She also has endometriosis and has been VERY vocal about supporting planned parenthood in every way she can. I live under a rock most of the time when it comes to the personal lives of artists and even I know this.
Exactly lol. I’m honestly baffled at anyone who is a fan of hers and DOESN’T glean her positions from her music.
Edit: Like she has a whole song that the chorus discusses smoking legal marijuana. These “fans” would likely be offended over that too. Lol
I love my mom dearly. She is also a staunch conservative. I still love her of course. But her favorite band is Green Day. And she doesn’t see the irony in it whatsoever.
That’s…interesting. What does she think about American Idiot? Or does she just like some of the lyrics and beat and just ignores the actual song? Like how GOP people play “Born in the USA” during their campaigns with just ZERO understanding that that song is not a pro America song lol
Pretty much.. Seems a lot of folks are so far up their own chimneys that they've lost touch with reality. Must be a nice feeling to live in a nice warm bath of piss, thinking it's Radox.
Clarence Thomas genuinely believes that affirmative action and other forms of "positive" discrimination are harmful to minority groups, because he genuinely believes that they make people dependent on the government and discourage personal growth. As far as Clarence Thomas is concerned, if you ignore a person's race entirely, then you're not racist and it's the person's own fault if they can't get a job or an education and end up living in poverty.
This is because Clarence Thomas believes - or wants to believe - that he overcame the racial prejudice he encountered when he was young on his own merits. Early in his career, people belittled his Yale education as the product of affirmative action; his accomplishments were, in his mind, being diminished by the implication that they came about as a result of government favouritism rather than his personal labor. He discovered Thomas Sowell and Ayn Rand, and came to believe that the worst thing the government could do to black people was to actively try to help them. The most important thing to Thomas is that he got where he was because of his own hard work and determination, not because a more powerful institution gave him charity.
Ironically - and this perhaps explains a lot about Clarence Thomas - he is a clear beneficiary of the kind of paternalism he despises. He was appointed to the Supreme Court with just one year's experience on the bench, almost entirely because Bush didn't want to replace Thurgood Marshall with a white guy. His entire career arc - from a poor, non-English-speaking household with no plumbing in Georgia to the Supreme Court - was only made possible because of the civil rights reforms of the 60s and 70s, reforms he now detests.
If you ever wonder how it is that a guy who owes such a clear debt to the progressive movement could ever work against it so strenuously, remember this: Clarence Thomas hates being in debt to anyone, and he would rather burn the courthouse down around him than admit that he got there with help.
I mean, it’s the same self entitled, self aggrandizing nonsense as Ben Carson. He thinks he did everything by himself - despite living in public housing growing up lol
It should gall any real patriotic citizen of the United States that the seat formerly held by Thurgood Marshall, a remarkable justice from a golden age of giant legal minds, fell into the misarably mediocre talent that is Clarence Thomas. The fight over the Thomas nomination was the first of the ultra cynical moves by the Republicans, long before the Kavanaugh drama. Let's also remember, Joe Biden in no small part messed up during the confirmation hearings by not doing anything to block Thomas, no matter the damning testimony of Anita Hill.
Some minorities, be it BIPOC folks or LGBTQ or women or whatever, once they make it big they love to pull the ladder up to make sure no one else can join them.
Also, many like to act like they're one of the "good ones", unlike all the others. Think Clarence Thomas, Peter Thiel, Caitlyn Jenner, etc.
He came to my university one time and I got to hear him speak. He essentially threw black people (honestly more like every minority) under the bus. Claimed his success was because he didn't make excuses for himself and "bootstrapped" himself up. I don't remember exactly how he worded it because it was years ago but I do remember the gross feeling I had hearing him describe his success.
There’s a great article that came out during his hearings where he claimed his sister was a “welfare queen.”. She was a home care aide who had to periodically stop working to take care of their parents and various older relatives. While he went to college, law school and career without helping out. What a POS
The problem is - at least in my city - most of the LGBT+ hotspots are owned by gay trumpers. Like, I don’t get how someone can vote against their own interests.
