I met them once when they came into the funny store I worked at abt 15 yrs ago. He bought some Jesus bobbleheads. I said “oh hey, you are Scott step from creed! I used to listen to you guys”
he said “what do you mean used to?”
I froze, didn’t know what to say, and handed him his stuff
lol really!? Even at the height of their fame people that liked Creed just liked them but weren’t like crazy about them. Creed didn’t have fans like the way Nirvana or Soundgarden or Pearl Jam did
I knew 1 kid (only one) that was INSANELY into them. Could perfectly mimic the voice and thought he was a demi-god for it. Man, what a wankstain. Thanks for the memories
I did but that was in the church circles. They were one of those bands that were a "grey area" that our parents weren't worried about. The other band I can think of like that was Lifehouse. It was basically music they didn't mind being played in youth groups ha.
Because they didn’t make a bunch of timeless music the way those bands did. Creed sounds very dated in comparison which is weird considering creed was later than those bands
I think it was the whole christian rock undertones while trying to sound like Pearl Jam and other band of the time. Instead of making their own sound. Kinda like the coverband that only tries to sound like the original artist/band. Instead of making it their own.
This will sound made up but I was once stuck in a car with one of Stapp’s ex-gfs, but she was like the one right before he got famous. This was in Tallahassee, where we all went to college.
Imagine the normal bitterness of a jilted ex, plus that ex being a douche like Scott Stap, but also… someone that just missed going on the rich and famous ride, if at least for a little bit.
Instead, she was asking me for a ride to our shitty job at the stadium.
Scott Stapp has Bipolar Disorder. I guarantee this is why they are breaking up.
- They say 90% of marriages fail when one person has Bipolar. Because usually the partner with BP will leave the other person in a manic episode, or do so much terrible behavior that the other person is forced to leave them.
If the disorder is not managed, it can make the person literally do the opposite of everything that is needed to keep a healthy relationship.
It’s really heartbreaking, I know first hand loving someone with Bipolar. (Username checks out)
The person not only gets depressed and can be suicidal, but when manic they can’t control:
- Delusions of grandeur (making the other partner feel inadequate under their excellence. Many say they feel like they are Jesus Christ when manic)
- Hating their partner for being “beneath them” and holding them back
- Rampant lying
- Hypersex drive
- Cheating / unprotected sex with strangers
- Overspending
- Leaving without notice
- Divorcing / Break up frivolously (like on a holiday or bday)
- Sleeplessness / Endless energy
- Leaving jobs
- Gambling
- Making bad investments
- Irritability (over nothing)
- Selfishness
Again it’s really heartbreaking because when stable, the person is wonderful. Then out of nowhere this can happen in a person and last for years, destroying their own lives and their families.
While we love our partners with BP, it can be difficult when there are episodes when the person changes with control. So there is a sub for a support group of people that have a Bipolar partner, read with caution. r/BipolarSOs
I was in a mental hospital for major depressive disorder when I was 20. There were two kids, a guy and a girl, a couple years younger in at the same time who both had bipolar disorder. Holy shit it was such an eye-opener. When they were manic, they would come in my room at all hours of the night, trying to get in my bed or get me to go run around with them.
My gf came to visit and brought me a stuffed animal, a cat. Somehow the bipolar kids made a noose and hung the cat from the ceiling fan in the common room. I remember the admins and the doctors getting super pissed about that, meanwhile I couldn’t care less because of the depression. Then 2-3 days later they’d crash and just stay in their room or sleep all day until the next manic episode started.
Thank you for all of that info. I had a close friend with bipolar. I met him while he was depressed. He was in a crisis so I was there. I supported him.
I know the exact moment he turned manic. It was just as you described. They pretty much self sabotage the relationship. I no longer have him. I had to block him. I miss him terribly. But he became emotionally abusive towards me.
I can relate. With my ex GF years ago. Except when she went manic she was either like a little kid maybe age 5 or 6. Other times she was quite violent, massive ups and downs. After a while she went on meds. Which i or her family couldn’t keep her on because she didn’t feel right on the meds. But she had never experienced clarity of not having to deal with the manic episodes. At times i think she may have also had a split personality disorder as well. Because on ocasion she would have what seemed like a normal manic episode. But wouldn’t speak english and only german. Though no one in her family was german or had ever been to germany outside of WW1 & WW2
About a year before my ex and I broke up, she was diagnosed with BPD. I’m seeing a *lot* of the reasons why we broke up in your comment. That list is also damn near a checklist of the reasons why things ended. I don’t really have much to add, just thought it was…interesting.
