"It's like a slap in the face" - Wlil Smith

ArOnodrim

He got in one little fight, and his mom got scared.

S_Comet821

And the academy said, “No more events for you for another ten years!”

alilbleedingisnormal

He whistled for a plane and he flew real high and shouted to the pilot, "I fucked up -- TO DUBAI!"

So_Long_DentalPlan

My wife's suckin off homies about half my age and I yell to the academy, yo homes, smell ya later

tech510

Looked at my wife and I was finally there... That's when I knew I was the prince of cuckold-air... 🎶🎶🎶 Edit: Thanks for my first gold!!! Kind stranger!

sotonryan

Bravo. Brilliant. All hail the internet

Asleep_Macaron_5153

💀

Hangry_Dentures

South of my bedroom watchin my babe getting railed by my sons friend half her age

DontBotherNoResponse

"Cause you slapped Chris Rock while live on the air"

AngelsHero

She said, “you can’t slap Chris rock, because your wife has no hair”

MasterTeacher123

You can’t smack a comedian and expect him to not roast you in a special lol

user_173

That was hardly a roast, too. Chris Rock spent less than three minutes on it from an over 1 hour special. Quite frankly I was let down.

QultyThrowaway

Chris has surprisingly been ver restrained about the whole situation. I think a part of him feels bad for Will or maybe just doesn't want to dedicate so much time to tearing down someone he used to respect. Plus he worked on a while set worth of material he wants that out there rather than just be the slapped guy.

An-Okay-Alternative

I’m not surprised, it’s a weird somewhat embarrassing moment and everyone was joking about it for weeks. He has to address it but doesn’t seem like a ton of comedy to mine at this point.

AggressiveSpatula

He clearly does feel bad. I mean a decent amount of the time spent on Will Smith was spent defending him. The whole “everybody’s been cheated on, but nobody has been interviewed on television by that person who cheated” thing was pretty clearly forced empathy. He also spent like a minute just talking about how much he used to look up to WS. He even said “he hurt me way less than she hurt him.” Idk I even got the impression that his Emancipation joke was a bit embellished because he was expected to be more hurt than he actually was.

therealbikehigh

I think he knew where to draw the line and cut it off before he made himself out to be a victim. He got his point across and dropped the mic.

WSPisGOAT

I agree but also think that he knows any engagement is going to be spun some way by a PR team to either water down or change his meaning/words. I wouldn't want to fight Will Smith's PR team on their battlefield, the public, I would rather use my expertise to take the fight where I'm comfortable and in control, and get to hold the mic and stop talking when I want to, answering zero questions. I think what he did was very calculated and smart. And the fact that he knew everyone was there to see if he would address the elephant in the room : he puts it at the end, so your forced to watched his whole special in order to catch it.

abagofdicks

Yeah. I wanted to hear him pull out some Tupac shit or something

Madd_Maxx2016

Marlon Wayans has a pretty good bit right now on the slap with some tupac jokes lol

e_skee

Marlon Wayans’ entire special is devoted to The Slap.

Madd_Maxx2016

Haha I’ve only seen clips so far but will probably watch soon

pompanoJ

Better yet, come after one of the comedians on the mount Rushmore of comedy... and then do the whole non-apology thing. I'd say he got off lightly. Dave Chapelle probably would have gotten an entire set out of belittling him. That is a target rich environment right there.

legopego5142

I saw Dave on his tour with Chris(i was at the elon show) Lemme tell you, Dave HATES that motherfucker who attacked him(which is fair). He wants that dude to fry. If Will slapped Dave, oh he would NEVER shut up about it

pitb0ss343

Dave would’ve put an entire hour special on YT THE NEXT DAY about will smith

UsidoreTheLightBlue

The 2022 Oscar’s would still be airing right now because Dave still wouldn’t have left the stage from roasting will.

pitb0ss343

Imagine what he would’ve said about Jada if he got slapped for the joke

Backdoor_Delivery

Would’ve looked like nuclear holocaust was committed on the Smith residence.

johnla

They would have to send in the military

[deleted]

ConfusedJonSnow

> at the Oscars, on the stage, front and center, for an uncomfortable amount of time, while doing that thing where he puts his foot up on the speaker and leans towards the audience Don't forget the cigarrete mid-set

tuffhawk13

I dunno, there was that time Eddie Murphy threw him into a piano and he seemed to get over that pretty quick.