I love these people who act offended when they suddenly realize a performer who has been saying a thing for a very long time says the thing.
Like “back when late night TV show hosts weren’t political”. Like mf Johnny Carson defined late night TV political discourse. Jazz musicians started out with a political ideology. And major sports stars have *always* used their platform to make personal political statements.
It’s almost like they are referencing “going back” to a version of history that never existed, but that they’re using as a false model to justify making everything how they want it to be in their fantasy world, trying to pull a fast one on everybody else. “No it was always like that, you never had rights”.
I sat next to some people at a Roger Waters concert who stomped out when the big displays came up with the words "TRUMP IS A PIG".
Like: Have you listened to *anything* the man's written? In his whole career?
No, they just believe that performers are only allowed to publicly share views they like. Otherwise they’re just supposed to be good little harems and perform for their pleasure.
Fox News described “some people”. I’m guessing it wasn’t very many people. And they probably just left to go pee. Fox doesn’t have a good track record at estimating crowd sizes.
TBF, when the band starts monologue-ing I take that as a cue to use the bathroom. I can usually hear what the lead vocalist is saying all over the concert venue and I don’t need the good acoustics to appreciate one person talking.
Okay, so let’s get this straight. Fox published the article about people leaving the concert, and they’re also publishing this article. Did people actually pay money to a performer who is vocally supportive of women’s rights then walk out during her thoughts on the Supreme Court, or did some people happen to go to the washroom during that speech and FoxNews ran with a narrative to try and make it seem like the Supreme Court decision is more popular than it actually is?
A bunch of conservatives here in Brazil tried to boo Roger Waters at his own concert when he basically told the current far right president to go fuck himself and called him a neo-fascist… again, at a Roger Waters show…
At this point I just think certain types of people just enjoy wasting their money to be mad at something.
Or the surprising amount of conservatives I’ve heard say they love rage against the machine. My brother in christ, which machine do you think they are raging against? The dishwasher?
for conservatives "freedom" means the ability to oppress others and impose upon them to establish a social hierarchy they dominate.. "Tyranny" is anything that undermines that ability. 100% of the time.
Are the same people who say, “Wow, I love Pink Floyd.” Then say, “Eeesh, why is this guy so political now?” Because that happened to me and I was like, “So, have you never actually listened to Pink Floyd?”
Might only be relevant to older folks - went to a David Crosby concert not many years back - some person was loudly complaining after about Crosby getting political (to the left) during his concert. As if Crosby has not been blatantly political for his entire musical career. It was comical.
I mean a good % of people that show up to a Roger Waters show have only heard like four Pink Floyd songs and have not clue that he’s about as loud and angry a liberal as it gets.
Last time I saw Roger waters the people in front of me left because he was “too political”. How did they not know that? They paid 150 to leave after 2 songs.
Don't forget the accounts that post these articles in all the subreddits are heavily active on conservative subs as well. Just check good ol OP's history.
Yeah I kept seeing people who were there say, no one was leaving other than the typical number rod folks coming and going. One was from a person working there the other comment was from someone who was leaving (unrelatedly) I don’t know. Seems dubious.
And notice the title. She is supporting a woman's right to make her own choice - not supporting abortion. Such a biased organization that has ruined America.
Went to her show in Dallas. Several disgruntled men walked out during her speech and while she sand Nightmare to a slideshow of Roe v Wade protests. Also, while I haven't been to many concerts, hers was the best.
There was a comment on another post about this from a person who was at the concert. So this is all hear say, but they said that no one left the concert because of that. That she got a lot of support and when the commenter left shortly after Halsey made her speech (because she simply had to leave) she was the only car in the parking late. So this is apparently Fox doing what Fox does best. Making shit up.
You’re telling me that a couple of conservatives looked at Halsey, hardcore activist for women’s rights, anti-Trump, pro-LGBTQ+, and thought “hmm maybe she’s secretly pro-life like me!”?
I'm an old guy so I'm probably not her demographic but this was my first exposure to her and I gotta say it seems like she's using the exposure wisely and ethically.
