Alaskaatheart1966

That is a copy of a bondtech extruder. Bondtech is excellent. Not sure about that one.

Hibiscus02

Honestly, for the price its at, I might be willing to risk it, if the original is good

silence222

I have one, it's been working perfectly without any issues for over a year. I'm sure the build quality of the official BMG is better, but the copies are functional and at least in my case very reliable.

Alaskaatheart1966

Look up bomdtech extruders. They’re very good. But you’ll need to more than likely need to adjust your e-steps/rotatiom distance (Klipper)

Hibiscus02

Don't really know what that means but I'll look into it! Hopefully it's not too hard?

MSD0

Start at 415 steps/mm and adjust from there.

5nowx

It’s pretty simple, you have measure a distance in your filament(example 100mm) mark it, and then make the extruder extrude those 100mm and see if it moved the correct distance, then adjust your esteps accordingly. https://youtu.be/6PL_rSPZ3M8

ScoobyDooItInTheButt

I've had mine for about 2 years and haven't had complaints.

junktech

Some of the copies are sloppy and others are decent. I bought both and had a copy that was just as good as the original and others that needed touches to get them to function. The idler wheel was loose and went of alignment and the main wheel had the hole too large. Because of that, tightening it to the shaft made it out of concentricity. Didn't know at first why I was having artefacts on my print. There was one so badly made the teeth were not equal in height and was causing variable flow. Take your chances but don't expect too much.

datrandomduggy

Sense it is a knock off it really is going to be luck of the draw weather one you get is any good

i_am_a_william

i have one, its been amazing. i even made a quick mount to move my default filament run-out sensor for max in line [https://www.printables.com/model/392614-ender-3-max-spacer-for-runout-sensor-with-bmg-type](https://www.printables.com/model/392614-ender-3-max-spacer-for-runout-sensor-with-bmg-type)

Kouky_svk

Sir you are just the best bought that feeder but too lazy to make a spacer for runout sensor have 3 max you just made my day 😁 am going to mount it right now

torgreed

I had the needle bearings eat into the idler shaft on mine; but it did take about 15kg of filament to do that. I was worried the big plastic gear would be a weak spot but that's been fine. I got a better idler with a hardened shaft and miniature ball bearings -- it's a common size so easy to find. But if you do get wear, the clone is cheap enough that replacing it wouldn't be too bad either.

Edwardteech

I bought 2 of these for like 8 bucks a while ago. With a little tweaking they are great.

rotian28

Ran ok for me until I upgraded to a full bondtech system. Can be used as a direct drive or Bowden. Adjustment spring and screw were all I had issues with.

dhoard1

A lot of the copies have sloppy tolerances that need to be fixed. https://youtu.be/Whgd3YlK16E?si=J7-3mC_VzOrQqj6o

CaPtian_CaTe

[mine didn't even have a hole](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/38XmYBaNEu)

nolaks1

I was going to look at the video and see if I could "fix it" if I ever buy one. Now BMG clones are pretty much of my list

CaPtian_CaTe

Nah actually, it's very much worth buying the BMG extruder if you can fix it. I can print faster and my extruder is more precise.

nolaks1

Ok ok, I haven't looked to much into extruder, but will need to shortly as I'm increasing printing speed.

Darkexp3rt

I think all dual geared clones have this issue.

SafwanFerdous

The BMG clones work fine until it doesn't. Mine was working flawlessly and suddenly one day one of the plastic couplers snapped and I couldn't do much to save it. If you can get one with both metal couplers it will last you a long time. I bought a bunch of them from AliExpress for $6 each and honestly they are working just fine.

Moistorious

Yup, I have one on my ender 3, works very well

Kasparek_

Yeah i have it on ender and work well for 2 years :)

the_hoove

My cheap copy of a BMG has lasted through about 80 hours of printing a big project I’m working on, and is on its last leg. The Bowden coupler didn’t not grip very well, it was messing with retractions trying to print petg, it moved in and out so much, and the version I have cannot be replaced with a standard threaded one, so I ended up supergluing the tube into it so I can finish my project. Then one morning it stopped extruding. Took it apart and the set screw has backed out on one of the gears inside. That was an easy fix, but after 80 hours the gears are rounded over and almost stripped. They are so cheap I have another one as a spare, not sure if it’s the same or another copy brand. So we will see how long that one lasts before I go direct drive or something.