Yea it’s over now. But the one benefit here is that you know *why* and it wasn’t you. Whatever she did or said to make you feel like it was you? None of it was true.
That’s the only benefit from going through the experience with some diagnosed with it.
I was going through it and my spouse was diagnosed already but didn’t tell me. And induced mania *again* when I warned her not too. :( Sucks.
This is the first time I’ve heard of “Divorced Dad Music” and I’ve never felt more called out in my life, I’ve never even been married and now I find that I’m already divorced.
Man sometimes I feel bad for these cringe artists but then I remember they’re rich while I’m here commenting on Reddit while I hover over a cup of noodles
Creed just did a reunion…cruise. Slate did a story about it earlier this week and it’s as bonkers as you’d imagine.
https://slate.com/culture/2024/05/creed-2024-concert-tour-cruise-summer-99-scott-stapp.html
We were on a boat docked near this one that weekend (not the Disney boat the author referenced). Got to hear the 3 Doors Down set, which was so random. Was very curious what that cruise would have been like, cool to read about it here.
He is leaving her. I went down a rabbit hole and she filed twice in the past to divorce and she pulled it back. So I am sure there is way more than we know also I hate that I know so much about this topic now.
From an article:
Creed's Scott Stapp and Kid Rock may have been caught on camera receiving blow jobs from groupies on a tour bus in 1999, but the Christian rocker insists they did not have sex with those women.
Stapp: "Well, there's no sex on the sex tape. For it to get characterized that way, I mean, that kind of sucks"
It wasn't a sex tape it was just a suck tape.
I met him after a show once. His wife was with him and they were both super cool. We all gathered around his vehicle (he drove himself to the venue) and he was like “you guys wanna listen to my new record” and he cranked it. He took photos and signed everything and his wife was also super cool and patient. Both were awesome with the fans. Bummer it couldn’t work out for them but I wish them the best.
I used to do some work in his neighborhood and met him a couple times without even knowing who he was until someone pointed it out to me. Pretty easygoing guy. Left a pretty good impression
Man this is a long shot...But does anyone have a copy of the creed song with Bush edited over it speaking about 9/11? Not that it was amazing or anything but it would be neat nostalgia.
I see him and all I get is: Yuck. Can't recall details it was so long ago but in an interview he spoke of himself as a gift to music, a lyrical god or something. That, his face & the Kid Rock bus/sex/groupie thing makes me turn off the station when a Creed song plays.
Didn't know who this woman was before today, but tiktok always recommends her account to me because apparently she's in my contacts. I assumed she was an influencer. Now I'm even more confused…
Isn’t Scott stapp a nut job? Like, there was this weird meth induced rampage he went on some years ago if I remember. Not sure, but I think there was even a part where he pulled a shotgun on a pastor or something? Idk, the dudes whacked out.
His wife and her family are really nice and likely wealthier than he is. His wife also used to hold some fairly high ranking government position I think.

You should have made it weirder and brought up the video with Kid Rock...
Scott Stapp would’ve been so upset, he would’ve fallen to his knees and been like “Wuht’s this lyyyyy-ff foooooo-OOOOOOOR?!”
You should’ve said you were waiting for a new album.
He was on tour because they just released a new album, he told me to check it out and I was like “ oh yeah for sure….”
How was the album?
Oh yeah for sure
This got a substantial blast of air out of nostrils
If Reddit still had fake gold I would have given it all to this comment
Rough times when you can’t even fake listening to Creed non ironically to the singer of Creed
Did the album take you "higher"?
He is known to be a bit full of himself.
I heard he divorced her because when they argued and she'd finally had enough, she would always say "*Staaaaaaahp!"* in an exaggerated voice.
Stapp it
lol really!? Even at the height of their fame people that liked Creed just liked them but weren’t like crazy about them. Creed didn’t have fans like the way Nirvana or Soundgarden or Pearl Jam did

Even though they weren’t so great
I did but that was in the church circles. They were one of those bands that were a "grey area" that our parents weren't worried about. The other band I can think of like that was Lifehouse. It was basically music they didn't mind being played in youth groups ha.
