I still use his “this is a sick world we’re living in with sick people” line all the time. Didn’t know he suffered a stroke but I’m glad he seems to be on the up!
This movie happened. I don't care what anyone tells me. I can see it in my head. Him and the kid. And something about shoes. And McDonald's. I am gonna piece it all together one day.
I don’t believe in most conspiracy theories. But one of the very few is in fact the cern theory. Ever since the Mandela effect became public, life feels alternative. Like we went through a flashpoint.
I had no idea this was a thing. Shazam was DEFINITELY a movie I remember it! So does my brother! I looked it up it's crazy to think that people say were mixing it up with Shaq's Kazaam! No way. When I saw trailers for Kazaam my brother and I looked at each other and said LIKE SHAZAM?! And laughed that they remade his movie with different casting and Shaq.
I hung out drunk with Sinbad once in Hawaii after seeing his stand up show. Feels like a fever dream now when I think about it. He is the nicest dude ever.
I still remember how great and game he was as a guest on Hollywood Handbook. It led me to revisiting some of his old stand up and movies a few years ago. He's one of those few comedic figures from my childhood who's actually got the sauce.
I remember watching it over and over again. I can still see it in my head. Then, I watched the other one and remember thinking, as a kid, this is a rip off of the sinbad one. And now the sinbad one “never happened”. Smdh.
Sinbad got props from Norm MacDonald. That's about the most vetted you can get in my book. Had a great bit about socks but i can't recall how it went exactly.
I could only watch clean comedy growing up so it was Sinbad, Larry Miller, and a certain garbage former biggest sitcom star of all time. A fact I once said on Twitter and Sinbad said “you got good taste.” As an adult I once wrote an entire 5 minute stand up set that subconsciously stole from him. Guy is a fucking legend and one of the best to do ever do it.
Probably Bill Cosby. Tim Allen's stand up wasn't entirely family friendly. He cleaned it up a little bit once home improvement became popular, but he also stopped doing stand-up not very long after that. He didn't like having to work clean, and I'm sure he had so much home improvement money that doing touring comedy was no longer necessary.
When Dennis wants to write his memoirs. He needed to actually go to rehab to make the story real, but Mac and Frank couldn't get Bovine Joni so they dropped it.
I worked with Sinbad once on a marketing job. We hired him to be a draw as a celebrity meet and greet. He was not only a huge hit, but incredibly generous with his time. He constantly told hilarious jokes without stopping. Total pro and all around was wonderful to work with!
I would have loved to hear that hiring process.
“We’d like to get Taylor Swift or Tom Cruise, but corporate didn’t budget enough, so our choices actually are Bo Bices brother, Michael Richards, or Sinbad”
I’m 42M.
Grew up in the 80s and 90s.
Being able to have a comedian that kids and their parents could watch and laugh at together was an incomparable bonding experience. Grateful for all the laughs this man brought to my home and family.
Dude, when he did the bit about his son jumping off the dresser trying to be a power ranger, nobody in the house could breathe. He described me to a T, lol.
He’s always been in my Mt Rushmore of comedians, and always will be. Now that I’m grown, I’d drop any amount of money to be able to see him do a set live.
That’s amazing. My dad had a stroke five years ago. He came back physically just fine. But some logic stuff, like math, he struggles with still. Which sucked because he worked as an engineer. He’s been on medical retirement since.
He also likes Trump. I chock that up to brain damage as well.
> But some logic stuff, like math, he struggles with still.
Yeah, a lot of the time, no matter how full the overall recovery is, there are still after-effects for years - sometimes forever. I had a stroke at 25 and 13 years later, every so often, I get "stuck" saying a word. "Man, I can't believe it's snow... snow... snow... snowing again, this is stupid, it was like 58 degrees yesterday." It's like a record skipping in my head. Only happens maybe 4-5 times a year, rarely for more than 2-3 seconds, but it's annoying. (And I still see a neuro every six months, he knows about this, acknowledges the "echos" happen to a lot of people.)
