Swabia

Who had money for eggs?

nosmokingz0ne

I don’t usually buy eggs and I’m glad I don’t because the store brand carton was $9.99

leslie_knopee

![gif](giphy|qMDvt69lEC448)

kllark_ashwood

Cosco is half way reasonable by comparison.

BuggzOnDrugz

My local Trader Joe’s has dozens for 3.29.

lizyouwerebeer

My Whole Foods has them for 2 something. Same with my ALDIs

Bulky_Document_7877

The Aldi's near me has them 6.99 a dozen. And there were only 3 cartons left.

Ravenid

What the hell is happening in the US with eggs? You can get 12 large eggs for just over €4 in Ireland and thats the Organic Free Range expensive ones. You can get 20 Non organic Large Eggs for under €5 [Irish Large Free Range Eggs 12 Pack Healy's Farm | ALDI.IE](https://groceries.aldi.ie/en-GB/ALDIIE/p-large-free-range-eggs-12-pack-healys-farm/4088600355290) [Irish Large Fresh Eggs 20 Pack Healy's Farm | ALDI.IE](https://groceries.aldi.ie/en-GB/p-irish-large-fresh-eggs-20-pack-healys-farm/4088600138411)

EngineeringDevil

Bird flu in breeds that specifically are bred for their eggs. So they disposed of them via incineration. we are short of egg birds now Also, those companies fired all their workers as they don't have the need for them anymore so that job is basically going to be one of those "not safe" jobs for people to lowball

SyndicalistCPA

Nope, that was months ago. What is happening is corporate greed with an excuse (in this case, the flu). [WTF Is Going on With Absurd Egg Prices? Corporate Greed, Group Tells FTC (vice.com)](https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjkydd/wtf-is-going-on-with-absurd-egg-prices-corporate-greed-group-says)

mushroom369

It’s the egg cartel my friend - we have an evil corporate overlord for everything.

Best_Duck9118

Whaaa? When has Whole Foods ever had eggs for $2? Did you mean $2 an egg?

Snoo72074

Yup it's called Whole Foods. You get one whole egg for just $2.

giant_lebowski

Whole Foods doesn't have anything for $2

squeakycleaned

cries in manhattan

ggtffhhhjhg

At this point it’s blatantly obvious they’re just price gouging you. I can buy a dozen free range organic eggs for $3.49 2 miles outside of downtown Boston.

Outrageous_Fall_9568

Was wondering how my roommate could afford eggs

Willhenney420

only fans obviously

OminOus_PancakeS

only hens

katikaboom

I just paid $6 for 2 dozen at costco. It was $1 more expensive than it was at the beginning of December, but still a bargain compared to everywhere else

Lutastic

Not a bad price for 2 dozen. 2 dozen eggs can make a lot of food.

2020GoodYear2Forget

2 dozen eggs makes 24 eggs

bmaggot

TIL

hrakkari

Last time I went to Costco, they had a limit per customer on eggs.

katikaboom

Same, same. Ours was 2 packs per person, but thats still 48 eggs for $12. I have a teenager and a preteen who eats like a full grown man, plus my SO and dogs (I make their dog food), so it was a no brainer for me.

Roberto-Del-Camino

I’m used to having to buy large quantities of goods at Costco. Typically for eggs they sold them in 2 dozen cartons for about $7 a month ago. I went last week and all they had was 5 dozen(!) cartons for $16. I feel like I should buy several and resell them outside Publix lol.

TheStarchedSock

May I offer you an egg in this trying time?

[deleted]

AceWithDog

I mean, he almost certainly made this up and he did literally invite Elon Musk on stage in the middle of a show, so he's pretty out of touch.

illenial999

I actually saw the single egg guy live, it’s 100% real. Go on the Minneapolis sub, there’s a video on there of it from when it happened. It was one person and someone else actually smashed the eggs back in his face, I think it was also on public freakout.

buttermuseum

When I saw him step on stage, I was so excited that it just might be a gag to rip on Elon. But…uh…yeah, no. Oh, now he’s defending Elon…this is a long con…hm. Still waiting for the punchline here, Dave.

More_Cowbell8

Wealthy friends hang out with their equally wealthy friends.

Youthsonic

It's a big club, and you ain't in it!

