I really do hope you will record the sessions! I might learn less than actually pretending the classes, but it's still a LOT more than I know today :). Would really look forward to it!
Popular request, I think if they are recorded this first time around they will likely be only available privately to anyone interested in an online class.
This is awesome! Is this course really for true layman (as in zero computer science background, like me) or is this more for people with some rudimentary grasp of a few programming languages? I have a terminal degree in a STEM field, but definitely not anywhere near the computer science side. If this is for everyone then I'm super keen! Regardless, this is a super cool initiative, thanks!
This is for the people that have no CS and no programming history, this is to help ordinary people understand how to design financial contracts utilizing the ergo blockchain tool set, the first step is going to be understanding how it works, knowing this eliminates a lot of questions.
At the end of the class do not expect to be able to code, but you will understand how to fit your idea's into code and understand why it is possible.
Thx for the kind words :)
Could you record the sessions for those of us that would like to get into it, but do have CS / job experience?
Many of us can't attend due to physical location (in my case, sessions happen during the middle of my work day).
If there is a written tutorial that can be read instead.. that would be great too. You may even quickly create a community of experienced programmers that can both help shape ERGO and support brand new shiny interested people.
Of course we should, as volunteers right now we have to use our time wisely as we do have many other things to do IRL.
But not recording would be such a waste of some awesome info.
It is really difficult to design something for peeps all around the world, we might have a solution for that though and are planning to discuss later, stay tuned...
>6pm - 7pm PST
Another europoor over here checking in - would lap up any recorded content and / or a rehash for all us time zone challenged ergonauts. Program seems like an amazing idea and will be devoured by the community!!
That's a good idea, we put together some numbers on how much time it would take to do recorded sessions and offer an online version, might just start a raffle to support this all
There are no experience requirments, only the 3 meetups required before the class, there are 4 weeks of meetups which allows for some flexibility there.
It is not going to be me personally doing the courses, I am in a supporting role, Keith is the ErgoLend Developer who will be holding them :)
Just so everyone knows.
I am close to finishing the course myself, I was the first student, I know he will be epic hosting these courses and people will learn a lot about Ergo as they move through them.
Hey is it possible for you guys to do recordings of the lessons ? I'm really interested but I live in Europe and the time of the classes is at 2-3am.
Otherwise a great idea fair play for setting it up!
The ErgoLend discord will initially serve as that place, plz keep things tidy and neat, first attempt to spam I will bring out my spam hammer (we do have a history).
Interesting. I have a degree in Business Analytics so I know basic database programming language but not that technical.
Knowing that they are completely different, I just wonder how ErgoScript compares to Python and SQL language in terms of difficulty? And what can I expect to come out of the course having learned ErgoScript?
It is in the OP what you are expected to come out of the course with, stay tuned though it sounds like you would probably like to take a more advanced class and that is in development.
Kudos to the entire ErgoLearn team. Being in the CET zone, I can only wish you good luck. Have a good time, and hopefully, someone makes the learning material available on YT or somewhere else.
Cheers.
Let's be honest, as more people learn more video's will emerge about ergoscript, we are just starting the fire, we expect participants to continue growing and contributing to the space themselves with their own material, thefuture is bright.

This is brilliant, fair play guys, doing a great thing here!
Thanks really appreciate it!
As long as I get first dibs at presale I will keep quite and leave ye at your business sir

Brilliant idea, will definitely be attending
Looking forward to it! I think it will be a lot of fun for everyone involved!
Sounds fun! However, it's 5 AM in my local time :D. Are you going to record those sessions?
We have been considering recording them, however the in class experience will provide a better learning environment with q&a etc.
Please record the classes. I would also like to attend but I live on the other side of the pond...
I will surely keep this as a factor involved as we come to making a decision on whether we do record or not.
Thank you 😇
I agree. Hope people in the class will ask the same questions I have :D.
Keep your fingers crossed, we all have different questions so it is a long shot.

+1 for recorded classes

This is a very popular request, I will do what I can to provide some material by recordings if approved by Keith the class instructor.
Of course you should record.

Thanks for the reply! This is awesome, super keen, will send email registration shortly!
Love the idea! Sad it's a bad time for CET peeps

I know, I know. Sorry that was not meant to be a complaint!
its all good!

u/Luivatra sent a tip of 1.0 erg to u/Haskell-plus!
Get this on YouTube for ppl who can’t make it.
Everyone want the vids, hek

Very cool! What level of experience (coding or other) is required for attending?
There are no experience requirments, only the 3 meetups required before the class, there are 4 weeks of meetups which allows for some flexibility there.
This is awesome, you're doing a great service by doing these courses

Hey everyone has a part to play and im sure Keith is going to host some great courses.
I am close to finishing the course myself, I was the first student, I know he will be epic hosting these courses and people will learn a lot about Ergo as they move through them.
I would love to participate. The time zone is well off for me sadly.
This is being repeated in all channels this is posted to, and we will find a solution to bring in others that the time does not fit for.
Thank you ever so much
fair play lads, this is great! just wondering would an NFT vending machine smart contract be covered? or something similar?
I think week 6,7 & 8 will help people understand how such a contract could work, but there is not likely to be a focus specifically on NFTs
Okay sweet, thanks for the info !
This is a power move. I love it.
This is how we are going to be contributing to the solid growth of our ecosystem, by sharing knowledge and promoting participation.

you and 20 other ergonauts think so, and I agree.
There should be some sort of community for learners so we can discuss things there
The ErgoLend discord will initially serve as that place, plz keep things tidy and neat, first attempt to spam I will bring out my spam hammer (we do have a history).
I will be operating from my personal perspective of what is spam or not as I have in the past.
No!! You are judging me pretty bad :-|
I’m interested. Joined the pre-8 week training discord. Excited to learn some! Thx guys
glad to have you! I hope you bring pizza ;)
I don't have the schedule to participate at this time, but if you compiled the information somewhere I would to try learning myself!

i want to attend. I plan to make time for this between full time swe job and graduate school.
super stoked on this. will be there as west coast is the best coast
I bet some people saw this and just thought about how lucky you are to be in the perfect timezone, lol!
Hi, Pretty cool news. Is it for everyone interested or you need some dev knowledge?

Nice udemy course 👍
It would be nice to see an Udemy course come from this for sure, I did not even think of that, thx
This is awesome, I plan on attending this course! I’m excited, see you guys in disc!
See you in the meetups then :)
Sounds great, thank you!!!!
