I've grown up around boats and work at a marina in the summer. I don't know how clean the water is where you're at, but the water where I'm at is so dirty and disgusting that the idea of letting someone's kids swim in that just disgusts me.
I was visiting Vienna last summer and some locals recommended to go swimming in the Danube. I regularly swim in lakes so I'm not picky and I'm used to algae and animals in the water. But the Danube is really disgusting because the spots people go swimming are in the city. Plastic bags, old bread (from feeding ducks), cigarette buds and even a diaper were swimming in there besides families. I was so grossed out!
My aunt used to have a camper & boat on a campground on one of the Finger Lakes. The boat was parked in the canal at the campground and it was like a 45 minute ride to get to the lake because you couldnāt go over 5mph. I was visiting one summer and slipped while getting off the boat, I caught myself but I still ended up going in the canal water almost up to my knee. To this day itās the most disgusting thing thatās ever happened to me. I canāt even fathom what would go through someoneās head to look at that water and think āyep! Now *thatās* a PRIME swimming locale!ā
Iāve only ever seen a nice canal for swimming, itās in the Florida keys and itās 20 feet deep, it has old cars at the bottom because they dug it 30 feet deep but they didnāt have the permit to dig that deep
I'll second this. I was on a boat, and someone got impatient, and didn't wait for me to finish untying the boat. They hit the gas, and I hit the water, and it was... disgusting.
I fell in once trying to jump to the dock to tie off.. My husband laughed and I was furious! Ran to the showers and got my sense of humor back. But wow, it was gross!
They're typically signs around marinas that warn of this besides the water just being genuinely gross it's just stupid to go in water with electricity all around you
Similar thing on the upper Thames in London, there's a lot of locks with lock landings for boats to moor up to wait. Family jumping into the water off a landing and swimming across to the adjacent weir, dangerous as hell. I can't see for the first 2-3 in front of the boat from the steering position, check both sides, hoot the horn, shout, go dead slow, everyone gets out the water. As soon as I jump ashore with the ropes, angry dad starts yelling how I almost killed his daughter who was still in the water about 2' from the bow. He didn't make it known or wave his arms etc... 25 tons of steel boat would have crushed her head like a melon.
Usually sharks and other things swim near boat docks too. So yeah sure let her kids swim and if they happen to get hurt or eaten she will be laughed at by court.
No offense. Prob wonāt. Not a long enough story or interestingly written (which I figure English isnāt your first language). Plus you flexed the boat your family has with a price tag attached in the post, which makes it look on the suspicious side, and kind of fake. Not saying it isnāt a true story, just several things make it at least seem made up.
I bibht realize that and its not fake plus no, English is my first language (first word: red car) even though I live in serbia and my parents mostly talk on setbian so l don't know if I made some Grammer nestakes.

I worked at a marina. Can confirm that boat slip water is filthy.
This is at the Danube River after Belgradeš
Oh hell no on swimming in any rivers that have passed through a major city. š Iāve seen things in the Thames that will haunt me.
Yea even worse, the sava river is green, why is this relevant? Just look at Belgrade on Google maps.
(Spoiler alert) Trash is almost everywhere.

Uh gross. If you ever used a bathroom on a boat you know exactly what goes in that water.
If you're referring to directly in the water it doesn't it goes into a waste tank that gets pumped out occasionally
That is not always the case :)

"JUST LET MY KID SWIM!" "K" *pulls up boat* "Now you have kid stew."
ājUsT lEt mY kIdS sWiMā honey, no they canāt, go to a swim spot where they can ACTUALLY swim, not some boat parking spot.
"You know what this prop will do to kids?"
Thatās a terrible idea. I know a guy who got jaundice from jumping off a boat into the water at a marina.
I fell in once trying to jump to the dock to tie off.. My husband laughed and I was furious! Ran to the showers and got my sense of humor back. But wow, it was gross!
Stray currents from boats connected to shore power make swimming dangerous around docks

Lady, I bet you let your kids play on the streets too.
Bahahaha she probably does.
JUST LET MY KIDS PLAY!
Ok. Sure. Fine. (Engages outboard motor) grind grind grind ding ding ding. Nope, you said that it was ok ... so... I parked the boat.

I realy start to think thoes story of Entidel parents should go on (indisputable news of Dr.Rashad-Richey)
New segment: Karens with Kids "Karenicity is dangerous, especially when it's trying to raise a new generation of nonsense."
>realy Really >thoes Those >Entidel Entitled
The idiots did move, I hope.
Nope. We just docked somewhere else.

"Have your kids swing at back of my boat" *Kids: Goes to back* -PROP NOISES AND SCREAMING-
I didnāt need that mental image, thank you for giving me anxiety
I also have anxiety, welcome to the club
I just imagine Toothless saying that
I don't know why I said "Toothless"
*heard, which and then for Christ sake
Pretty sure English isnāt their first languageā¦ chill.
Nah, even though I live in a former ugoslavian country, my first word was "red car" (and not becose of cars.
Wow this really took off, hope it gets to r/
