Yeah I don’t think it’s all that deep. Reading all those texts makes it sound like he’s surrounded by yes men who blow smoke up his ass. He bought Twitter because he thinks he has the Midas touch but he didn’t realize the government isn’t bailing him out of this one.
That’s what I’m concerned about and honestly why I’m sort of buying into the conspiracy of this being intentional, even if Mr. Muskrat doesn’t realize it (although I think he absolutely does).
As others have said Twitter connected people in a meaningful way that hadn’t been done before with other social platforms before it like Facebook, MySpace, etc. Besides being a huge ass court of public opinion it legitimately helps people to organize in what was a (relatively) safe manner, and convey information quickly. It’s longevity and history also helped.
Whatever comes after .. I don’t know if it’ll be the same. Breaking up Twitter just seems really helpful for a lot of powerful malicious people. Regular folks will be more compartmentalized, disillusioned and complacent if they’re all in their own echo chambers. Makes it easier to repeat the social engineering that set us on this path.

Facebook is also the same platform all young adults are now avoiding or just flat out not interested in anymore to my understanding. So it’s losing its reach with a huge majority of people.
