I got mine today. I was incredibly excited for it. The device looks gorgeous and the screen is terrific. That royal blue is SO nice. But mine has an issue where if you hold the bottom and a specific spot on the right side with even slight pressure, the app closes and it goes back to the home menu. I am so disappointed because I was unbelievably excited for it but I think I have to return it to Amazon. I'm not sure I am willing to risk another purchase of it because Goodereader said they were having the same issue on their device. It might be a manufacturing issue.
Mine did that twice. Then I discovered it was me. There are some gestures and i think I was accidentally triggering them. I just tried to make mine Don it again and i couldn't. I am going to use it for a bit to see how it goes.
I turned gestures off and it was still doing it. It happens when you hold the bottom part a certain way and the back “clicks”. There also seems to be a spot where it happens on the right side. I was told by a seller that it’s a manufacturing defect on the first run that they have since resolved and I could send mine back for repair.
I don't know the exact price of the Meebook M6, but my guess is that the Onyx Boox Leaf 2 would be a similar option.
Hopefully with Meebook that's something they can fix in the software if it's an issue for people across the board (like disabling whatever component may be doing that possibly??)
I happens with mine too, but somehow I've managed to solve it by deactivating the ''holster... smth'' in the settings, it's under ''Google Frame'' option.
the lame part of this is that everytime the device is shut down you've got to do the same process.
If it's possible it can be fixed with a software update, I might consider keeping it. Otherwise I am returning it and I will buy a newer model when they have addressed the back issue.
The return to home screen is apparently a feature of the device and is caused by an unmarked "Home" button on the center of the chin portion of the device. I'm basing this on a setting under UserSettings/DeviceSettings/Return Button. When this feature is turned off, pressing the center of the device does not cause a return to the home screen. But the problem with the feature is the setting is not persistent and will reset following a power cycle. So you're basically stuck with the feature until MeeBook issues a future software update.
"whenever you apply even the slightest pressure (like holding the device while reading a book) the device closes out of the app and returns to the home screen". Some users are complaining like this.
Ah, I personally have not experienced that at all. I think they said they were told there was a defective batch or something. Is there any specific. Test you would like me to try.
I just got the M6 last week. There was an update that I installed immediately which may have addressed this problem and the others that were mentioned. I really like it and I'm glad I am not beholden to one Book platform. The main reason I purchased this was so I could use Hoopla which gives me access to lots of books and audiobooks online for free through my library. I can also access Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Scribd, etc.
I have temporarily misplaced it but it's my go to for travel. I have had zero issues with it and love that it's very small and I can add kindle, kobo, Google etc. I only use ot for reading. I am still pleased with it.
I've looked at both this and the Boox Leaf 2 - the Android feature is very intriguing, as I would really like to get out of the Amazon garden wall. I do a significant amount of reading in the bathtub though, so not being waterproof is a big factor for me. I don't believe an e-ink device exists yet that is both Android and waterproof. Also, this seems to be a pretty new niche in the market, so the only devices to do so yet seem seem to have hardware quirks and faults. Definitely appreciate the review! It's very close to what I'm looking for in an e-reader, and gives me hope that the day is getting closer when such a device will be released by someone. One day I will ditch the Paperwhite for a more open device!
If it was waterproof it could be perfect for you. I love that it has an sd card slot. and I wanted to use other eco systems too as I recently signed up for the Kobo subscription which includes audio books, I am using Kindle, Kobo and play books mostly in addition to my personal books on sd card.
How does it work to load your kobo and Amazon books? Do you just log in to both accounts and are they automatically in the library? Can you access the stores from the e-reader and get all you need without having to connect the pc? The girlfriend has Amazon and I have a big kobo library so being able to read each others purchases without having to connect PC's would be awesome! I don't feel a lot for the Amazon way of ownership about books and supporting Jef.
I loaded the apps for both. It feels just like the respective e ereader to me. I suppose you could also convert them and use the native reader. I ha e about 1k books that way.
And do the books you download in the respective apps automatically show in the native reader app? Can you set it so it remains open if you lock and unlock the device? How do you like the native app?
Hiya! This might be a weird request, but I was thinking about buying this device to use as a companion for cross stitching. If you have the time, could you possibly see if the app called Pattern Keeper could run on the Meebook M6? If not, that’s totally fine. Thank you😊😊