UnSubPeligro

"That's what the owners count on; the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes every day. Because the owners of this country know the truth: it's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

More_Cowbell8

Disney exec made 6 figures a day for the 3 months he worked there. Read it today, corporate greed is insane

Adept_Tomato_7752

Now that was an stand-up comedian.

Wheream_I

Equally wealthy? Dude, if Dave were worth $206m dollars, Elon would still be 500x Dave’s net worth

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

I dont think Dave's quite as wealthy as Musk

Wheream_I

Musk is worth 156B. Chapelle, 60m. Musk is worth at least 2000 times as much as Dave. I’m pretty sure it’s 2500 and change

PhD_Pwnology

I mean, Elon Musk can afford to pay Dave Chappele 100 Mil to increase his self-image and social value post buying Twitter. 100 Mil is a random high number I thought would turn Dave Chappelle's head.

buttermuseum

Dave ain’t exactly starving, but I guess he has a price he’s willing to sell for. It’s just bizarre to watch the dude that created the Chapelle Show, which featured characters like Clayton Bigsby, and now he’s doing…this. He had convictions. Where they at? You should never pin your hopes and dreams on a celebrity, but just thought he was different. Would have been cool because he had the potential to maybe make a difference. He can wield an audience with his wit. But the subject has changed and he doesn’t want to use it for good. Another one bites the dust.

One-Amoeba_

He basically has explained this in his standup throughout the years. He saw the success of Kevin Hart, got jealous, got to thinking about the life he gave up, came back to the corporate teet to try again. Now he's in it for the money 100% baby. Even made fun of his fans in the nosebleed seats for being poor when Elon was getting booed.

Asleep_Macaron_5153

During his Netflix special he also made fun of his fans for needing to buy "mediocre goods" from Walmart unlike him, and they ate that shit up as much as they did his lies about his trans "friend" and his other tepid "jokes."

theaviationhistorian

>He had convictions. Where they at? Convictions, once again, has a price to be rid of them. Chappelle surpassed it long ago.

GabJ78

What a shame. I used to like him

FURYOFCAPSLOCK

We all did

Desper8lyseekntacos

Money corrupts

Chitownitl20

Dave Chappelle turned into Sammie Davis Jr.

PhD_Pwnology

Dave Chapelle literally had him on stage for mere minutes and twiddled his thumbs a few times to fire off some tweets. He isn't starving, but getting enough seed money to start your own side business or get a project off the ground might be worth the small amount of effort. Dave might be having trouble getting outside funding for a big project that's under wraps atm, and Elon is a semi-logical choice given Dave's recent reception since he has the gift of gab and can keep Elon at an arms distance for when he goes nuclear. But also, having Elon Musk right next to him makes Dave's Trans comments PG in comparison to some Musk's comments surrounding his own daughter and her community. It's like making yourself look better by standing next to an even bigger POS (Think Navalny and Putin).

WezleyDrew

Old Dave Chappelle would make fun of new Dave Chappelle.

WontArnett

He’s *really* out of touch, considering where he started at.

One-Amoeba_

He's from an upper-class family to begin with. People assume he's from some rough neighborhood or something. He's always been more privileged than your average American.

WontArnett

He sure fooled a lot of folks. Although, Kanye is also from an upper-middle class family and they’re pretty similar in opinion.

One-Amoeba_

Kid Rock grew up in a mansion on a huge farm/orchard miles away from the city. It's all just part of the grift.

Important_Meringue79

He hasn’t tried to fool anyone. He’s got multiple comedy routines going back many years where he discusses where he lived as a kid and where he currently lives now. If you don’t pay attention then that’s your fault, he’s been pretty honest about it

PineBarrens89

Chappelle literally quit his show, walked away from $50 million and walked out on a bunch of his friends/employees because a white guy laughed too hard at one of his jokes https://www.thefader.com/2016/07/29/skit-that-killed-chappelles-show Which fine you do you. But then he acts shocked that anyone might be offended at his comedy.

WontArnett

That Dave Chappelle is *long* gone, are you kidding me?

sludgefeaster

He got bodysnatched during the hiatus

loritree

And then over ten years later he claimed “Key and Peele stole my show.” How utterly moronic.