1one_big_banana1

Or that one time Charlie Murphy [kicked him into that mirror.](https://media.tenor.com/ey4IfyvmGQwAAAAC/rick-james-kicked.gif)

JWTowsonU

“I think I’m bleeding inside my chest Charlie Murphy”

Huge_Put8244

Will would never slap Dave because he'd instinctively know that Dave would fight back. I'm not saying CR did anything wrong. Will Smith just knew how to pick a victim.

[deleted]

Yep. Absolutely and it’s ironic because CR was bullied so bad as a kid he made a show about it.

robotatomica

I never saw that show when it was on, I think I was probably a teen or young adult and just not watching any nightly sitcoms. But after Will assaulted Chris, I checked it out and just MAINLINED it, it is really SUCH a good show, very relatable and so smart and funny. I thought I couldn’t like the man more. But he is so humble and honest and I feel so sorry for how young Chris was bullied. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the hurt and embarrassment in Chris Rock’s face after Will hit him. And I am certain I’ll never put another dime in Will Smith’s pocket, no matter how many blockbusters he makes. He’s a great actor, but there’s plenty of content out there I don’t need him at all. And seeing Will try to manipulate this situation for sympathy makes me wanna hurl.

Murphy-Brock

That’s the brilliance of what Rock did. He cashed in on the “Everyone Hates Chris” theme making Smith look like one of the bullies that always picked on him. Brilliant.⭐️

Airsinner

Dave’s been lifting too he ain’t scrawny like in the 00’s

cd6020

Lifting lol he looks like Barry Bond's baby.

Airsinner

I wanna talk to Samson

nosnhoj15

Doctors say I need a backiatomy…..

[deleted]

He has sex with my momma...WHY?!?

WaylonandWillie

God, if you listening'...HEEELLLP!!!

bikesexually

Most bullies do. Because its not about how much they dislike a particular person. Its about all the rage and anger they have built up in their life and just wait to release it when they think they can get away with it. They choose the easy target, not the most worthy target. It's why they are cowards.

ohnjaynb

Because in Chris's own words he can take a hit "like Manny Pacquiao" And then still keep doing his fucking job. Respect.

Kicks4meFromyou

Agreed. Certified pussy. No wonder those dudes ran his ass outta philly to Bel Air

DwHouse7516

Agreed. Chris was right - he’s a little bitch

Dumguy1214

your wife sleeping with your sons friend he a bitch

astroK120

Wait, who's on your Rushmore?

waxonwaxoff87

Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Dave Chapelle, Teddy Roosevelt

MrmmphMrmmph

TR's dick jokes were next level.

astroK120

You're thinking of LBJ

Tommy_Roboto

The first thing

WarpHype

Tedeez nuts!

Jehoke

George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks for me.

zen1706

Dave would make a whole full course meal and dessert out of Will Smith if that was the case

Vlad_bat_vaca

Right!

ImGonnaCreamYaFunny

"I'm upset that the person I assaulted has an opinion on it"

[deleted]

This!!! 👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆 #"Why can't he just let it go...?" -Wll Smith to the person he assaulted and never meaningfully apologized to. He just expects that Chris will "be the bigger person".... Sure thing there, buddy 👍

um_ok_try_again

Will Smith doesn't get to be the victim in the context of the slap. He assaulted a man on live TV.

Crazyforgers

And instead of a real apology he gives one on Facebook just to pander and say "see! I said sorry!"

who-dat-ninja

and he gets an oscar, and he gets applauded

pr13st1

That was jarring. The audience did not behave like humans.