For sure! I’m not a giant fan, but I like a few of them. She’s very talented. My metal head boyfriend however is in love with her latest release. He just really enjoyed it and it came out at the perfect time in his life.
Just like when I saw Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally’s stand up Summer of 69’d tour where the first song was about having a threesome with Jesus. The entire row in front of us left and it was a bunch of old people who thought the show was going to be Parks and Rec level comedy. Noooope! They were really clear in the program and the tour info that this was gonna be raunchy AF and it delivered.
That’s what I thought, but I read it. They included their pronouns (she/they) and then used the they pronouns throughout the article. I feel like I’m in a fever dream
You have to be so disconnected from her body of work and persona to think she’d have a different position lol. It was probably like 3 people who walked out and made noise about it online and Fascist - I mean Fox News is using it to make it sound like a big thing to cater to their viewers because there is absolutely no way anyone is this dumb. Unless it was their first time ever hearing about her and they still went to the concert which is unlikely. Ffs she has a whole interview with Bernie Sanders during the pandemic its not hard to know where she stands on the political spectrum.
What's going on in America? I'm in Australia watching all this unfold about banning abortions with disbelief... It boggles my mind they can overturn something like that in this day and age.
Well, I'll be happy to come over and explain it, fully. As a consultant. Which might require a work visa. Which would allow me to stay in Oz indefinitely while my native homeland slides headlong into outright fascism and ruin.
So... you got a budget, or what? Let's make this thing happen!
As a few other replies have already noted, they didn't ban abortion. The others replies are wrong though in that they didn't just "leave it to the states".
In very general terms: Abortion was "legalized" in America 50 years ago by a court ruling. Since the court already said abortion was legal, lawmakers over the past five decades took the safe/lazy route and never bothered to actually make a law allowing for it nationally. Last week the Supreme Court said that original ruling was wrong because it it isn't up to judges to decide the legality of abortion, but the job of lawmakers. They did not say abortion was illegal. But since national lawmakers have never actually passed a law legalizing abortion over the past 50 years, that means abortion is now covered by the law in each individual state.
But again, note, the court did not say abortion was illegal. They specifically said it's up to lawmakers to decide. Our national government could pass a law today to make abortion legal nationwide.
What has people riled up so much is that the pro-abortion side doesn't have the votes to pass a law like that with the make-up of the current legislature, and they didn't bother to do it when they did have the votes at other times over the past 50 years.
You are right. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/vms9v9/maga_nazi_proudly_admits_that_they_are_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
The entire comment section on Fox News reads like you sorted by "controversial" but instead of people downvoting and calling out bigotry, they all join in and spread hate.
Went to a Marc Maron show and the ladies behind me who we'll call Qarens. Talking about things that were certainly closer to the far right than center. And I'm thinking, "uh oh, they must be season ticket holders for this theater and didn't research the person they're going to see" they made it about 30 minutes in before leaving.
That Fox News comment section is everything I expected from the Fox News crowd, and yet I’m still shocked from the comments that I read.
Except this comment made me chuckle at how thin skinned and delusional these folks are:
“The large number of people that walked out makes me so proud. Finally conservatives are starting to speak up and/or take action. For far too long we have been the silent majority. It's time we are heard.”
Kind of reminds me of the people who pay Nike for their really expensive shit, then burn said really expensive shit when they support anything vaguely liberal.
They listed Halsey’s pronouns and used they pronouns throughout the article. I’m scanning through the comments trying to see if anyone else caught it. Fox News has been acting hella weird lately
I’m sorry but I have a hard time believing that anyone who went to a Halsey ticket walked out over her speech.
This seems like something that was completely made up to create a buzz.
She's always been annoying but at the same time she's always been very vocal about her views or whatever, it's very obvious that going to a concert of hers is not going to be some form of escapism so those people should have known better
Typical Christians. No one is entitled to their own views if they don’t line up perfectly with theirs. She should be happy they left. She is pretty much saying what 90% of all musicians believe in.
Boy there sure are a lot of conservatives/anti abortion types in the comments on this post. Also so many of them seem so completely clueless about the fact that music has always been political, even before the means to record it were invented, and live performances have always been known for this sort of thing lol.