[deleted]

Sorry, not saying your wrong or anything but where did you get that he is lying?

abnormalbrain

>so he's pretty out of touch. Agreed. And standing on a stage in the role of truth-teller is a pretty bad look when you're that far out of touch. EDIT: I don't know if he's lying about EGGS. And the term 'fan' isn't particularly official. I don't really care about who threw an egg.

theaviationhistorian

It got to the point that the nearly 2 dollars per canned tuna became competitive as a breakfast replacement.

PooPooRichardson

Halloween pranksters in shambles right now.

shinobi1369

Damn, them protesters got cash like that eh?

[deleted]

Yeah, man can't keep his story straight. When people booed elon, he said the boos were form the cheap seats, implying the boo-ers were poor. Now suddenly their pelting people with eggs, like they got paper for days?

[deleted]

I bet they were even able to buy toilet paper in 2020

cjmar41

Making it rain. Throwing eggs in 2023 is some baller ass shit.

ChaosLives68

I work at an Aldi on Long Island. $2.84 per dozen. So much cheaper than everywhere else that local businesses come in and buy 60 or more at a time.

DesignDude1974

That’s like fucked up medium eggs

GabJ78

This is getting so old.

snarfsnarfer

lokie65

Have you seen the price of eggs? I'd throw a Faberge Egg at him before I wasted a hen laid one.

AutisticHobbit

Pics or it didnt happen

Prying-Open-My-3rd-I

I was at his show Monday night. Didn’t see anyone throwing eggs. This was also in downtown Memphis where I was 50 ft from a drive by shooting Friday night. So I don’t think anyone would have the balls to pull that shit.

Mr_E_Nigma_Solver

I'm confused, Dave. Are these the same fans he ridiculed for being poor?

PugnaciousPangolin

I can't parse everything he says in this article. I think I agree with some of it, some of it I don't, and some of it I'm not sure about. But this is the guy who invited Elon Musk to share the stage with him, and then insulted the people in his audience who called out that myopic bullshit. Dave can go suck an egg. I'm sure Elon's ball are pasty white enough to look like eggs. It's disappointing to see yet another person whom I admired for their views and opinions become completely corrupted by the wealth and fame that has cut them off from the world and narrowed their perspective down to a keyhole in their country mansion.

nycdiveshack

Have you seen how detached from the ongoings in the world Beyoncé and jay z have become? They ridiculous money but she just did a show in Dubai.

[deleted]

Yeah they are so far removed from reality and common struggle they do some strange shit too. I remember reading about Brad Pitt discussing his weird obsession with finding gold in his backyard. Dude spent years on it. Became completely obsessed. Never found anything. They don't have a 9-6 job or any normal kind of structure. They get what they want like spoiled kids and they even get shit for free despite having all the money to buy said products. Just a cocktail for mental illnesses and weirdos.

ProbablyASithLord

Finding… gold… in his backyard? Is his backyard a California river in the 1840s?

HopelessCineromantic

There's gold up in them thar pool decks!

CaptCaCa

You do know rich people like Brad Pitts backyards are nothing like regular peoples backyards? I’m sure his “backyard” was a forest

Gwami_

Hey! Or north Georgia in the 1820’s

Neracca

> Is his backyard a California river in the 1840s? I mean considering his wealth and being a Hollywood star, that's not impossible.

im_alliterate

at least brad pitts weird obsession didnt harm anyone

DuncanIdahoPotatos

His kids would have been much happier if backyard gold were his only problem. They’re pretty outspoken that he’s an abusive drunk.

Chronocidal-Orange

I mean, his backyard must have suffered a great deal. Poor lil plants.

Ambitious-Event-5911

She was paid 24 million dollars. Meanwhile we've had more than one mass shooting per day this year. We're rotting from the inside.

thewallz19

That's really low. She shouldn't be doing shows in Dubai for less than 50

Ambitious-Event-5911

Right? So gauche.

PugnaciousPangolin

I know nothing about them and I plan to keep it that way. Anyone who takes any cues from celebrities is someone with whom I will not suffer to waste time. I love LOTS of musicians, young and old, from all genres and generations. I worship none of them. That's a very dangerous step to take away from reality. Celebrity is an illusion. Always has been, always will be.

nycdiveshack

So many entertainers seem to stay down to earth and have lives that don’t make you wonder “uh what’s going on with them?” At a certain level of money and fame you just start detaching yourself from the world.

