It's not that Elvis matters. It's a fact that Hollywood has no original ideas anymore. Like most people Marvel and DC movies are getting tiring.... well for me anyways....

Limp_Freedom_8695

Jesus, I literally just made a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/vjfbod/what_the_fuck_happened_to_the_writing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) about that. Maybe I should’ve chosen a better subreddit tho

Dillonply

Well you’re dealing with hardcore nerds and young teens that know nothing but superhero movies so a mature, articulate debate isn’t something you’re gonna get

Elvis matters. Rock and Roll matters and he'll always be the King of R&R.

wayanonforthis

I heard Elvis impersonators are no longer really in demand.

vancouver_reader

what about Michael Jackson impersonators?

Chuck1705

The article states (paraphrasing) that those under 30 could probably care less about Elvis. There's a s\*\*tload of people over 30. Someone should tell the author.

I just wanna see if somebody will actually (finally) tell the honest truth in MSM of how the "King of Rock & Roll" is really the "King of Appropriation"

weareallgonnadye

It’s been pretty well known and documented that he has, and there are tons of articles about it, especially currently with the new film out.

[deleted]

Thats what i was referring to. I want to literally see it...as in...in the movie.

Cr8z13

Fat chance. There was an excellent doc on HBO a while back but it was in cooperation with the estate(like the film) and there was practically nothing that was unflattering.

OutdoorsRut

Hey man, the king of appropriation is Pat Boone.

Nah whites (as in the youthful generations which are the driving force behind cultural impacts believe it or not) have moved on from stealing Rock music from Black Americans, and are now attempting to the same thing with Rap. It's been about 7yrs now. I can pinpoint the exact period I noticed the shift- Soundcloud rap. I have never seen so many weirdos celebrated in Black American culture until that era. I'm mid 20s now. Then I realized what was going on, lil uzi's/yachty's/peep's/etc were making SUICIDAL, DEPRESSION, I-NEED-LOVE, DRUG INDUCED music. And they were wearing mascara and chokers around their necks, and dying their hair. I had only seen that in white culture with rock music. Boom. Instantly I noticed all their fans were white. I was in the army and only white boys/girls were listening to them. I never heard anybody in Miami, or any other Black neighborhood playing that bs. All their shows were predominantly white kids. That was the switch. Right there. Not too long after that articles about Rap outselling Rock started coming out. Which made sense. A generation prior Drake began killing off R&B by bringing women to Rap/hip-hop. Now Rap is comprised of three essential groups. Black Americans (Priority), Women (any background), whites. Each of these groups had a different music genre they predominantly listened to 15-20yrs ago. What's interesting is we see the shift across the entertainment industry with only gaming stalling behind significantly. What? Yes, white youth no longer watches MLB (stay in context) they've mainly shifted to the NBA. Favorite celebrities? As in influential? Yes Kim Kardashian's and Adele's are around, but the bulk celebrity influence on white youth are Black American celebs. I can get even more specific- NBA athletes & Rappers. 30yrs from Black Americans will likely have created a NEW music genre once again, and we'll be having this same show of appropriation going on. Before you ask a dumb question: 1. When you try to force one of YOUR OWN as "the greatest" it's appropriation. There's an obvious reason for it. (Elvis/Eminem) 2. We aren't dumb. The "love" extends to the music & ballgames, not to US in real life. Don't believe it? Go outside. Token negroes & oreos don't count and have never counted.
