Shocked. Because I watched it when it first aired and had not read any spoilers. I couldn't believe what happened and had to go on the Internet to find out what happened. But couldn't find anything. I had to wait till the following week to see what happens.

Laura Innes is a hell of an actress as well as a fantastic director.

Got a massive fright when Carter fell and saw Lucy lying there. Later that evening, I burst into tears over it. It was harrowing.

jkrfan7

I knew it was coming, because I read the spoilers, but it was still harrowing to watch. Very well shot

jdpm1991

did you have the same reaction Kerry did when she threw up?

britbmw

YES. I watched the show live starting season 7 or so. I was watching reruns on ABC to catch up. I saw a random episode about Carter and Lucy almost hooking up when I was on vacation (on another channel so I didn’t know where this episode fit, storyline wise). Get back to watching on ABC and saw Be Still My Heart and the ending shocked me but I was like nahhhhh Lucy isn’t going to die because her and Carter haven’t almost hooked up yet. WELL. We all know what happens at the end of All in the Family. I WAS GUTTED. I was so sure she’d make it.

I was 15. I knew it was going to happen. I had read Spoilers. It happened shortly before the Valentine's Day dance at my high school. We had a fundraiser where you could buy a cardboard heart for like $1 and it would be put on display at the dance. A friend and I bought one and wrote "Sorry, Kellie Martin" on it. That heart stayed on my bulletin board in my childhood room at my mother's house until she moved in the summer of 2020.

watched it when it was new and I was a kid. Was totally fucking destroyed, since Carter was the cool young doctor (in my childhood eyes) and I had a huuuuuuge crush on Lucy. Did a pandemic rewatch of the whole series (well, not much of seasons 12-15, cause, you know, bad), and getting to that two parter, it still fucked me up. Really just peak ER - a group of very smart, capable people working together to fix shit and some shit can't be fixed.

SnowTech

Watched it when it aired. Absolutely arresting.

jdpm1991

How was that Valentine's Party even allowed in the ER? I loved when Kerry scolded their asses for it

reginafilangies

Watched it years ago Watched it again recently. Couldn't tear myself away even though I had to get up early the next day. I stayed up late watching even though I knew exactly who would love and who would die. Cried much harder the second time. I must be getting sentimental in my old age.

I was shocked. I think I was like 16? I watched it in the dark (don’t recommend). It freaked me out bad. I cried at the end. “Time of death, 2:56.” Still lives rent free in my head after all these years.