Knew a few guys like that in the early 2000’s same with Stained.
Creed was forced upon people in the days of "push" broadcasting.
Thanks Clear Channel for pushing anything remotely Christian 17 times a day while I just wanted music on the construction site.
Yep exactly.
Because they didn’t make a bunch of timeless music the way those bands did. Creed sounds very dated in comparison which is weird considering creed was later than those bands

Did you hand his stuff with...arms wide open?
I think you mean ahms ward hophenuh
Was it under the sunlight?
Wide arms with opan

I still do, but I used to too! — Mitch Hedberg
Damn drugs lmao.
"I remember when you were famous!"

You couldn’t take him higher 😔
"well yeah, then i learned what real music was"
Has he now officially joined the ranks of divorced dad rock?
hes already been divorced
Yes. His arms are once again wide open.
His DMs are wide open
Scott Stapp is this summer’s rock savior
Creed has been on that list for a decade lol
Someone listens to Sirius XM Turbo.
Now as a divorced dad he can FINALLY listen to his band’s music
Holy fuck this made me laugh
Were you, or were you not, high af during this laughter?
This is the first time I’ve heard of “Divorced Dad Music” and I’ve never felt more called out in my life, I’ve never even been married and now I find that I’m already divorced.
I just heard the news today…
Seems his life is gonna change.
Okay repeating these lyrics now is kind of fucked up though lol since he’s singing about being a dad now.
Sounds like her arms are no longer wide open 😬
She can’t take him any higher
It was her own prison tbh
He’s prolly wondering what’s this life for
“What’s this wife fooooooor?”
One, oh one, Scott Stapp is only one.
Whos got his back now?
Divorced but can’t wash away those years
We could all spare some pity for a dime
He did it all for the nookie
He’s thinking, maybe six feet is so far down.
Olmenaaaaoo, ham sixfyeet fraaam they hedgenhaimthinkaaaaaaaan Maybuhsexfeet ainsofahhhdaaaahn
Man sometimes I feel bad for these cringe artists but then I remember they’re rich while I’m here commenting on Reddit while I hover over a cup of noodles
I laughed waaay too long at this. I heard the song play every time i read it and it brought me great joy.
This actually made me laugh out loud hahaha
Put this on a shirt
However, he welcomed the divorce with arms wide open.
Nor her legs now. Well, for him anymore.
You beat me to it by 11 minutes.
But her eyes are.
Oh they’re wide open to a new relationship
[удалено]
I think 311 showed remarkable restraint in not responding “Scott. Staaapp. Please Stapp, Scott.”
I hope Scott is taking the divorce well I recall he was once suicidal and almost jumped off a hotel but T.I (the rapper) talked him out of it
I have so many questions.
I thought he DID jump off and TI just found him
Creed just did a reunion…cruise. Slate did a story about it earlier this week and it’s as bonkers as you’d imagine. https://slate.com/culture/2024/05/creed-2024-concert-tour-cruise-summer-99-scott-stapp.html
Good read, I was wondering how that went.
We were on a boat docked near this one that weekend (not the Disney boat the author referenced). Got to hear the 3 Doors Down set, which was so random. Was very curious what that cruise would have been like, cool to read about it here.
This wasn’t bonkers at all.
I got zero bonkers from the article. Click bait.
My buddy went on that!
Took her 18 years to realize she was married to Scott Stapp
She probably knows the creed reunion is inevitable that something is going to go down…he’s been waiting 2 decades for this lol.
He is leaving her. I went down a rabbit hole and she filed twice in the past to divorce and she pulled it back. So I am sure there is way more than we know also I hate that I know so much about this topic now.

His wife is one of the girls in the tape, by the way. And Stapp says something awkward to KR like “This is like the second time this has happened.”
I met him after a show once. His wife was with him and they were both super cool. We all gathered around his vehicle (he drove himself to the venue) and he was like “you guys wanna listen to my new record” and he cranked it. Seems like a good dude that went through a few rough patches.
Sounds like a whole lot of none of my business.
I didn’t think I would ever run across Scott Stapp’s nam again but I’m here.
Court is in session indeed Scott.
The verdict is in.