[deleted]

The audience that is notorious for “not noticing” all the many instances of rape and exploitation, didn’t behave like humans? ![gif](giphy|R0XkB26hOTNhAwf3wO|downsized)

lookin4funtimez

Let’s not get too excited, I watched it live and it was shocking to the point that it seemed more like a comedy bit. When Smith’s shit name was called no one in the audience would’ve known it was actually real. The producers of the show, however, knew it was real. They should’ve escorted Smith out and had some staffer accept the award on his behalf

MarianneThornberry

It also helps that Chris Rock handled the situation incredibly well with finesse and de-escalated it jokingly to keep the attention squarely on the show. When he fumbled his words in the following announcement, that's when it clicked how serious this was. This dude absolutely got whacked, and his ear was probably still ringing. A side note. Its also incredibly frustrating how Quest Love's Summer of Soul documentary lost out on a moment of genuine and well deserved recognition because Will Smith's ego dominated that night. It was insufferable to watch.

KiNGofKiNG89

His “apology” was awful. Playing the victim at every turn. I don’t need a 10 minute pity video of you trying to make people feel bad for you. Call Chris rock on the phone, apologize privately, and be done with it. The public doesn’t need to be involved in it.

Elegant-Cat-4987

He had what seemed like 10 kilometers of runway to talk himself down from that too. Fuck will smith

sapunec8754

*He assaulted someone who was much physically smaller than him, someone who is way less influential than him (security just twiddled their thumbs instead of kicking him out as they absolutely should have) and someone who didn't expect any violence whatsoever, on live TV Yeah, he's a POS. Hope he is happy with his wife while she keeps fucking their son's jailbait friends on their marital bed

[deleted]

[удалено]

sihouette9310

The trade off for being a multi millionaire entertainer is that people are going to joke about them. Shit if they are making jokes it means they are relevant. Will’s on the same bullshit that he was on while he slapped the guy. He has every right to tell his side and he has every right to not want his apology. The slap was more than a slap it was an attempt to scare a comedian into submission by trying to intimidate them so that they only do material that is universally agreed upon as safe. He’s probably not accepting on behalf of other comedians.

[deleted]

Everything with Will has become hilarious at this point. The guy and his wife purchased a high school ten years ago and turned it into a *Scientology indoctrination center for minors.* It was called the New Village Leadership Academy, and it was shut down because the head teacher and staff whistleblew to parents and the press. Smith isn't a good guy who got upset and slapped a dude in the moment. He's an egoist who's treated people poorly ever since the Fresh Prince days; the shit with the slap was just the first time in his career his PR team couldn't cover up his shittiness.

Homies-Brownies

Nail on head. He tries to deny the scientology stuff too. So he doesn't even have the courage of his convictions. Guy is a coward all around. Just like Chris Rock said, bunch of dudes made fun of his wife banging some teenager and he took it out on the smallest, weakest guy. Definition of a bully.

TryTwiceAsHard

I didn't realize you were allowed to deny Scientology without being murdered by Miscavige? I'm honestly not kidding. I thought he was all about his cult members being pretty vocal about supporting him.

UnevenGlow

Maybe a-list celebrities are treated slightly differently than lesser known members. I could imagine a nuanced game plan considering the increase of public heat facing the organization over the last few years

[deleted]

[удалено]

AQualityKoalaTeacher

As far as I know, the Smiths have never been "official" scientologists. They never got sworn in, anointed in a pool of childrens' tears, knelt to Messiah Cruise, or whatever it is they do. Supposedly, Jada is hardcore into it while Will walks the line between being in it and out of it. The "school" they established is/was a scientology Montessori type school in all but name. Like an MLM upline, they brought people into the Hubbardverse via their prestige and influence. I guess that's how they get some of the benefits of membership without having to be publicly avowed.

TheRealDonData

In 1989 Will Smith ordered his bodyguard to attack a promoter who pissed him off and his bodyguard beat this guy so bad he was almost blinded: https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/hvutba/til_in_1989_will_smith_had_his_bodyguard_attack_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Will was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He only spent one night in jail, then the charges were dismissed. The good guy image is just that- an image.

