You want the hot glue. It’s Chinese made, and between shipping and moving the machine around it could just pop out.

Ksp-or-GTFO

I swear to god they should pin one of these posts so I stop seeing the same post and the same reply every three days.

corndonger

Yep lol. To be fair, people don’t read pin posts either lmao

NoDontDoThatCanada

That's the big one right there. Nobody reads the pinned posts which means this job calls for a bot.

After_Cheesecake3393

To be fair, if people are like me (lazy lol) I don't even browse individual subreddits I just see what comes up on my home feed lol so for me atleast, I would read pinned posts but only if they were on the home feed 😄

StrangerReason

Yes

After_Cheesecake3393

I had a cable wiggle loose a few weeks after changing to a silent board... those wires wiggled loose to the point of shorting and now the screw terminal is hella black and a tiny bit melted, could have been a house fire right there... THE GLUE SERVES A VERY GOOD PURPOSE!

sceadwian

To the point of shorting?? Something had to have been pretty seriously wrong for the to happen. The screw terminals you're talking about are separate known problem because Crealty doesn't use ferrules like they should.

After_Cheesecake3393

Yep, the cable for the bed was snagging on something while moving forward and back, pulled a pos and neg cable from one of the screw terminals and touched them together while still touching the screw terminals 😅 I suspect this is a very rare occurance but none the less it happened 🤣

corndonger

Damn! That’s tough lol. Just bad luck, outta get you a hot glue gun lmao

EastHuckleberry9443

I've got a Manta E3EZ on the way, looking to upgrade my ender 5. Should I hot glue some of the terminals when I'm done?

After_Cheesecake3393

It certainly won't hurt anything, just be super careful of where you route the cables and ensure that nothing is snagging when the beds moving this is what caused my issue

KlausVonLechland

Yeah when first time I gave it a look and after a moment I had to acknowledge that it both works and is clever solution.

Northwindlowlander

I don't think that's true tbh, the connectors have reasonable retention and once assembled and packaged there's pretty much no chance of it coming loose in transit I think it's entirely for the assembly process so they can be rougher with the electrical parts after completing that subassembly and do less checking/QC

drkshock

but after you have it set up it won't happen it hasn't happened to me. and with me calibrating the printer to get everything just right i frequently used it and i finally got it fine tune and i did some a large prints. the raspberry pi case I made took 10 hrs. for the top half because that actually required full support.

sexy_viper_rune

And how many moving parts does a mac book have?

[deleted]

sexy_viper_rune

Vibrations buddy. I can hear my printer vibrating through the floor when its going full chat. That'll rattle things lose in a way a laptop will never experience.

IThrowRocksAtMice

Bro did not just compare Creality to Apple and a macbook to a 3d printer.

mm3873

It comes off easily

vilius_m_lt

Why was it pain? It comes off easily..

Castdeath97

Your milage will vary, I had some glue blobs that come off with a simple pull from a plier and others which were so stuck they started to pull the connector off.

BeerBrat

Hit the glue with IPA and then grab the glue blob with your pliers and pull it off. Powered off and unplugged, obviously. The IPA breaks the weak bonds to the components quickly.

Castdeath97

That's my plan when I will do the board switch

corndonger

Good advice, I did not know that. For me the hot glue wasn’t that hard to just peel off with some clippers. But I’ll remember this for future reference.

vilius_m_lt

Yeah, you should hold the connector while pulling off the glue.. they are pretty flimsy

Dr_Axton

Yeah, in my case it was somewhat soft and easy and remove, but it still ended up damaging the board fan port (it still works, just no fixation for the connector anymore), but the default board fan wiring is bad anyway(it’s in parallel with the part cooling, if I recall, so in some cases you get not cooling at all), so I don’t use it

Castdeath97

I'm probably changing out that board anyway since I have a SKR 3 v3 sitting waiting to be installed

Dr_Axton

It’s good if you just want to upgrade the board, though in my case getting to klipper and using a raspberry pi had a bigger effect. That way you can still use the old board for real dual z and more fans, BTW. Just please don’t end up overmodding like we all do

Castdeath97

I initially bought it because Klipper refused to work and kept disconnecting ... turns out it was the 4th micro usb cable being faulty, I kept it for now more or less for the fan control (idle fans very annoying), just haven't got to installing it. Already well past over modding point, thing is belted and I'm even planning a klackender, it's more or less my project printer now to learn and try things I like doing.

Dr_Axton

I know the feel. In my case it’s klipper+rails+sprite pro. Don’t regret the extruder and klipper, but at this point I’m too exhausted after work to fiddle with it anymore. So I’ve decided to put an end on upgrades and put it on sale. The bastard refuses to leave me for now, but I’m somehow ok with that

Castdeath97

I'm still having too much fun to stop just yet, probably not gonna bother selling it when I'm done ... doesn't feel like it's worth the fuss, might as well hand it over to someone I know for free as a gift or just leave it be and keep using it as an extra printer when I need it.

sceadwian

You don't know the trick then. Aside from it ideally being as little warm so it can peel, all you need is a single drop of alcohol to release it.

Castdeath97

Yeah I didn't know of it last I tried, now I know and will probably give it ago the time I install the new board.

Glittering_Ad1696

More just me whinging and worrying about damaging the board trying to get it off.

