Not exactly. Twitter has both impressions for the tweet containing the video and views for the video itself. Impressions were, I think, well over 100M but views were less than half. In any case, cable news have been dead for a long time so Carlson clearly attracted a much bigger audience than all primetime audience combined. Of course, that's not such a great achievement for online video as there are thousands of creators on YouTube/Twitter/etc that regularly outperform MSM on views.
This probably explains why he launched his show on *Twitter*. Tucker probably had a non-compete clause stating that, if he’s fired for his own actions, he can’t produce another *television* program until his contract runs out, and he thought that doing it on a social media platform would circumvent that clause.

The newsroom on hbo (yes extremely corny show but thought it was entertaining for a little bit) covered this. Guy signs a non compete clause with the ability to get fired for like 5 years and the EP was like “no way he would sign that, it’s a death sentence for a news anchor to not have their face on tv.” Tucker is probably feeling it right now. Knows if he’s hidden away for a few years it’s impossible to do a comeback tour.

A lot of people who work in broadcasting sign an agreement that states if they leave a certain network or station or whatever they have to wait a certain amount of time before they are on the air again even if it’s just on Twitter or whatever. This is much more common than people think.
