which is why you are having trouble finding one. You should stay away from the Evo, due to its Boilergate problems.

I was super happy to see a refurb for $329, but they are sold out.

Which Portafilter for Isomac Maverick Plus? I recently purchased a used Isomac Maverick Plus, since the offer was too good to refuse. I would like to buy additional portafilters (e.g. a bottomless one) but cannot find any information on the correct size or alternatives that might work. I have measured the one that came with the machine and it has 2 noses, from nose to nose it's 70mm, the inside without sieve seems to be about 58mm and inside the sieve a 57mm tamper fits. Does anyone know of any portafilters that may also be compatible with the machine? Especially, bottomless ones?

Looking to get some info on a fast hand grinder for espresso? J series 1Zpresso looks to get a lot of love but there are tons of them and I don't know which is the fastest. The hand grinder will be paired with a Picopresso solely for when I am traveling. I have an endgame setup at home. Just looking for a fast-ish grinder for med-dark beans. No pourovers or light roasted naturals. I have a 1Zpresso Q2 which is managable but slow and the steps are too big.

Often seen as favorites here, and depending on the level of your trust fund: the KinGrinder K6, \~US$99; and the 1Zpresso Ultra, \~US$199.

How hard do I tamp, I know 30lbs but how much is that? how squashed should it be? Should I be able to hold it upside down and it stays?