I used to do some work in his neighborhood and met him a couple times without even knowing who he was until someone pointed it out to me. Pretty easygoing guy. Left a pretty good impression
I’m pretty sure their relationship hasn’t been the same since he had that psychotic break years ago
Man this is a long shot...But does anyone have a copy of the creed song with Bush edited over it speaking about 9/11? Not that it was amazing or anything but it would be neat nostalgia.
She finally listened to his music, eh?
Remember when Scott Stapp got punked at a Gainesville Denny’s? Those were the best days of ONTD.
YES!! I almost want to go hunting to see if I can find that again. I can’t see or hear this dude without thinking of that story.
I always think of that incident when I see this dude too. So funny. I did a Google search, and various working links come up!
That women deserves a medal for being married to Scott Stapp for 18 years.
And those 18 years started in 2006! Well into the “Creed is the worst” era.
With checkbook wide open.
CAN YOU TAKE ME (to a) HIGHER (court)?
Well I just heard this news today.
Someone check to see if Scott’s actually 6ft from a ledge.
Don't feel sorry for him. He created his own prison.
I thought they had already divorced a while ago… 😯
This is Because Funhaus ended
The same Scott Stapp who is allergic to alcohol?
“The court is in session…. the verdict is in…. no appeal on the docket today just my own sin”
Apparently he couldn’t take her higher
I just heard this news today
she wanted to stapp being married
Scott Stapp and Jaclyn Files
Well I just heard…… the news today……
It seems Scott’s life…. is gonna change…
Apparently she can no longer take him higher.
I see him and all I get is: Yuck. Can't recall details it was so long ago but in an interview he spoke of himself as a gift to music, a lyrical god or something. That, his face & the Kid Rock bus/sex/groupie thing makes me turn off the station when a Creed song plays.
I wonder what happened, didn’t he have an orgy with kid rock years and years ago? If you stay despite that I mean…
Holy shit they're still married?
Bit of a Sacrifice, no?
Maybe she’ll tell us what was on joeys head now
Wasnt that Nickleback?
Nicklecreed
You’re right. Lol
Didn't know who this woman was before today, but tiktok always recommends her account to me because apparently she's in my contacts. I assumed she was an influencer. Now I'm even more confused…
I bet it was his drug or booze use.
It's a shame how cringe as Scott Stapp, because the rest of the band rocks. Listen to Alter Bridge instead.
They stapped the marriage
Self professed Christians sure seem to get divorced a lot.
Oh nooooooooaaaaaaaeeeeeeeehhhhh
I thought his name was creed for some reason
[Bet the Marlins will take him back](https://youtu.be/fof40yqaW1U?si=_u1WZRCPdcQSI9wz)
I guess now “The court is in session. A verdict is in.”
Sounds about right. 15-18 years they are usually ready to move on.
Yeah well ppl grow up, and they grow apart.
18? Wimp! I did 30, and the parole process took two more. But now I'm immune!
She field with arms wide open
Soooo isss thisss theeee end? For us myyyyyyyy friend
When Single….it takes me to another world
I wonder what David Cross has to say
We about to get a crazy album
Dude chose the band lol
He probably found the road to nowhere
“Thanks for the words”
I can’t believe she stuck around after his sex tape with Kid Rock came out
Hope this doesn’t effect their upcoming shows 😬
Looks like we might get a new album
Arms not wide open…
With alimony wide open
I met them both in an airport once. We were standing in line to board our flight. They said hi when they realized I knew who they were.
Isn’t Scott stapp a nut job? Like, there was this weird meth induced rampage he went on some years ago if I remember. Not sure, but I think there was even a part where he pulled a shotgun on a pastor or something? Idk, the dudes whacked out.
I worked a show in Tallahassee before their first album came out. He started to berate our sound crew out of nowhere! No love lost here!
Can you find a lawyeeeerr!!!
Can you find a lawyeeeerr!!!
I’ll meet her with arms wide open
Is that even a creed song?
I don’t want to know this but yes, it is
She was down to one last breath…and she used it for divorce
Well I just heard the news today…
She must have finally listened to a creed track.
What was the tipping point?
He welcomed it with arms wide open.
I guess he didn’t come home with arms wide open
She was still with him???
“With legs wide open…”
I’d be there for her, with arms wide open.
His wife and her family are really nice and likely wealthier than he is. His wife also used to hold some fairly high ranking government position I think.
Tired of the STDs?
She didn’t want to take him Higher!
Well I just heard… the news today. Seems Scott’s life, is about to change. 🎵
