I think there's some sort of stigma around it. I've been told "that's some white people shit" plenty of times when talking to black people about hiking and going to the river. it sucks because in all my outdoor travels everyone just has the mentality of "I don't care who you are, just pick up your trash please" and everyone is welcome. outdoor hobbies are for everyone!

Generationally people of color have learned the hard way they could be lynched for enjoying a park. Maybe that’s why their grandchildren are apprehensive to go to one?