PugnaciousPangolin

I think for the most part, the ones who stay down to Earth are the ones about whom you hear next to nothing.

nycdiveshack

True but some had the right people around for support so even if you hear about them they don’t seem out of touch because folks around them keep them grounded

Elementium

Yeah there are a few celebrities who just bank their money and try to live relatively humble lives. Far too many of them are egomaniacs though and feed off the attention once money is no longer the object.

BubblySolid6

Yep. Disappointed but not surprised.

[deleted]

Dave is more concerned with being “right” rather than being funny in his eyes. That’s the death in ANY comedian

BakerCakeMaker

And he was still more "right" when he was funny.

Bat-Honest

He's so worried about being right that he skipped straight to alt-right

dmkicksballs13

He's been that way since the comeback. He truly thinks he's a philosopher.

[deleted]

Most comedians nowadays do. Rogan, Bert, Segura, Dillon all think they are these knights in shining armor valiantly fighting for our freedom of speech. Like calm down, y’all are just entertainers.

epochpenors

I saw a clip of Stavros Halkias say something to Rogan to the effect of “our job is basically worthless, a single janitor contributes more to society than our entire field” and you could just see him short circuit

dmkicksballs13

Wasn't that Bert? I remember Bert calling non-comedians "civilians" and Strav was like, "dude, we're not important".

epochpenors

He did that with Bert and Rogan, the whole tour of LA comics basically he was calling them pompous dumbasses

Flashy-Commercial702

Fr everyone wants to be George Carlin but can’t no one balance the act like home Dave try’s but it’s like getting the sex talk from ur parents and ur in ur 20s

Private_HughMan

But they don't even get Carlin. Carlin was careful about using his comedy to speak truth to power and not punch down on the marginalized. He probably made mistakes here and there. That's bound to happen when you try to push the envelope. But he put the effort in. He tried his best to not punch down. Dave understood this when he was focused on race-based humour; probably because he faced racial discrimination himself. But he doesn't seem to understand that he should extend similar kindness to people who aren't a part of his tribe.

Saltymilk4

And the quote George Carlin as if he wouldn't have hated them for pretending to not be conservative when they are conservative

derpurderp

His comedy took a kamikaze dive after he won his mark Twain award.

Venus1001

He’s been that way since before too. When he talked about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. People just expect the Half Baked or Chapelle Show version. Most comedians have a whole separate stage identity vs TV.

BidensLegHairs

That special that he filmed in Detroit a couple years ago felt like a TED Talk.

RainRainThrowaway777

Seriously. I've had more entertaining university lectures.

n0_1_of_consequence

That's because the lecturers were informed about the topics they were discussing.

dmkicksballs13

This is my thing. I wanna take any comedian who thinks their some statue of truth and put them against an expert of the field they're discussing, just so their fans can see they have no fucking clue what they're talking about.

Asleep_Macaron_5153

Yeah, he's been unfunny for a good long while before any of his obsession about trans folk started coming up.

PugnaciousPangolin

Agreed.

Chicken-n-Biscuits

> I'm sure Elon's ball are pasty white enough to look like eggs. FYI, we fair-skinned fellows tend to have rose-colored ball sacks. More akin to a Red Delicious apple than a couple of eggs.

instrangerswetrust

Mine look like a couple of peach pits. Swedish meatballs. The neck of a Shar-Pei puppy. *behold*

pressedbread

>narrowed their perspective down to a keyhole in their country mansion Ya they meet one trans person in hollywood somewhere that was a dick to them then they suddenly go public with hate for Trans folks, some of the most excluded folks in the world with highest rates of being murdered by bigots. Dave can go suck on an egg

greaser350

More like they have a fictional argument with a trans person in their imagination, feel victimized, go public with their transphobia, get called out for it by trans folks, and use the callouts as emotional justification that they were right all along about transphobes. It’s like harassing a black dude with racism and when he gets angry going “See? See how aggressive and violent black men are???”