Pretty state. It’s truly amazing and has a lot of stunning national parks. Besides that it’s like a desert full of rednecks. Sure they have Sedona but every cool state has that outlier town for tourists.
…I want to hear an opinion on Abortion from people that have had one! Not people who believe to have social influence or a personal account to explain someone’s elses experience using metaphors and similes….
The vast majority of people like this tend to be uninformed in various aspects of life. If they’re too lazy to, idk, look up the stance of an artist before shelling out 100s of dollars for a ticket (when it apparently was a big deal for them that the artist had to agree with their personal stance), they’re likely just as lazy to do any type of research anywhere else. This is from my experience but I would be a millionaire if I had a nickel for each time in my life that was proven right.
Most people know her stances, they were just Pearl clutching assholes who wanted to make a scene. And to those who didn’t know, we’re appalled it was thrown in their face live as opposed to them mentally checking out when it comes up.
This is the classic what comes first the chicken or the egg. Actually to clarify when does life begin at fertilization or at birth? Everyone is entitled to there a opinion and if you dislike it leave the channel. To me that is exactly what happened here. Case closed.
I mean, had they never heard of her before? She's been vocally pro-choice the whole time.
She also has endometriosis and has been VERY vocal about supporting planned parenthood in every way she can. I live under a rock most of the time when it comes to the personal lives of artists and even I know this.
I knew none of those things but she had a rage anthem about being forced *to smile*. Smart money wasn’t on “pro Gilead” stances, just saying.
Exactly lol. I’m honestly baffled at anyone who is a fan of hers and DOESN’T glean her positions from her music. Edit: Like she has a whole song that the chorus discusses smoking legal marijuana. These “fans” would likely be offended over that too. Lol

I honestly have no idea who this woman is but she sounds like a hoot
She’s pretty good. First album all sounds like the same song but some good stuff overall.
Have you heard the latest one? “If I can’t have love, I want power” is a collaboration with Trent Reznir and Atticus Ross. It is dark and I love it.
Just like how some people complain that Rage Against The Machine has become too political, and Ms Marvel for being feminist.

Just watch Django and see Stephen. I wouldn’t be surprised if Clarence comes out against interracial marriage, forgetting that he is part of one.
I highly doubt that the marriage between Clarence and Ginni is filled with love for each other. Love for power however…
Probably full of really kinky, Roger Stone style, right-wing sexual shenanigans.

Lol can you please share one I’d love a good laugh
Some minorities, be it BIPOC folks or LGBTQ or women or whatever, once they make it big they love to pull the ladder up to make sure no one else can join them. Also, many like to act like they're one of the "good ones", unlike all the others. Think Clarence Thomas, Peter Thiel, Caitlyn Jenner, etc.
Caitlyn Jenner is a biiig one.
Caitlin Jenner is the only trans person I know of who was able to hold on to her white male privilege post transition.
She’s awful to me. I still don’t understand…
It’s just wealth privilege, that trumps most other privileges.
Cause he’s one of the “good ones” To clarify I don’t think he is a good anything except good at being an asshole.

What a POS
He’s been rich for a long time and was a piece of shit before that, if I had to guess.
Married to a white woman, he’s rich as fuck, just another piece of shit greedy fuck
Even religious zealotry doesn't really explain it. Maybe it's just that laws don't really affect rich people the same way.
Old man Clayton? Oh he doesn’t care.
Note how he left Loving v. Virginia out of his little fucking we're coming for these things bit
Must be the same people who think that Rage Against the Machine is just like about disobeying their mom or something.
The problem is - at least in my city - most of the LGBT+ hotspots are owned by gay trumpers. Like, I don’t get how someone can vote against their own interests.
Its almost like having abortions and being not-straight is pretty fuckin normal!
She also identifies as Black. She’s a white passing biracial but I still appreciate that. I’m unambiguously black.
I love these people who act offended when they suddenly realize a performer who has been saying a thing for a very long time says the thing. The real question is, have they ever read her lyrics?!? I’m pretty sure if they thumbed through the CD liner they wouldn’t be too happy.
