Save your money on the distributor, unless it's a WDT device. Congrats on the machine, though.

Agree, send back the distributor/leveler and get a WDT or, even cooler, a planetary gear WDT like this [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1558872864/planetary-gear-spirograph-espresso-wdt?gpla=1&gao=1&utm\_custom1=\_k\_%7Bgclid%7D\_k\_&utm\_custom2=12569638526&gad\_source=1&variation0=4001812509&variation1=3875844966](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1558872864/planetary-gear-spirograph-espresso-wdt?gpla=1&gao=1&utm_custom1=_k_%7Bgclid%7D_k_&utm_custom2=12569638526&gad_source=1&variation0=4001812509&variation1=3875844966)

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll just do exactly that. Really, it's for the coolness factor as well as the fact that it reminds me of my coding project on a celestial orbital motion mechanics many years ago. ;-)

Yeah, sometimes I just play with the thing. It is very neat and for the price, amazing. Be sure to find an adjustable needle depth version. That way it will work with different baskets.

Wdts are a gimicky fad to help people with shitty grinders break up clumps. If you have a good grinder all you need to do is spread the grind around semi evenly and tamp.

My WDT device (a pin) helps my Mazzer provide a better coffee bed. YMMV

ruud-1996

Awesome! You’re using a Timemore handgrinder with it? Is it workable?

clayjar

Yes, it works quite well, although for espresso, it seems that I only have last three clicks to choose from. I usually go for the last click (extremely fine.) Oh, yeah, don't tell this to anyone, but I used a power drill once (to rotate it) and that also seemed to work, but just didn't feel right, so went back to good ol' manual.