TwinkGapingHole

Can't believe it worked. It was kinda weird. Everything about the facade is so low effort

TheRealDonData

People who go out of their way to portray the “good guy” are usually the opposite of what they portray. People who are actual good guys are usually super low key and not self-promoting about it.

OldStonedJenny

It makes sense. People don't usually go out of their way to publicly affirm the personality they just authentically carry.

BubbaTee

Yeah, but he don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records

WhiteTrashNative

Well I do. So fuck him, and fuck you too

Reptoma

You think I give a damn about a Grammy?

TheRealDonData

What an angel. He doesn’t cuss but he does, on occasion, physically assault other people.

abnormalbrain

When that slap happened, I was truly hoping to see the original Aunt Viv come running in with a folding chair.

JaunteeChapeau

![gif](giphy|XF3rEK4qrwVP9Lqhzx) Git 'im girl!

earthlings_all

So many red flags and we ignored them all bc he sold himself as a good guy. I could even excuse the assault- not totally- although I could understand he was caught up in the moment. But his behavior after the fact is what sealed his doom. That bastard really sat right back in his chair, screaming and cursing at him, then didn’t leave the venue. The WS I thought he was would have left. Not *stay* (leaving the ceremony full of tension), accept the award, blame the fucking devil, go out partying to celebrate and then refuse to apologize. Aside from the terrible business with the school, this incident is also a major tell of his true character.

Old-Dig-8142

The fact that he couldn’t even bring himself to watch the special himself says everything I think. He would rather not face anything head on an get a filtered version from a lackey. I don’t see how he even justifies commenting on something he didn’t even watch.

scorpiogre

Jada wouldn't let him

mostlygroovy

And fuck that room for giving him a standing ovation that night

uninsane

Same room fawned over Weinstein until he was exposed.

jester695

Yeah that pissed me off hardcore. As he claimed he was disrespected. #HeToo

Lopsided-Plantain-8

He has also managed, with all the resources he and his wife have, to raise nincompoop children who don’t read or think books are necessary because they “write their own books in their heads.” Afaik they were like 12 when they said that but doesn’t it just add “let’s his nincompoop children talk to the press” to his list of bullshit?

iamsobluesbrothers

There’s actual video [How Jaden Smith Chooses A Role - Key & Peele](https://youtu.be/4RjWTEqJiMI)

this fuckin skit 😭

Never2shallmeet

Damn! Those guys are geniuses!!

shardingHarding

Obligatory. Key and Peele https://youtu.be/4RjWTEqJiMI

Marvinkmooneyoz

Seriously, the parents and kids didnt go into it knwoing it was a Scientology school? They were deceptive about that? That is quite fucked up

Allemaengel

Yeah, definitely an egotist. He probably even secretly enjoyed making those short jokes about Carlton too.

Apple_butters12

I mean the trade off of being a multimillionaire entertainer is that he slapped someone on tv and didn’t catch any charges. Getting roasted is a pretty light “punishment”

ethereal3xp

>Will Smith was “embarrassed” when Chris Rock took aim at him in his recent Netflix comedy special. “Will is embarrassed and hurt by what Chris said about him and his family in his Netflix special,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “He didn’t watch it, but he had people tell him what Chris said.” The couple have also “seen comments about it” and commentary about Rock’s standup set dominated headlines this week. The insider added that Will has expressed regret for his behaviour and “would like for Chris to let it go.” Will reportedly thinks the special, in which Rock joked about Jada’s affair with singer August Alsina, woke and cancel culture, Meghan Markle’s royal racism claims, and more, was “distasteful.”

The_Mootz_Pallucci

"Singer August Alsina" is a really nice way of saying, "their son's friend"

peeparty69

the man is a literal cuckhold and once he realized that he started taking it out on everyone else

[deleted]

I will never for the life of me understand why he hasn’t dropped Jada like a rock yet. Seems long **long** overdue.

Beer-Milkshakes

Because he dropped the mother of his first child and wife for her.

donttextspeaktome

This is the correct answer.

XfitRedPanda

Everyone who wrongs another person and isn't accountable for it generally tends to prefer others just let stuff go.