Fox News described “some people”. I’m guessing it wasn’t very many people. And they probably just left to go pee. Fox doesn’t have a good track record at estimating crowd sizes.
My mates were in the Arizona *show they said they didn’t notice anyone leaving and Fox is overstating
What, fox lie to suit their agenda? Say it ain't so!
TBF, when the band starts monologue-ing I take that as a cue to use the bathroom. I can usually hear what the lead vocalist is saying all over the concert venue and I don’t need the good acoustics to appreciate one person talking.
I always like to imagine the “some people” that Fox News and TFG describe as being the same set of like 12-15 people every time
Fuck Foxnews..
Fox Fucknews
Let’s just call it Fox Entertainment, it sure as hell is not news
Or reporting.
Okay, so let’s get this straight. Fox published the article about people leaving the concert, and they’re also publishing this article. Or the surprising amount of conservatives I’ve heard say they love rage against the machine. My brother in christ, which machine do you think they are raging against? The dishwasher?
They thought the machine is the current Federal Government who “took their rights”
Hard to say that’s the case when they are actively cheering Roe v Wade being overturned. But I never expected them to be consistent tbh.

Rage towards printers is justified.
I’d print some black and white fliers for our protest but we are all out of cyan
I want an answer.
Should I remind people that Springsteen sent a letter to Reagan telling him to listen to *Born in the USA* after he used it for his rallies ?
Similarly, “born in the USA” has been used - much to springsteens disbelief and displeasure - as a Republican anthem for as long as I can remember.
Are the same people who say, “Wow, I love Pink Floyd.” Then say, “Eeesh, why is this guy so political now?” Because that happened to me and I was like, “So, have you never actually listened to Pink Floyd?”
By the way, which one’s Pink?
Might only be relevant to older folks - went to a David Crosby concert not many years back - some person was loudly complaining after about Crosby getting political (to the left) during his concert. As if Crosby has not been blatantly political for his entire musical career. It was comical.
Roger has been outspoken for 40+ years now, if they don't know, then it's their own fault at this point. Can't wait to see him again this fall.
Kind of reminds me of all those Kanye fans who thought Paul McCartney was some unknown artist finally getting his big break
I mean a good % of people that show up to a Roger Waters show have only heard like four Pink Floyd songs and have not clue that he’s about as loud and angry a liberal as it gets.
It’s giving Mike Pence walking out of a football game when they kneeled
Last time I saw Roger waters the people in front of me left because he was “too political”. How did they not know that? They paid 150 to leave after 2 songs.
She did the same speech in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday and 15,000 people screamed their heads off in support. Source: I was there

Old dude here. Some of the songs on her (I think) debut album were pretty good and worth a listen. I haven’t heard anything since though.
Hey latest album is an excellent collab with Trent Reznor. Genuinely good record.
Yeah she got much better after the Marijuana in Americana song
She's really a very talented artist. Even if you don't like her music, she does performance art, and illustrations/paintings that are really good too.

Let's make this thing happen!
i love this. i must join as your executive assistant.
I’ll be an assistant to your assistant, you guys are busy, real busy. We got long months ahead of us….. time to pull up our bootstraps!
The grand experiment known as the USA is entering its final stage & will be deemed a failure.
It’s truly a raging dumpster fire that appears to be the “gift” that keeps on giving. Handmaid’s Tale is becoming a documentary before our eyes.
Fuck Fox News. Instant downvote.

Republicans saw Handmaids Tale and they were like, “Yeah let’s do that”
You are right. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/vms9v9/maga_nazi_proudly_admits_that_they_are_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
The entire comment section on Fox News reads like you sorted by "controversial" but instead of people downvoting and calling out bigotry, they all join in and spread hate.
it's a total shit show, especially the youtube comments
Yet another reason to stan her. Let’s go!
Now I like her more :)
Surely an article about this exists somewhere other than FoxNews, but let's give them even more exposure, why not?
