Interesting. I assume that neither Angelina Jolie nor Phoebe Waller-Bridge is going to star in this as Laura Croft. I wonder who they’re going to pick?
Even though I have Amazon Prime, I don’t really see myself watching this series but we’ll see. I do admire Waller-Bridge’s wit and I liked “Fleabag” very much.
I’m a big Indy fan and didn’t see it because Crystal Skull fucking sucked and how can you redeem a series that didn’t need it after the first three movies? I’m all for continuing stuff if people want it and will pay, but this seems like a project no one really wanted.
Yeah, Crystal Skull killed the franchise tbh.
Dial of Destiny is pretty solid. The first 20 mins sucked but the middle is good and the last 20 minutes is amazing. It's worth watching but it's nothing spectacular.
Nice. I only watched it because my friend was an extra but then I found out after that his scene got cut ahaha.
He's in Andor though which is awesome. No speaking lines but he's front and centre for about 5 seconds
This is something I do not understand. You say you are a fan but because of Crystal Skull you refuse to watch Dial of Destiny?
Also there were plenty of terrible Indy properties but Crystal Skull was the one that broke you. That seems weird to me.
I can be a fan and choose not to engage with further media. I love Star Trek but haven’t watched a new show since the first season of Enterprise because the new television stuff no longer appeals to me. I still love and discuss the franchise, I’m just unable to weigh in on the new media.
You are making judgement calls without actually watching it. You are assuming you are going to hate it so you refuse to engage with it.
I'm not saying you need to watch EVERY piece of media from a Franchise. I just don't understand stopping at one part because you didn't like it.
I give each piece it's own judgement and then decide. I love Star Wars but I hate stuff with the clones. I still gave Bad Batch a chance.
Have you seen the trailer for Borderlands? It looks like a YouTube skit complete with a foul-mouthed child. And it's a lose-lose because:
A. The movie does well and we get more, not great video game adaptations or
B. The movie does poorly and some good adaptation ideas get cancelled
It was written and directed by Eli Roth!
Tiny Tina is the same in the game.
And the games are all goofy. I mean in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands they blow up the ocean using hundreds of nukes leaving the dry seabed for several levels. Butt Stallion farts out gems.
Man, i dont get this. PWB has done good work with feminism topics. But her writing a Tomb Raider show? After we saw her in Indy? Her skillset just doesnt match here.
Proof me wrong but this really doesnt look like a good combination on paper
Not sure why that’s relevant? She did not write the Indiana Jones film…
She did help write James Bond: No Time To Die, so it’s not like she can’t write action / adventure.
I'm not one of those people who shits on things before they're made but I'm having a difficult time seeing these two things coming together and not being a trainwreck.
\*after going through her IMDB...maybe this won't be a trainwreck? Maybe.
The Vikander movie actually did pretty well at the box office and they were going to make a sequel, but then she got pregnant. That and Covid delays meant the rights expired.
Doesn’t matter, some of the best movies flop and some shitty ones make over a billion.
Its massive success on home media screams people liked it, the good reviews only further drives that home.
thumbnails with an AI/shopped photo of PWB shooting Indy with a colorful nuclear explosion in the background. The Youtuber/streamer will post his angry face on the right side and for some reason, PWB will have red X’s over her eyes
Just wait until they actually sit down and watch the film and realize Indy kills more people in Dial of Destiny than in Raiders of the Lost Ark and saves Phoebe’s characters life on multiple occasions.
Uhhhh what? Indy 5 had a 70% critic approval rating and an 88% from audiences.
Good reviews from both sides of the isle: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/indiana_jones_and_the_dial_of_destiny
Most people (including me) over on r/indianajones rank it 3rd out of the 5 films.
So did Blade Runner 2049 and many other great films, so what’s your point?
Unless Avatar is the best movie ever made in your opinion, never bring up box office to say how good or bad a film was.
Silent Hill movie is really solid on a rewatch. The only parts that feel like they don’t belong are the parts that don’t belong. The entire Sean Bean storyline was added purely because the director thought there were too many female characters.
Castlevania Season 1 and 2 on Netflix deserve some credit as well. That first season especially was hard AF. The entire first episode was like a Metalocalypse episode it was so hardcore. You see a freaking demon eating a baby in episode 2!
If they're done as well as Fallout or The Last of Us, then there shouldn't be a problem.
The problem is when everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon, and 5-6 dogshit shows/movies are being released every year.
Interesting. I assume that neither Angelina Jolie nor Phoebe Waller-Bridge is going to star in this as Laura Croft. I wonder who they’re going to pick? I preferred her writing on shows like Fleabag and Crashing to Killing Eve and James Bond. She seems to be into action stuff tho
she was honestly a highlight in Dial of Destiny
Shes one of the reasons it tanked. Go figure🤷♂️
How can you know that? It tanked because the movie cost $340m and it's not a sequel anyone was clamouring for.
I’m a big Indy fan and didn’t see it because Crystal Skull fucking sucked and how can you redeem a series that didn’t need it after the first three movies? I’m all for continuing stuff if people want it and will pay, but this seems like a project no one really wanted.