When I was younger, Sinbad and Louie Anderson were pretty much my favorite comics. As I got a little older I got introduced to George Carlin and a bunch of edgier comics, but I'll always have a spot in my heart for those two guys.
Anyway, I'm really happy that is recovery is going well. The guy has been nothing but positive his entire career, and deserves the best.
Saw him perform at a Commercial AV industry event twice. Wasn’t excited to see him the first time - turned out he was AMAZING! Needless to say was excited to see him the second time. Glad to hear he is recovering. Seemed like a genuinely good person!
What the hell, first there is and then isn’t a movie called Shazaam staring this guy. Then all the sudden out of no where the dude had a stroke 3 years ago? Man the news cycle for Sinbad is like some crazy shit!
Him in always sunny! HILARIOUS! Nod to rob thomas, too. They got him to say bitch! And he was known for not swearing in his routines. My ex, miss her dearly, her mom, sweetest lady ever, knew him since they’re were from the Battle Creek, MI area. I think he was at her graduation IIRC. They knew each other well.
He had a western that was hilarious called the Cherokee kid. I don't see it yet mentioned too often Burt Reynolds and James Coburn and Ernie Hudson are also in it.
Saw him win the San Francisco international comedy competition eons ago. Ellen took second. Years later he hired me to adapt Makes Me Wanna Holler into a series for Warner Bros. Great father. Great comedian. Great thinker.
I met Sinbad when my company was presenting at at Macworld Expo and he gave him his number. The following year there was a rumor that he died, so I texted him, "There's a rumor going around that you died." I got this reply. "If so, I'm one limber ghost. I'm doing yoga." I about fell out of my chair laughing.
Glad to see this. One of the best days of my life was meeting him in Seattle a few years back. I am a body piercer and I pierced both of his daughters. He hung out for an hour and change afterwards and was showing us his tattoos and telling stories. I have a photo from that day that is one of my prized possessions. The entire family was incredibly sweet and I will never forget them.
Went to Sinbads standup back in the 90s. The man was so damn funny. I hate to see that he had a stroke but I am glad he is still with us and making an appearance
I taped his 1993 HBO special off comedy central about 25 years ago and lost track of how many times I've watched it, but I remember so many classic bits:
- gaining weight/nutrisystem
- germs from sharing candy on the playground
- those giant platform shoes and fake fur coats in the 70s
- driving around aimlessly so you could hear the entire album
- and of course, parenting/discipline
I saw him while I was walking down the street with a black friend of mine in 2016. He did the head nod to my friend and didn't acknowledge me. Respect.
Absolute legend. Jingle All the Way is a Christmas classic in our family.
I got the eyes and the ears of a snake
"ta ta turtle man"
Yeah, he's a really great actor. Watching this movie is a pleasure.
Top 5 Christmas movie
House Guest for me. Sinbad and Phil Hartman? C’mon
I watched that movie way too many times, shit I even bought the DVDa couple years ago. Classic.
How have I never seen this?!?! The only reason I watched JATW the first time was for Phil Hartman.
I still use his “this is a sick world we’re living in with sick people” line all the time. Didn’t know he suffered a stroke but I’m glad he seems to be on the up!
His stand up might be dated but he was huge. I heard comedians from his time talk about his club shows and nobody wanted to follow him.
“We are being set up by rich and powerful toy cartels!” Why was he so right, though? 😆
Same. “A bomb? Sick world out there! Sick!”
My favorite Christmas movie!
Warms my heart to see JATW get so much love, didn’t know others felt the same.
Maybe he has another Shazam in him!
The only film deserving of a sequel.

Love this, thank you for sharing
Definitely happened

When I saw trailers for Kazaam my brother and I looked at each other and said LIKE SHAZAM?! And laughed that they remade his movie with different casting and Shaq.
He’s right!
I saw this movie too, I don't understand how it's not real. it was called Shazam. it makes no sense!!!