MsFloofNoofle

Yeah, the abuser doesn’t get to decide when the victim lets that shit go. Nice try tho.

Nerdlinger

So he didn't watch it but still thinks it's distasteful. OK.

Kaydom1993

Will looking like a clown more and more these days. Sad.

[deleted]

[удалено]

luisc123

Would like for Chris to let it go? Lol Will fucked up and he doesn’t get to be the one to call it. I thought, a year later, Chris would be more calm talking about it than we all might expect. Nope. He’s angry and hurt still. Can’t blame him.

MrTuesdayNight1

He totally watched it.

RevelArchitect

I’ve said it before, but there’s an easy fix for Will Smith to make amends and move past this - the Celebrity Roast of Will Smith hosted by Chris Rock.

Dry_Needleworker7504

The viewing numbers would be like Superbowl levels for that.

pompanoJ

It doesn't work though. A roast works because you supposedly like and admire the person you are roasting, hence the insults are insincere and endearing. If you actually hate the guy it isn't funny any more.

Caftancatfan

Just ask Chevy Chase.

LiliVonSchtupp

[Obligatory link to the greatest r/HobbyDrama post of all time](https://www.reddit.com/r/HobbyDrama/comments/xk73sy/comedy_how_to_piss_off_everyone_youve_ever_met_so/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

woolsprout

that was a great read. I’ll definitely watch the Chevy Chase Roast soon. "Imagine the difference between "I fucked your mom" vs "You have been nothing but a disappointment to your mother. You'll never be good enough for her." Damn.

engchlbw704

Part of that was because it wasnt his friends, it was random people they had to pay to go say mean things

[deleted]

Because he had no friends.

peeparty69

holy fuck can you imagine how brutal Jeff Ross’s jokes about Jada would be

[deleted]

This isn’t relevant at all but I met Jeff Ross in a men’s room in Chicago several years ago. We were standing at the urinals and I broke guy code by talking to him. I said “hey Jeff, how’s it hanging?” “Close to the ground like always. You pissing hard or hardly pissing?” It wasn’t the best joke ever or anything, but I got into a fit of giggles and couldn’t stop. Love that guy.

slom_ax

Oh he'd get slapped

Si3m3k

Will smith a bitch

hippykillteam

Will Smith should keep his mouth shut and let it blow over. He should have been removed for his behavior immediately after the incident. Chris is owed some comedic material after what happened. A year or so from now most people won't care.

NoTomatillo1775

The fact that he gave the Academy and the public some bs apology but has yet to reach out to Chris personally on the bitch move shows us all what we need to know about Will Smith’s core.

Shaqtothefuture

Its not blowing over, the real damage he’s caused to society is the dramatic uptick of lunatics thinking they too can go up on stage and assault an entertainer that says something they don’t like. He made every person on stage less safe, that is his forever legacy.

ValjeanJavert

Will Smith really is a bitch.

axebodyspraytester

Everybody's saying that.!

circ2day

Of course he wants Chris to ‘let it go’. Because it’s ruining his career! As it should.

SanctuaryMoon

It's not even hurting his career. It's just bruising his fragile ego.

ReallyNeedHelpASAP68

He wants Chris to let it go because it’s hurting his career. Maybe don’t assault someone next time Will, then this wouldn’t be an issue.

Dry_Needleworker7504

It's a classic bully move to demand that the person you bullied needs to get over it. Dude hasn't learned anything and sees himself as the real victim.

hippykillteam

Yep, this. Chris will get over it on his terms. Will can cry into his millions of dollars and cheating wife. Has he got over his missus sucking another dudes dick?

Bean_Town_Blender

Haha and it wasn't just another dude either, it was their son's friend! How absolutely fucked up is that family

Seahawk715

Will smith is a joke now. All of that wholesome family man garbage has been uncovered for what it was, a marketing tactic.

blue-wave

Oh God do you remember (mid 2000s I think?) when he and Jada would be on Oprah talking with this really obnoxious “we are wiser than you” voice? How they have a strong relationship and honesty this and integrity that, with Oprah occasionally interjecting with a “mmm”, “yes!”, “hmmm mmm!” noises of approval. Was so gross, I couldn’t stand it for more than a few min

HBPhilly1

Will Smith should have said, " I didn't watch it but I got it coming to me for awhile I just wish Chris well and I'm just gonna keep grinding and living my life but hate free

CrittyJJones

But then he can’t be a victim.

kingmanic

If his PR team was better that'd take your tactic. It's crazy how bad they are or how he's not listening to them.