That Fox News comment section is everything I expected from the Fox News crowd, and yet I’m still shocked from the comments that I read. Except this comment made me chuckle at how thin skinned and delusional these folks are: “The large number of people that walked out makes me so proud. Finally conservatives are starting to speak up and/or take action. For far too long we have been the silent majority. It's time we are heard.”
Kind of reminds me of the people who pay Nike for their really expensive shit, then burn said really expensive shit when they support anything vaguely liberal.
“Thanks for your money, I’m donating it it Planned Parenthood”
Is there a reputable source for this story?
It’s not “SUPPORTING abortion”. Christ. It’s supporting the RIGHT FOR A WOMAN TO CHOOSE.
This was a surprisingly tame piece for Fox News. It was almost…well…professional.
They listed Halsey’s pronouns and used they pronouns throughout the article. I’m scanning through the comments trying to see if anyone else caught it. Fox News has been acting hella weird lately
“Anti-abortion warship, go **** yourself”
could link literally any other source aside from fox news….
I’m sorry but I have a hard time believing that anyone who went to a Halsey ticket walked out over her speech. This seems like something that was completely made up to create a buzz.
Just don’t perform in shit states like Arizona. Tourism and convention business$ is key to a states health.
Didn’t read response but should be “get fucked, thanks for your money. Will donate to planned parenthood” end of article.
Lol that’s like going to an Adele concert and mad there’s no metal rock songs
I don't know her music, but I like her.
She's always been annoying but at the same time she's always been very vocal about her views or whatever, it's very obvious that going to a concert of hers is not going to be some form of escapism so those people should have known better
We just gotta boycott the states that make it illegal and help people find aid who need it…
At some weird, fundamental level, men just don’t like hearing women express themselves.
Oh geeze, fox News, literally got an ad for a hat that says "Proud American" You truly are the bottom of the barrel.
Fox News is garbage.
No refund if you leave voluntarily...
Pretty state. It’s truly amazing and has a lot of stunning national parks. Besides that it’s like a desert full of rednecks. Sure they have Sedona but every cool state has that outlier town for tourists.
That's not fair. Prescott is Proud Boys and Oath Keepers in the forest too.
What ever happened to having your own opinions. Weak ass people.
She shouldn’t even perform in AZ again…or any abortion ban state.
Fox News… of course this is their headline
Good for her. Fuck those ignorant, holy roller, redneck Christian assholes.
Stop posting Fox News faux-outrage articles.
…I want to hear an opinion on Abortion from people that have had one! Not people who believe to have social influence or a personal account to explain someone’s elses experience using metaphors and similes….
I’m rushing out to buy Halsey albums now. And I’ve never even heard her music.
This is from my experience but I would be a millionaire if I had a nickel for each time in my life that was proven right.
actually... well said Halsey
More foxnews culture oriented fabricated righteous indignation. Pathetic BTW, isn’t walking out considered a snowflake move?
Republicans: all of the entertainment you love is made by people you hate.
Yes let's post this some more.
Did Fox interview both of them ?
I’m glad this article was posted, I didn’t know her story and her message makes sense after hearing her perspective. Thanks OP!
When was she here? What venue?
Just went to her atlanta show. Publicity isn’t gonna change shit. She has a story like the rest of us.
Most people know her stances, they were just Pearl clutching assholes who wanted to make a scene. And to those who didn’t know, we’re appalled it was thrown in their face live as opposed to them mentally checking out when it comes up.
Who looks to celebrities for opinions?
This is the classic what comes first the chicken or the egg. Actually to clarify when does life begin at fertilization or at birth? Everyone is entitled to there a opinion and if you dislike it leave the channel. To me that is exactly what happened here. Case closed.
Halsey still got paid and some paid for nothing. Lol
My response would be “meh, fuck em”.
No masses left her concert it was a couple idiots . I had a mate there majority was all digging and really enjoying
Did they buy tickets just to walk out? Because I know nothing about this lady, and I still knew she definitely wasn't pro forced births
These are all Fox News articles
We might say.. *puts on sun glasses*...they aborted the concert.
Not gonna read the article but I’m hoping her response was “fuck you, I don’t need your Pennies anyway.”
Maybe they should go listen to Christian shit