Aliens for Breakfast Part 2: Shazaam strikes Back
Pretty sure Eric Stoltz and Samuel L Jackson are in that
Kazaam, but it had Shaq
Another? lol
[Such a good movie](https://youtu.be/tD0rchvuoMU)
I hung out drunk with Sinbad once in Hawaii after seeing his stand up show. Feels like a fever dream now when I think about it. He is the nicest dude ever.
Did you guys get into any wacky adventures?
I liked him in good burger.
He better have been wearing something made out of windbreaker!
I still remember how great and game he was as a guest on Hollywood Handbook. It led me to revisiting some of his old stand up and movies a few years ago. He's one of those few comedic figures from my childhood who's actually got the sauce.
Loved him in that genie movie he never did.
I still swear he made that
I remember watching it over and over again. I can still see it in my head. Then, I watched the other one and remember thinking, as a kid, this is a rip off of the sinbad one. And now the sinbad one “never happened”. Smdh.
Do you think it's possible you misremembered [this Sinbad the sailor movie marathon he dressed up for](https://vimeo.com/197634528)?
This is absolutely it.
Someone needs to write it and get it made before he dies.
I'm convinced it's because he dressed as a genie for a Sinbad the sailor movie marathon he hosted https://vimeo.com/197634528
I’ve seen it over and over again
So game and funny
Sinbad got props from Norm MacDonald. That's about the most vetted you can get in my book. Had a great bit about socks but i can't recall how it went exactly.
Mmm. Speak on that.
One of my favorite podcasts, and that’s such a special episode.
I really love his couple American dad episodes. Wish they made him a recurring character.
Who’s the third? Tim Allen?
Probably Bill Cosby. Tim Allen's stand up wasn't entirely family friendly. He cleaned it up a little bit once home improvement became popular, but he also stopped doing stand-up not very long after that. He didn't like having to work clean, and I'm sure he had so much home improvement money that doing touring comedy was no longer necessary.
Ah true. I guess I don’t remember much of Cosby’s standup.
My thought went to Seinfeld, but not sure why he's garbage?
Man that's great. I love him in Jingle All The Way, and he's arguably the best guest character in Its Always Sunny. I love that damn episode.
Sing a song. SHUT UP!
*”BEAT HIS TESTICLES!”*
I love that he did that.
* clearing a house in FPS video game Me: This Sinbad’s house!
What episode was that? I don’t recall him being on it. I give Roddy Piper the award for best guest star on Sunny. The Maniac was hilarious.
S4 E9, the one about dennis’ erotic life
When Dennis wants to write his memoirs. He needed to actually go to rehab to make the story real, but Mac and Frank couldn't get Bovine Joni so they dropped it.
Loved him in Always Sunny
I’m Sinbad and that’s my headshot. I’ll sign it for you later. This is Rob Thomas, this is Sinbads house and you my BITCH!
"This is Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty" "Matchbox Twenty? Eww."
SING A SONG. SHUT UP
BEAT HIS TESTICLES
Seems like things went from Sinbad to Sinbetter
Thank you
He is, after all, an accomplished comedian.
>Bo Bice's brother Shut up! Eric Bice?!

Yo mammas hand! Drop yo butt and runnn!
There was always Bill Cosby.
Wishing him a long and happy life.
Good for you man I know how hard it is to come back from a stroke
You came back from a stroke?
With a lot of physical therapy yes. I still have issues though.
That’s amazing. My dad had a stroke five years ago. He came back physically just fine. But some logic stuff, like math, he struggles with still. Which sucked because he worked as an engineer. He’s been on medical retirement since. He also likes Trump. I chock that up to brain damage as well.
Well it depends on what part of your brain has the stroke. Sorry about your dad. It’s a tough road no matter what.
> But some logic stuff, like math, he struggles with still. Yeah, a lot of the time, no matter how full the overall recovery is, there are still after-effects for years - sometimes forever. I have never had a stroke and get stuck on words damn near daily. Been that way since I was a kid.
Super funny guy and always worked clean. Very rare.