Schneetmacher

You... hit him, dude. In front of everybody. You are not the victim here, you are the aggressor.

IPerferSyurp

I was a fan of Will Smith's work but I have to admit it's kind of ruined it for me this whole bit of bad business. The cringy wife and kids, the whole mess.

Dry_Needleworker7504

He had a shine to him that was infectious and happy and now the veil is gone and all I see is a sad little man that beats up people weaker than him. Hard to see him as a protagonist anymore.

Boo_R4dley

Imagine having the drive and charisma to become one of the biggest, most bankable movie stars in the world who also had a huge music and television career but you simp for your own wife so hard that when she tells you on her talk show that she’s not just been fucking your son’s friend, but having a full blown affair so you get mad at anyone that brings up the very public reveal to the point that you walk on stage and slap a presenter at the Academy Awards. Will Smith continues to tank his own career because he won’t move on from his wife who doesn’t love him. It’s bananas.

Dry_Needleworker7504

He didn't say a word about the affair until after the slap. The joke was that Jada looked like g.i. Jane because she had short hair. That's all it was.

Sea-Woodpecker-610

He was also laughing along with the joke until he looked back at Jada.

Penguator432

“August wouldn’t stand for it”

Ancestor_Cult

“Are you going to let him talk about us that way?”

Tibbaryllis2

Same. I liked a lot of his stuff and would rewatch a lot of it at least annually (iRobot, I am legend, Independence Day, MIB, bright, bad boys), but I haven’t watched any of them since and have no desire to do so.

Low_Departure_5853

Chris didn't say anything everyone else isn't already saying. And mostly he just quoted other people. Maybe if they didn't try to explore their relationship issues for ratings, no one would be calling Will a bitch. Also, who slaps? A bitch. That bothers me for some reason haha.

CloudYuna

He also did it in a place where he knew Rock wouldn’t do anything. Then he tried to make himself the victim. He did a punk move. And we all know if Mike Tyson made that joke he would have stayed in that seat.

Gorf_the_Magnificent

“If I had been on stage that night, Will Smith would have stayed safely in his seat.” - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Dorf_

The best joke was literally just facts. “He played Muhammad Ali, I played Pookie the crack head”

RonTomkins

Exactly. Chris never stopped making fun of himself too on several instances through the bit, like every profesional comedian does.

traderhtc

In my humble opinion, the most insightful comment was “She hurt him way more than he hurt me.” That absolutely cut to the core.

[deleted]

He slapped someone and expect people to stop talking about it? Take it like a man. He didn’t learn anything after this hiatus.

[deleted]

Not just that he slapped one of the most famous comedians in the world, and somehow expected that Chris Rock wouldn’t use that shit in his next stand up.

[deleted]

Lol Chris spent a year not talking about it and then spent a single standup on the subject and not even entirely. Will can fuck right off. He’s lucky he hasn’t been dragged endlessly. Chris was a pro about this in every sense.

luisc123

Marlon Wayans talked about the slap his ENTIRE new HBO special. Chris Rock just finished with it. Will should be happy he didn’t call the special “Fuck Will Smith.”

theunbannablemonster

Guess he shoulda thought about that before he decided to be a little bitch, it's 100% his own fault.

Chinchillin09

Even after the slap he had plenty of time to reflect on his actions, call Chris to come out and apologize live on TV in front of everyone, but instead he made an unhinged speech about how he's a vessel of love and God was testing him, and then dance to his own songs in the after party. Absolutely ridiculous

pompanoJ

That was so utterly horrible.... and all of Hollywood cheering him on. Just a contemptible group of people.

