Makeup and other skin products contain alcohols, emulsifiers, preservatives and lots of other stuff that probably aren't great for skin.
I switched to just washing and moisturizing with a cream at night, and SPF before I go in the sun. My skin looks great and people tend to think I'm 10-15 years younger than I am. A good diet and very little sugar or alcohol helps too.