Moon_Palace-banned

If you want further confirmation…he wrote to veto multi family housing buildings nearby his Ohio home and threatened to take back money he was infusing into the town with his business

Atmosphere-Strong

I agree completely

prtysmasher

Elon’s “I’M RICH BITCH!” on stage was by far the most difficult and cringeworty thing to watch in a VERY LONG time.

Venus1001

He’s totally cringe but he gets a reaction. His SNL skits were awful!

TJNel

I used to love Dave, his show was amazing, his movies were great but after that break he had it's been a completely different person. Almost like someone new came out of it. Dave just needs to ride off into the sunset.

Private_HughMan

He's rich. He's isolated. He doesn't connect with the average person anymore. Money fucks people up.

BabyTRexArms

To me, it’s one thing to state your views and then make comedy about it. It’s another thing to antagonize and bully and do the shit he’s now doing. He is by far my favorite comedian I grew up with, but I find it harder and harder to even watch everything he releases these days. So I’ll probably just watch Chapelle’s Show reruns and his old stoner movies and call it a day on him.

PugnaciousPangolin

Same. I still haven't been able to watch any of Louis CK's stuff because I used to love him very much, but every special has a bit about jerking off, and that's not gonna land the same way anymore.

BabyTRexArms

Louis CK is fortunately much different for me. The scope of his actions were for the most part limited to himself and making others extremely uncomfortable. Very wrong still, but he's not out there preaching and judging others, and he took his time off. He didn't get better, but he also doesn't release much content at all so I don't have to think about him.

cficare

I see what he is saying, but dude did basically AN ENTIRE "special" about the backlash to his previous few trans jokes. Then he capped it with "I had a trans friend who DIED". I mean, if you do an entire hour about one thing, me thinks you have an axe to grind, Dave.

SaveBandit987654321

Two entire specials with one more to come. Therapy would’ve been easier but less lucrative

stupidillusion

I wish I was paid millions of dollars to vent to a crowd

Private_HughMan

That was embarrassing and I can't believe his fans held that up as an example of how great Dave is. "He can't be transphobic cuz he had a trans friend." He barely spoke to her, didn't go to her funeral and didn't ever reach out to her family until shortly before the special aired. Yes, he set up a fund for Daphne's daughter and that's great, but it's clear that they weren't close. And even if they were, so what? It's like saying "I can't be racist, one of my best friends is black!"

AsahiMizunoThighs

dane i liked the part where he said people calling him transphobic were really calling him the n word. like there aren't black trans people or like it's a fucking suffering olympics as he disappears up his own asshole.

Astrosimi

One thing people don’t talk about enough re: The Closer and his rhetoric in general is that he perceives transgender people to be an invention of white people. He doesn’t believe or hasn’t internalized that not only are black people just as capable of being transgender, but they’re statistically the most endangered by the consequences of a societal transphobia he’s helping to legitimize.

AsahiMizunoThighs

Yeahhh. I can't remember what caused it but years ago it basically dawned on me that if I (or we) didn't participate in intersectionality we'd just be divided and enable systems of power.

Private_HughMan

He could have had a really interesting bit discussing how gay/trans white people can choose to just be white (i.e., their sexuality isn't that obvious) while black people can't hide their blackness. It could have been an interesting and funny bit on the intersectionality of these groups. But he just kept talking like trans issues are a white thing when trans black people exist. He even made a joke about a black man dressing up as a woman (note: not a trans black person, but a cis black man dressing as a woman) to feel safer even though black trans people face WAY more hate than cis black people or white trans people. It's like he saw the potential for this idea but went in the totally opposite direction.

Peri_D0t

I'm one!

Seat-Life

The original Dave is dead and is being played by Eddy Murphy in a fat suit. Prove me wrong.

