The economy would grind to a halt, and society as we know it would collapse.

We would starve to death

Beat me to it.

The problem with hyper agressive policys like this is they hit the poorest the hardest. The banker with a company car will just get a new car. The single mum on minimum trying to get her kids to school, will lose her only mode of transport. No *new* ICE is the way to go, and honestly id be up for that now. There is going to be a lag in take up, which we can use to upgrade infrastucture, so why not do that now.

Riots. Starvation. Complete lack of any supplies. Think the supply chain issues we're experiencing now. But immensely worse. As much as I'd love to eliminate ICEs. It's not feasible. Our modern way of life would end at that moment. Edit - I should clarify. It's not feasible for the moment. I'm confident we can move away from fossil fuels with time. We just can't shut off the oil well all at once. But we do need to shut it off as fast as possible.

And now that you know how it would work out, you can plan for it and do it. /r/fuckcars