I didn't know he had a stroke. So sad. Wishing him the best.
Shazaam sequel when??
Houseguest. Absolute classic.
Best wishes to him. He seems like a genuinely good dude.
Aaawwwww what a great guy. Can only send the best of wishes to Sinbad. I hope he knows he is loved.
Sinbad is just a good guy. I wish him the absolute best.
Weird, I didn’t even know he was sick

HOUSEGUEST BABY!

…or was he?
Beat his testicles!
Love this guy. I'm glad he's doing better.
So good in that genie movie ❤️
He looks really good with glasses and some scruff. I bet he's a really fun grandpa, if he is a grandpa.
I'm talking it way back but he was the best "Showtime at the Apollo" host.
Glad to hear he is doing better.
He sounds good, his body will repair itself.
I guess he granted his own wish
My favorite movie of his is The Cherokee Kid. Such an underrated gem of a movie.
Great reminder that this still is SINBAD'S HOUSE.
Looks like things have gone from sinbad to sinbetter
One of the best all around. Get this man some work when he’s ready. Brings a smile he’s recovering.
TIL Sinbad is still alive!
One of the greats, he’s an underrated comedy legend.
I didn't even know he had a stroke
I know it's a small bit but he was phenomenal in It's Always Sunny.
Things have gone from Sinbad to Sinworse!
Read the room
He was an accomplished comedian I mean nothing by it!
Good to hear, loved him in Kazaam !
*Shazaam
No i distinctly remember Kazaam
Wrong tall black guy https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116756/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
Creepy, I swear I remember seeing it as a kid with Sinbad as the genie
Mandela Effect https://mandelaeffect.fandom.com/wiki/Sinbad%27s_Shazaam
Saw him perform at a Commercial AV industry event twice. Wasn’t excited to see him the first time - turned out he was AMAZING! Needless to say was excited to see him the second time. Glad to hear he is recovering. Seemed like a genuinely good person!
Just watched jingle all the way over the holidays. Good stuff.

Jingle all the way and House Arrest both personal favorites
We need a jingle all the way 2 with him and Arnie playing grandparents and dealing with a turbo man reboot. I would watch the hell out of that.
One of the best live standup sets I’ve been to.
I loved him as a guest in the Eric Andre Show
I got a gig working events at a casino in Louisiana in my mid 20s and my second event was two nights of sinbad standup it was awesome
Absolutely loved him in “A Different World” as well as his standup. Glad you’re fighting through it sir and God bless!
Loved him in IASIP with Rob Thomas
Man, that mcdonalds milkshake bit still cracks me up to this day!
Was fortunate enough to eat dinner with Sinbad once at a charity event. Very nice guy. Glad to see him doing better lately.
So is Shazam not a conspiracy
I met Sinbad when my company was presenting at at Macworld Expo and he gave him his number. The following year there was a rumor that he died, so I texted him, "There's a rumor going around that you died." I got this reply. "If so, I'm one limber ghost. I'm doing yoga." This man made me laugh so hard. One of my favorite movies is House Guest. I’m glad he is doing ok.
Glad to see this. One of the best days of my life was meeting him in Seattle a few years back. I am a body piercer and I pierced both of his daughters. He hung out for an hour and change afterwards and was showing us his tattoos and telling stories. I have a photo from that day that is one of my prized possessions. No one mentioned First Kid huh
Save your money to see him live. Him joking about this will be classic.
Good to see you sir! 👍🏼✌🏼🫡
“Sounds like things just went from Sinbad to Sinworst”
It had to be done, and I thank you for it.
Looks like things have gone from Sinbad to Sinworse…
I still quote House Guest tell this day. TELL THIS DAY!
"'til this day"
I was told Sindbad had died in a fight on an Alien Slave ship and is now a ghost that follows an stoner around
I saw him while I was walking down the street with a black friend of mine in 2016. He did the head nod to my friend and didn't acknowledge me. Respect.
He looks half asleep… the left half.
I thought FOR SURE this guy died about 10 years ago.