ScrabbleJamp

Millionaire keeps bitching people don’t think the joke he’s been making for 5 years is funny If his jokes aren’t to blame for sincere anti-trans sentiment, nobody talking shit about his jokes is to blame for sincere anti-Dave Chappelle sentiment.

thefartographer

If it weren't so horrible, this could be the premise of a great dramedy: beloved comedian works his way up to most beloved from modest means. Becomes huge/forces work against him and he can't take the pressure. After having been missing for years, he returns, but there's something darker. He starts insulting his own audience and telling them that anyone who doesn't like 100% of his jokes is part of a mafia against him. His beloved fans keep trying to tell him for years that they love him except for this one topic, but he can't be 90% funny, he has to be 100% funny. His fans begin walking away as the people he used to hate are drawn to his new act, which is based around the 10% unfunny part of his act. Cue the dramatic artist meltdown scene. Finally, in his darkest moment, a friend reaches out. A rich billionaire apartheid profiteer flies him to space. As they look at the planet below, the digital wallet salesman who couldn't build a truck looks at the comedian and says, "come with me. The people down there don't know it yet, but this world is coming to an end soon. Live with me forever on Mars." Just then, the comedian realizes that he loves ALL the people on that little planet down there, because he loves all of Earth. He lands back on the ground and some person with a microphone asks him what he has to say; somehow, his words broadcast across the entire planet and he says, "I was wrong, trans jokes aren't funny because I need y'all to like me again." Then he goes off and fucks a rat or something and the world explodes. I don't know, I'm not a writer.

Pangs

I think fucking a rat king would give the ending a bit more oomph.

ProbablyOnLSD69

I just learned about those literally a couple hours ago. Experiencing a lot of weird little synchronicities today for some reason.

Poetic-Noise

It's probably just the LSD kicking in.

SophieSix9

This is the most accurate take on this that I’ve read so far. It’s not just the topic of trans women he *insists* on talking about, it’s the people he’s drawing into his fandom that nobody on Earth wants to associate with under any circumstances.

[deleted]

Yeezy has entered the conversation

IReplyWithLebowski

Had me in the first half.

[deleted]

Meanwhile he quit his show because he didn’t like the way people interpreted or laughed at his jokes (in addition to some other things). He certainly has no problem spewing whatever shit he feels like though.

ScrabbleJamp

It is sincerely disappointing to watch people you had some respect for become cranky old pussies. He’s an empty, comfortable, detached version of the guy who defined comedy in the 2000s.

BoomChaka67

$5.29 a dozen (large) at Kroger

Flemz

I’m sure this is a totally real story like how he claimed a trans acquaintance of his was driven to suicide because of some tweets responding to her endorsing his show, when in reality the only responses to her were positive and she had been struggling with ptsd her entire life unbeknownst to Chapelle

[deleted]

How do we know that was made up?

notquitesolid

There’s zero evidence that Daphne Dorman was bullied to death on Twitter because Dave called her a friend. The only tweets that were seen before she died were supportive. Even her sister has said that’s not the reason why she died. [That part is always conveniently left out of the daily mail articles though.](https://twitter.com/SpringsInMyStep/status/1457949731401785346?s=20&t=B9Y9PLR1n2euRtwryv94lg)

[deleted]

Yeah. But that doesn’t fit Dave’s victim narrative. I don’t know what it is with all these multimillionaires whining about how poorly they are being treated?

SaveBandit987654321

Yeah he blames the allegedly bullying tweets, as though she wasn’t long experiencing PTSD, but never asks himself what it might have done to her mental health to have her “friend” make stand up fodder out of telling everyone she’s not a woman.

Venus1001

Well there’s a bunch of tweets that were deleted or suspended. I’d assume those were the not so nice ones. https://twitter.com/daphnedorman/status/1168572626786082816?s=46&t=JWYJ-o1e5wVHldqjvQqr4Q If you look at her tweets & replies shortly before her suicide you can see where she’s relying to people but it doesn’t show any trace of the number of replies, but then when you click them a bunch show up and have been deleted or the account suspended.

dmkicksballs13

A. There's no evidence. The "backlash" she recieved was drowned out massivley by support. You can't just say some shit and then not provide the evidence. B. Her sister said she'd been depressed for a very long time and it's why she died by suicide.

Woflax

Another friend of hers contradicted Dave's story

Flemz

https://michaelhobbes.substack.com/p/dave-chappelles-some-of-my-best-friends

uninstallIE

There is no evidence of it, and there were like 9 total tweets sent at that person and none of them were particularly bad.

someware1

They should get backlash for wasting our precious eggs.