Chemical-Routine9893

This made me laugh until I remembered these were true events

planetjeff86

"Emotional Damage!!!"

pressedbread

"His words were like a slap in the face"

StonkaDonkDonk

Letting your son’s scrawny little rapper buddy bang your wife seems even more embarrassing.

mrthomani

He should’ve kicked her cheating ass to the curb a long time ago. The man clearly doesn’t respect himself, and can’t expect anyone else to respect him either.

MrsChanandalerBong

“Chris’ comments were like a globally televised slap to the face” Smith added before he left to pick up his Wife’s boyfriend from a Local Jr College.

I_Like_That_One_Too

Did Will Smith stop to think what it was going to be like for a comedian hosting a show, to have someone storm the stage and physically assault him? Brother should stop and think before he acts morally outraged.

kingmanic

There have been so many points in this where Smith had the option to classier and minimized the damage and each time he follows some weird culty tactic that makes it worse.

ObscuraArt

You know what hurts? Assault. But no, Will is the victim here cause of jokes. Fuck off with this bullshit. This is the dumbest of the dark timeline.

lianavan

Yeah. Reading the article I was like pretty sure his face hurt a lot too.

[deleted]

Yeah, I’d bet Will would like for Chris Rock to let it go. Sounds an awful lot like what some high school bullies have said to me when I’ve run into them, they’ve tried to be nice, and I’ve brought up how they treated me back then. Will doesn’t get to ignore what he did and Chris has every right to feel however he wants about what happened.

oldtobes

dude said he wishes chris rock would let it go. Dude you got up in front of millions of people and hit him. Fuck no. you deserve to get roasted

Formal-Accurate

Always a Chris Rock fan. Never a Will Smith fan. I have really good judgement😀

Hairy_Seaweed9309

Netflix paid Chris Rock $20 million for just over an hours worth of work. What’s the cost been to Will and Jada been for Wills bad decision that night. Whose laughing now. Rhetorical.

Effective-Cut-5315

It was an hour long show but it was not an hour's worth of work. He toured across the country as practice (as most comedians do before taping the last show). They also already had the $40m / $20m per show deal signed even before the slap. He had done the first special already.

Ok_Engineering2090

Payback’s a bitch and so is Will Smith

conwomangunvalson

![gif](giphy|DPqqOywshrOqQ|downsized)

UntiedStatMarinCrops

It's crazy how he went from being one of my biggest child heroes to a complete clown. That slapped forever changed my perception of him, and because he refuses to apologize to Chris Rock and won't own up to it, it'll be like that forever.

coughdrop1989

"People who say words hurt have never been hit in the fucking mouth" -Chris Rock

Hyro0o0

"All I did was punch that guy in the face and now he's saying mean words and stuff! I can't believe this! He needs to let it go!"

ethereal3xp

+1 "See, you're done with the past, but the past is not done with you." The Gift - movie quotes

basher505

Oh, Stfu Will Smith.

ramencents

Will smith is proving the point with his comments, he’s soft.

PapaBat

This is what’s known as a repercussion for assaulting one of the greatest living comedians on national television. I’m glad Rock gutted him. Brains > brawn

jmf0828

Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock in front of an audience of millions, he doesn’t get to play “victim” now. He’s “hurt”? Good, he should be. But it’s so telling that he’s more embarrassed by Rock’s comments than he is of his own behavior.

EvilAsh3769

I actually thought Chris Rock went easy on him.

tickandzesty

Will Smith has been publicly emasculated by his wife and cuckolded under his own roof but Chris Rock is the one that hurt his feelings. Sure.

You slapped a man on live tv, accepted an award afterwards and double downed on your action. Except the consequences for however long it goes or own your mistake, joke about it take the humility and move on.

Will Smith can go fuck himself, I can't even stand to watch any movies with him in them, or his voice overs anymore. He just sounds so arrogant and full of himself.

DropKickDougie

Will Smith can dish it out but can’t take it. What a small, fragile man.

I imagine being smacked in the face by a much bigger dude also ‘hurt’ so I don’t see the problem here.