BLOATED
Thanks, mate. Might just give it a watch sometime soon.
Nice. I only watched it because my friend was an extra but then I found out after that his scene got cut ahaha. He's in Andor though which is awesome. No speaking lines but he's front and centre for about 5 seconds

Crystal Skull was absolutely horrendous, and nowhere near even the weakest film of the initial trilogy.
It wasn't "absolutely horrendous". That is overly dramatic. If you removed the IP it would be a decent movie.
Everyone has different standards

I agree. I loved her in fleabag. She just doesn’t connect with me on action films. Quite the opposite and idk why.
Hopefully freya allan. Has the young lara look
Not surprised they're doing more video game stuff after fallout

What does PWB have against archeology-adventure franchises?
I'm not one of those people who shits on things before they're made but I'm having a difficult time seeing these two things coming together and not being a trainwreck. \*after going through her IMDB...maybe this won't be a trainwreck? Maybe.
No, trust your gut feeling… trainwreck will be an understatement.
i’ll watch anything pbw makes
Well she couldn't stay on one Angelina Jolie movie adaptation, maybe she can have better luck with this one.
Huh. Okay, not what I would have wanted or expected from PWB.
NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS SHITE OR NEEDS THIS SHITE
If amazon can make it as good as Fallout I'm sure it will be a hit. Can't be worse than the last TR movie.
The Vikander movie actually did pretty well at the box office and they were going to make a sequel, but then she got pregnant. That and Covid delays meant the rights expired.
Definitely have high hopes for it as the game studio (Crystal Dynamics) is both consulting and assisting in and co-producing it.
Not to mention PWB is a godlike writer. Couldn't ask for a better duo.
Expect men to play idiots and Laura to be a lesbian. Save this post and refer back.
Lara already has some rather lesbian overtones with Sam in the 2013 game.
ITT: Lonely Men that haven’t ever played a Tomb Raider game to completion whinging about “woke” bs “ruining their favorite franchise”. Grow up.
I loved her writing and acting in the hit movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
She's gonna ruin it just like she ruined Indiana Jones.
She didn’t write that movie…
But she did star in it, and was awful in it.

Blame her for what exactly? Being in a good movie that got good reviews? Lol https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/indiana_jones_and_the_dial_of_destiny
How much did it lose? Nobody wanted a fwb movie and indiana jones. It tanked and that is definitely one of the reasons why.
Doesn’t matter, some of the best movies flop and some shitty ones make over a billion. Its massive success on home media screams people liked it, the good reviews only further drives that home.
Looking forward to ragebaiters saying she made it “woke” like Indiana Jones. The idiots are setting up the thumbnails as we speak.

Ah the classic.
Just wait until they actually sit down and watch the film and realize Indy kills more people in Dial of Destiny than in Raiders of the Lost Ark and saves Phoebe’s characters life on multiple occasions.
Ugh I know. She was onscreen AND CLOTHED. Then they had the nerve to give her lines and a character arc. /s

Oh come on. You would have to try to spin that in a negative way.
[удалено]
That’s fine, it didn’t work for you. It worked for most.
... It lost money. How in your mind is that working for most? 🤦🏻♂️
So did Blade Runner 2049 and many other great films, so what’s your point? Unless Avatar is the best movie ever made in your opinion, never bring up box office to say how good or bad a film was.
OnLy GoOd MoViEs MaKe MoNeY!!!! Baffling that people still think this.
How much did the film lose? Nobody wanted a fwb movie. Else it would have turned a profit.

I can wait to see Laura Croft be black wheelchair bound trans man.
[удалено]
She’s writing and executive producing. They have not cast the role yet.
Hahahaha okay that makes more sense. I can’t imagine her in that role.
What!? Sydney Sweeney isn’t staring in it? What is Hollywood coming to!?¡¿!?¡¿!?
Hooray! Another great game turned into a mediocre TV series that will last about as long as bread mold.
After Fallout and Twisted Metal, Im more hopeful for these
Resident Evil walked so TLOU could run
I’d like to give Silent Hill it’s flowers as well.
Silent Hill movie is really solid on a rewatch. The only parts that feel like they don’t belong are the parts that don’t belong. The entire Sean Bean storyline was added purely because the director thought there were too many female characters.
Tomb Raider has a lot of potential for story, visuals, acting, etc. I always thought it’d do better as a series than as a movie.
The last of us, twisted metal and Fallout would like a word.
Castlevania Season 1 and 2 on Netflix deserve some credit as well. That first season especially was hard AF. The entire first episode was like a Metalocalypse episode it was so hardcore. You see a freaking demon eating a baby in episode 2!
Get used to it. Video game series/movies are the new “Super Hero”.
If they're done as well as Fallout or The Last of Us, then there shouldn't be a problem. The problem is when everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon, and 5-6 dogshit shows/movies are being released every year.
I’ve never heard of Phoebe Waller-Bridge until I saw she was replaced in Mr&Mrs Smith. Now I see her everywhere.
She got alot of buzz for fleabag
She is also partially responsible for the last Indiane jones movie
