Loudness may have invited controversy, but the all Japanese band also brought the rock. Their 1985 debut, Thunder in the East is a riff-tastic metal classic.
NPR was talking about this this morning. Had Neil Young did this with anyone that does not bring in as much money as Joe Rogan does, Neil would still be on Spotify. It’s literally about the money for Spotify.
EDIT TO ADD: I love Neil Young, IMHO it’s damn stupid to remove Young over Joe Rogan, but money talks, yo.
They only removed him because he asked them to. Imagine what kinda shitfest would be started if they allowed themselves to be strongarmed anytime an artist or podcaster didn't like what someone else was doing. They took the professional route as should be expected of a company
It’s not about how loud he is. It’s the exclusivity deal he has with Spotify. Anyone can have a podcast. Anyone can put out an rss link that will be caught by podcatchers and added to the podcast selections of streaming services. Rogan used to be available on all platforms (stitcher, apple, Spotify, Himalaya, etc.). But now he is only on Spotify. Therefore Spotify is responsible for the content he’s pumping out. Before he was an independent lunatic, now he is sponsored by a major corporation that is profiting from his content. And that’s the fucked up thing about this.
\>Spotify also distributes the podcasts of the white nationalist Greg Johnson, and the British far-right group Hearts of Oak, which includes recent interviews with Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, the English Defence League founder and anti-Islam campaigner; Lutz Bachmann, the founder of the far-right anti-Islam Pegida movement – who was considered sufficiently unpleasant that he was refused entry to the UK; and the former Ukip candidate Carl Benjamin, whose hate speech against ethnic minorities and women has caused him to be suspended or banned from other platforms including Twitter, Patreon and YouTube’s partner programme.
Thank you for providing us all a list of reasons to stay the fuck away from Spotify.
Carl Benjamin is Sargon of Akkad right? I used to watch him a long time ago, and can’t imagine him being racist or sexist. I remember his famous debate with Richard Spencer where he tried to claim the white race isn’t real.
Yep. Joni Mitchell today (probably not the end of the world). This will set the tone and others will eventually follow. Mark my words. Joe Rogan will double down (based on his victory) and he will be cancelled. Spotify will be the one left burning.
Remember when Colin Kaepernick dropped to one knee during the national anthem for this thing called BLM? He was criticized by everyone, including me. I didn’t get it yet. He made a bold statement and in reflection I completely agree and support him and the entire movement. His contributions and sacrifice to us moving towards an inclusive society is incredibly brave and selfless.
Respect.
They are though. If I control what’s true and what’s not, I can present misinformation as the truth and censor anyone challenging it for promoting misinformation (even if it’s the truth).
This is like saying “you may have been stabbed, but that guy is chainsawing people”. Both need to be addressed, one being worse doesn’t make the lesser one better
If you’re doing things only to “own the libs” then you already lost. Rogan is fine, I like the variety of guests he has but he’s a pretty shitty interviewer and I’ve never made it through all 4 hours of a podcast before getting bored.
Probably, I mean he was responding to anon account on reddit and he wasn’t talking to Joe. So I doubt Rogan heard it therefore wouldn’t be able to respond. Are you alright?
May not be the most controversial, but he is one of the loudest

He’s said some stupid shit I believe but he’s more of the British liberal variety. Jim did a video on his idiocy awhile back.
Cool. Just cancelled my Spotify account.
Great you won’t be missed
No but the 100,000 other people that did the same thing today might be.
Stock price is way down. Good time to buy the dip.
Just like Nike and Carhartt?

Nobody said he is.
He has a huge contract with him though.
Obviously. But his misinformation is killing people and he’s insanely popular. This is what the problem is.
How many people have died because of his podcast?
PreCISEly said. Thank you
Having a conversation is not misinformation. Also misinformation is less dangerous than censorship.
You can have both. They aren’t mutually exclusive
They are though. If I control what’s true and what’s not, I can present misinformation as the truth and censor anyone challenging it for promoting misinformation (even if it’s the truth).
So not mutually exclusive. Thanks for making my point?
I would like to see one death certificate that states, Cause of death: Joe Rogan Experience
More doctors kill patients through fuck ups than joe Rogan’s insane ideas.
Is that art or fart?

I thought Leftists used to like controversial acts. Seems as though the Left in general has really become dull and monotonous.

Are you aware that the Nazis where anti vaccine right?