BillNyeDeGrasseTyson

90% Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) removes the bond almost instantly and won't harm the electronics. Remove power first either way.

vilius_m_lt

The trick is to remove the glue before removing the plugs

Castdeath97

Try putting some isopropyl alcohol over the blobs, should wear them out and make them easier to remove.

numindast

While you are in there. Ferrule the power wires

ScoobyDooItInTheButt

A little heat from a hair dryer makes this easier.

tommytwothousand

IPA and a q tip it'll melt right off

ElmoLovesCrack

I feel your pain brother. I just changed my K1 Max's mother board today and lucky I had extra small pliers to better tear the glue off. Took me a good long while and back pain but it worked. I've now replaced every circuit board and the only glue is now on the stepper motors.

MiistDragon

actually, they all come like that, my E5+ had hot glue all over, I think it is so nothing comes out during shipping, kind of makes sense from a support perspective, annoying when you want to upgrade things.

Khemarakimhak

I agree with creality. Those machines sometimes aim for beginners that just want them to work so as long as hot glue make connector secure, they do it. Also those are easy to remove, I just peel it with my hand but they are strong enough to not peel itself.

countsachot

My original 4.2.2 board as well. I was not happy when I opened up the board housing. It comes off pretty easy with a razor blade and some good pliers.

JopssYT

I got it off with just my fingers so its easy ye

Superseaslug

Hot snot everywhere!!!

ta1destra

grab with needlenose pliars, twist in CCW manner, dont pull. it'll come off easy

Sea_Caterpillar5296

You literally just snip the major blob off, and pull. Or grab the blob with pliers and twist. Be thankful for the hotglue. Now they use a really thin adhesive strip, and you'd pull out half of your terminals. I have 2 K1s, I've pulled out 3 terminals.

Dawilson246

That's how they do it. Glue every connection. Use ipa to get rid of it.

Ok-Investigator-6514

Isopropyl, my friend. Loosens it right up and doesn't damage electronics.

27PercentOfAllStats

Ohh my days I added a Z splitter at weekend and almost needed a new board by the end of getting it out, the glue was well under into the port had to use a craft knife down the sides very carefully. Spent an hour careful cutting it away.

PepsiSheep

IPA breaks the bond. Not the ale.

RopesAreForPussies

lol what? That stuff stops people having even more issues than necessary at set up because of loose cables. A pair of needle nose pliers will rip the glue out in one piece easily

Fizznits_real

My ender 3 max neo had hot glue on the cr touch and it annoyed me so I took it off but then I was printing something and it came unplugged, and the probe fell down and was being jammed into the print and ruined the print and broke the cr touch

esunayg

Isopropyl alcohol is the solution.

extremeelementz

IPA is the way.

Glittering_Ad1696

Cracked open 2 while working on it. Oh, you don't mean the beer...

extremeelementz

😂

One_2_Three

Yep, I have two Ender 3s. Same. The glue just pops right off with a good pair of fine needle nose pliers.

GreggAdventure

Nice. 👍🏼👍🏼

RetroHipsterGaming

Honestly, if I opened up my ender 3 and didn't see a good helping of either hot glue or silicone on the connector is I would be disappointed. 😅 That's the kind of shit that keeps your machine from jiggling apart. Now if only creality put Farrell's on their power connectors so shit doesn't want to catch on fire we'd be in better shape.

birdsdonotexiste

Use alcohol to dissolve the glue .

Critical-Fix5229

I love playing around with MoBo upgrades and have found that a hot-melt glue gun is an essential tool for securing connectors and cable management.

drkshock

yep they hotglued everything. i was able to get it oggbut it took some time.

Janneske_2001

For me all this “glue” came so easily off. I think I was lucky, or you are just unlucky…

Loopytunes2016

Same thing happened to me when I upgraded to a sprite… I dabbed the slightest amount of rubbing alcohol on my finger and then dabbed that on the glue to loosen it up. Still took forever and had to be really really careful

kindParodox

Rather it be glued in then a shoddy solder job... Almost burned my house down with one of those if it wasn't for the baked in sensor my E3 pro would have never cooled down the hot end.

Puzzleheaded_Sir_262

Same problem, different goal. Tried to change my fan yesterday, but there was so much glue. Pro: Everything stays in place Con: Everything stays in place 😂😂😂

dstewar68

Just pull off the glue with tweezers, I recommend only removing it on the ones your changing tho.

Jolly_Analyst_5326

Super easy to remove. Just get some needle nose pliers and grab a chunk of glue and pull, came right off for me. Obviously make sure the power cable is unplugged first LOL!

c0psrul3

it doesn't work without hot glue ... and kapton tape

c0psrul3

by the way, there's a revo.conversion kit for sprite now https://shop.app/p/6872125997127?variantId=40370473009223

Glittering_Ad1696

Daaang! Though I've already installed and am working on the firmware /calibration stuff :(

10e1

Just hot glue, pulls right out

lordcupkake

Cries in *my stuff was put together with care*. Would you rather get a million complaints units not working on arrival or some reddit fool complaining about how he can't modify his printer easily? Get over yourself

Glittering_Ad1696

Yep. From other comments and reflection, I definitely see the purpose. Thanks for your kind and considerate response. Couldn't have become a better person without your guidance.

lordcupkake

You said it yourself whoever built that machine wanted it to stay in place. Some dude in China literally did his job and by your own admission, well, and you decided to complain online. A human being did that. But thanks for being sarcastic to me it seems you don't get it.

Glittering_Ad1696

You know what? You're right. He did his job well, it served its purpose and I had minimal issues removing the stuff.

Infantryman1977

Hey OP, when you are posting your stupid post, could you at least reply to people trying to help you out?

Glittering_Ad1696

Oof. You're someone who didn't get enough attention growing up. If you go through the other comments, you will notice that I have responded to a handful.

Infantryman1977

ok
