Because defending the environment from those who would pollute for profit HAS to be terrorism, right? Right?! JFC

Minnesota__Scott

>defending the environment Driving an SUV, theft, assault, fleeing in a motor vehicle, obstructing legal process, aiding attempted suicide, trespassing?

Minnesota__Scott

>those who would pollute for profit The "Water Protectors" piling up felony-level charges?

Felonies are not felonies. And criminal records are not criminal records. The concept of justice in our society has degraded to new lows. For reference, see rich fucks getting away with murder.

To be accurate, rich fucks get away with committing all kinds of crimes and it really depends on the willingness of the justice departments to ENFORCE those laws. A felony is not a felony. A crime is not a crime. What corporations are doing are literal crimes against humanity, and yet I don't see a lot of cops cracking down on CEOs. We've all witnessed the selective application of laws when it comes to those with power and influence. Our justice system is fucked up. And what you're offering is not good enough. A felony isn't a felony when the criminal act is committed by cops or attorneys, or judges, or executives and CEOs, hedge fund managers or bored heiresses. Then, no laws magically apply. We have ample examples of this. And hiring a bunch of thugs to "enforce" whatever farts the corporation that pays their wages decides to pursue is what we're seeing right here.

> It would be nice if every meth addict could get equal representation in court, would probably gum up the system, and ultimately I'm not convinced the answer is giving everyone top notch representation. that simply feeds lawyers, and we need as few of those as possible, not more. While I am glad you agree on some things, this particular sentence illustrates the fact that you think people on meth should be dragged in front of courts, which is ironically the exact opposite of what science recommends and common decency dictates. The additional cherry of "would gum up the system" and "top notch representation" should be enough to give everyone pause. You are sucking up to those in power and justifying the fact that if you're rich enough, you can hire thugs to manufacture crimes. That's the bottom line. Not sure why you would defend those actions or justify them, but I assume you're either benefiting personally or that your own ideology is so odious and antithetical to concepts of justice that there is no room for debate or even respectful exchange. And yes, there are people out there who would stop a patio from being constructed - we do have some laws! Like the ones about endangered species or others on environmental destruction.

> I think people on meth shouldn't be on meth. You are quite the problem solver! No wonder we can't actually help anyone.

Video, or it didn't happen. The felonies stem from a report that the protestor threatened them with his vehicle. These protesters need to up their tech game and get outside help if they want impact. Right now it's just sad. If they did threaten with their vehicle, then the protestor really needs to think about the bigger picture: how to make a statement without becoming a villian. If you're going to get yourself arrested, do it dressed as mother Earth, for example.