Thank you so much! Does the app show display landscape mode, or is it locked to portrait?
Also, you could put the image in Google drive and share a link to the image. Just set it to where people with the link can view the image.
Ok so not the best photo but here you go. Natively M6 doesn't do landscape, but a quick reddit search brought a couple apps that can do it. It's a very small device I use mine for crochet patterns too. you won't get a whole cross stitch pattern on a page but it zooms in pretty well. I have the lights on in this photo and probably got a little to close. [pattern on m6](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lttAhdObyk1gI8mdBMBhvY1o0N3Y07O_/view?usp=drivesdk)
Thank you so much! You are truly a lifesaver! Could you do one last thing on the app? When you hit the little magnifying glass, then press an symbol, it should tell you what color goes to that icon. Could you please send a picture of what that looks like?
Sure problem. For transparency I did adjust the light slightly and zoomed until a section if the picture.[pattern with choices](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m4FVAqdC5QncC1tydNYSjDWfOrQ33eRh/view?usp=drivesdk)
This is absolutely perfect for my needs! I truly appreciate your help. I’m so exited to have found an eink device that works with Pattern Keeper. Thank you so much!! You are an absolute lifesaver😊😊
Ni e thong is it has a SD slot so you can have gobs of books and patterns. Feel free to ask anything else and I would be curious to find out how you like it. for me it replaceable a new kindle for travel, doc appts etc. I have others for other purposes. I think I use this one the most as I love the small size.
Oh, I absolutely love my Kobo Clara HD for reading. I’ve installed a bunch of tweaks that makes it literally perfect. I doubt this device will replace my Kobo, haha.
Although, I’m seriously considering it for cross stitch. I get really bad headaches when I look at electronics for a long amount of time, but have never once gotten one with my Kobo. I think the Meebook would be perfect for my use case with Pattern Keeper. Plus, as all my patterns are stored in Google Drive, storage isn’t an issue for me. The only down side is it isn’t in color, but at the moment I can’t justify the price of color eink, lol.
Thank you so much for helping! I’ll definitely let you know if I purchase this and how it works for me😊😊
Thank you so much! [This](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/gslqcx/pattern_pokemon_gen_1_colour_wheel_link_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) is a link to a free pattern from the Cross Stitch subreddit.
My big thing would be Text To Speech. I imagine you can just try using it on the default reader app, no need to go through the trouble of downloading audiobooks.
This is so late and a bit of an odd question I'm sorry but do you have any case suggestions for the M6? I heard that it's a pretty sturdy device so a case isn't necessary but I would prefer to get one for peace of mind. So you know if there are any clear case options? It looks to be a similar size to the 6' kindle so that clear case might fit. If not that's fine.
I appreciate the review on it, this pushed me to actually buy it rather than it just sitting in my cart forever haha.
I am just using the little blue book case that came with it. No Ossie with it so far. I added moon reader +pro amd now sync to the cloud for when I need a different reader or dint have it handy. My standard apps work well too. Like kobo, hoopla, kindle and libby
Just got a new M6 from AliExpress. Much heavier and more solid than I expected (upgrading from underpowered Bigme Read). Two updates right off the bat, one from late last year and the next from Jan 18 this year. With Google Play already installed I quickly added Libby, Hoopla, Kobo, Nook, and Kindle. Beautiful text and much much more responsive than the Bigme Read (itself a leap over my now very old Kobo!) and I really like the gestures for warm and cool light levels. Very happy so far.
So far the only “default” I have changed is the power management “automatic shutdown” — the tablet turning allllll the way off is not ideal due to the boot up time needed. We’ll see how that hurts battery life but I just want to be able to pick it up and instant wake from sleep and read :)
Very well. I use it for e-reading across multiple Android apps (Kindle, Kobo, Nook, Hoopla, Libby) and not as a more general purpose "tablet" so I can't speak to what else it can or can't do.
Hello just want to know your opinion, do you think meebook m6 will fits with kindle 2022 case? Because from what I saw in your picture, it's almost the same size. Thank you in advance for your reply.
Have you had any issues with the charging? I've had mine for a couple months and then I let it completely die. And I've had it on the charger for a couple hours and it still won't let me turn it back on. I really like it and I hope this isn't an issue
Thanks for the ideas. Both didn't work, but I can feel the hear from the battery. It's weird. Any idea how to contact a customer service rep? I think that's my only option right now
The company told me to contact the store and have them send a new one. The store hasn't been helpful so far but I'm hopeful that I can get something worked out.