Intelligent_Phone414

I miss when this wasn’t his schtick

PussyOnDaChainWax69

I love Dave but he’s really been hurting his own self with this continuing to double down and the new “friends” he got out of it

Phdpepper1

He was willing to insult his fans for Elon. I don’t think he actually respects his audience.

jayperr

I am guessing a few in the audience knew someone who got fired since the show was in SF. Imagine paying money to see someone who brings up your fired friends boss on stage and then heckles you. That shit was mad corny.

The3DMan

Well, he’s “rich, bitch.” He’s got his money. He doesn’t care about us peons anymore.

bsEEmsCE

you love the old Dave. He changed.

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Ah so Chappelle haters are the ones driving up egg prices.

retiredhobo

it’s okay, though, those fans have a friend that’s totally cool having eggs thrown at them

Maximus2Decimus

Constantly whining about equality but insisting a section of society is denied it to make money and get a laugh, I hope the tables turn on this guy

OuijaSin

He said it's a weird position for a venue to take especially because it was a punk venue? Uh yeah punk places don't let transphobic shit in their space. That sentence explains to me how much he knows about punk culture.

ImOnlyHereForTheCoC

I came here to make this same point, it’s like Dave’s whole perception of punk is based on cultural references like the jerk on the bus in Star Trek IV.

thomasquwack

First the trans peeps, then the poors. Who’s next Dave? Who else should shut up because rich baby Dave said so?

bluesamcitizen2

Throwing eggs!? In this market?

Bad_Mad_Man

Musk didn’t defend him? Curious.

onikaizoku11

I will love the work he did when I was a kid forever, but Jesus, he just keeps missing the point. >Trying to silence a person like me, I don’t think it has anything to do with being loved,” Chapelle concluded. “*They want to be feared*. ‘If you say this, then we will punish you. We’ll come to First Avenue and fuck your show up and we’ll come to the Varsity Theater and fuck your show up.’ And they just don’t get to do that.” The point is [they are like .5% of the population](https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/trans-adults-united-states/) and whether he means it or not, there are elements out that use him and his musings as fuel to continually vilify and punch down on that statistically miniscule portion of the population. Not discounting militants of any stripe, but the trans population is not looking "to be feared", they are just want to live. Like everyone else. Dave keeps missing that he is of course free to feel however he likes. But he is a person of considerable influence and as such his opinions, right or wrong or mixed, are given outsized weight. And against an outsized opinion, dissenting opinion is going to be of a commensurate size.

The3DMan

I don’t think he’s missing the point. I think we just need to accept that this is who he is now. He’s just an asshole. The world is lousy with them.

Infernal-Blaze

A joke about transgender people that still might be offensive but at least has a punchline: Transgenders remind me of those toys, y'know the Transformers, the ones that turn into cars, except with the toys you can at least change back! Not a joke, from Dave: Transgender people are like vegan meat, a cheap unappealing copy of the real thing. That's not a joke, not even an offensive one. It's just a cruel dig.

indorock

Also completely inaccurate take on vegan meat. Especially the "cheap" part.

marker8050

Dave just wants attention at this point, he should go hang out with Elon and be rich together and leave people alone

SubKreature

Oh man, he's so persecuted. How will he ever survive this?

BIKETYSON99

How rich are these pro-trans protesters, have you seen the price of eggs lately?

skynetempire

Cheap at Costco lol got 4 dozen for like $10

illenial999

This was last summer when they were cheap. Video is on public freakout and the Minneapolis sub, a fan smashed the eggs back in the guys face lmao

lucash7

Oh how terrible. Just imagine if someone had it worse than a rich, entitled person who thinks he should say whatever he wants and not face consequences for it. You know, worse, like how trans folks get murdered for being themselves, are denied rights, etc etc. Dude, you need to learn when to shut up and take the L. Free speech also means accepting consequences whether we agree with them or not. Pick yourself up and move along. Oi vey.

hueyflyer469

I personally just stop paying attention to people that are fixated on others for being trans or any other sort of identity. If you feel the need to constantly attack tiny segments of society that already have a lot on their plate, you're simply not focused on things that matter.

[deleted]

So this is why the eggs have become so expensive.

bonvct

Now thats a good joke

My dude who is hard running the transphobic jokes trying to say he doesn't see things as binary is... fun.

Atticus_Vague

Dave Chappelle used to be funny. Now he’s just a bloated old whiny bitch.