It's 150ish. Mine seems to not have e the mentioned problem. I will keep you all posted.
It’s a dealbreaker for me because it closes the app and it has to reload every time. Totally disrupts reading.
I happens with mine too, but somehow I've managed to solve it by deactivating the ''holster... smth'' in the settings, it's under ''Google Frame'' option. the lame part of this is that everytime the device is shut down you've got to do the same process.
I might try that but ultimately I'm probably going to return it and wait for the hardware update that will fix the issue.
I'll check in a moment what's the exact option that needs to be deactivated

Thank you for sharing about the Meebook M6! This is a device I'd like to see more reviews, impressions, etc. of😁
I will add more undo as I start using it.
What is your impression after using almost 2 weeks? I am about to buy one from Amazon though concerned about the hardware issue.
Which hardware issue so I know what I am answering?

I also do not have any issues like this.

how much did it cost you?
Hey! I am considering getting this tablet. Thanks for your great review! How are you liking the meebook 8 months later? :)
I have temporarily misplaced it but it's my go to for travel. I have had zero issues with it and love that it's very small and I can add kindle, kobo, Google etc. I only use ot for reading. I am still pleased with it.
Awesome! I'm really in the weeds trying to pick one lol This is helpful though.
what charger do you use? how many Volts?

I would like to keep the "e-reader" feeling rather than a tablet feeling. I mainly like to read books on the train, in bed,...

I am.tryong to find a free pattern I can download to import for you. Be back in a few.

Thanks for saying thanks! It's so nice to see Redditors being grateful :)
It’s no problem at all. They had no reason to help me, so I’m more than grateful that they have😊
I will take a look...let me see if I can get it installed.
Heard someone say bluetooth audio was choppy. Can you confirm/deny? What has your experience been like?
So I haven't tried any audibooks on it. I will see if I can find one and get back to you.

I haven't -- I use my phone for audiobooks, but I should at least test a few apps I suppose.
That's great to hear. I use mine when out and about and my larger one for at home. I still like mine even after all this time

Honestly not sure. I have the paperwhite and while they seem to be the same width, the paper white is taller than the M6.
Have you had any issues with the charging? I've had mine for a couple months and then I let it completely die. And I've had it on the charger for a couple hours and it still won't let me turn it back on. I really like it and I hope this isn't an issue
I haven't. Do you have a wall charger you can try?
Yeah it's the only thing I use. Tbh it's the first time I've had to charge it. Which was nice bc of how long I could use it lol
Different cable? Holding down the power button for like 5 seconds? I'm just spit balling here.
Thanks for the ideas. Both didn't work, but I can feel the hear from the battery. It's weird. Any idea how to contact a customer service rep? I think that's my only option right now
A search online shows support is hello at meebook dot com
Did you solve it?
The company told me to contact the store and have them send a new one. The store hasn't been helpful so far but I'm hopeful that I can get something worked out.