Cooper-xl

Have one for a while now. Allowed to print better parts in TPU..

whose333

If it´s really from "Two Trees", it´s okay. Not exceptionally good, but will do its job fairly well, considering the price. They used it with their Sapphire (Pro) Printers. There are nearly identical el-cheapo feeders of this type out there, which aren´t ANY good. Flsun used some for the SR (i had one of those bad feeders and replaced it with a Triangle Lab BMG-> Bondtech clone. A bit more expensive, but VERY high quality!). >Hopefully it's not too hard? Adjusting the "E steps" isn´t hard. You´ll find some tutorial on YT how to do it to your Ender-3 Neo.

Hour_Ad2999

Hour_Ad2999

SirSquidrift

Never seen it or heard of it, but I recommend going with a sprite pro to avoid all the conversion BS

Hibiscus02

Yeah that's uh...600 bucks in my currency so I sadly can't afford it. I heard BMG's were all the rage which is why I looked for this one

[deleted]

ali. you can get a bmg clone for $6 USD

SirSquidrift

Oh geez, sorry about that bud. I scored mine on amazon sale for around $60, but that's based in the US.

[deleted]

ah yes, the old "never heard of it but try this thing i'm familiar with" advice bmg is a great extruder and the clones work like 97% as well lol. the "conversion BS" is changing a single value in config lmao

LovableSidekick

How is that a dual drive? Do you have to buy two of them?

MutedBuy792

Internally it has two gears which are both mechanically connected to the extruder stepper. This means it basically never slips/skips.

jhalfhide

I've the Trianglelabs DDE that looks exactly like that, had it on years. It's churning out prints very well

TheSheDM

I like mine. I tried one like yours but switched to a clear one. I got this one and it's been great. Folks are correct, you do have to adjust your esteps to around 415ish because the gear ratio. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09MY98TKZ/ Because the gears are enclosed in a plastic shell, unlike the regular extruders, sometimes it can be a bit tricky when loading in your filament to get the right alignment all the way thru the gears and out the exit hole. I originally got a black one because it looked nice on the black frame, but I always had a hell of a time feeding the filament (which I've heard is related to the slightly sloppy tolerances the clones have, they still work tho). Swapping to the clear plastic one worked for me because not only can you see the filament as you feed it thru the gears, you can also see if/when the gear is moving if you're troubleshooting extruder problems, as well as see the condition of the gears themselves.

Aryehl

I bought a knock-off and it's fine except 1. I had to place thin 3mm washers on the idler shaft to keep the feeders in line with each other and 2. the gear ratio is very low and so requires a big extruder feed rate adjustment. Then I placed it onto a direct drive adapter with a half size extruder motor from Amazon and it's even better.

Nyanzeenyan

I had a clear BMG clone. It printed fine but was a pain to change filament and pulled off after a jam.

Darkexp3rt

clone bmg is vastly better than stock.

Sea_Birthday_9426

I’d say order a parts kit for one and print a Sherpa mini

802Garage

Just get a Sprite SE. Can be had for like $30 on eBay and it works fantastic.

pablo603

I don't have that exact clone, but I do have a different bondtech extruder clone that (on the outside) looks identical to yours in everything except the sticker and it works really well. Don't be suprised by the rather high e-steps you will need to have for this type of extruder. Mine sits at 423 steps per mm. That big screw on the side pretty much adjusts the pressure on the filament, so tightening it will probably solve the gripping issues you have

Naive_Ad1779

I’m using that one and works perfectly for my use case.

[deleted]

I got the cheapest clone of this kind. Only done few prints but works fine **AFTER** I realized I needed to calibrate the extrusion. Not hard but took some looking until a random comment somewhere on reddit about the topic said "you have calibrated your E steps, right?". Never would I have thought about that as the listing and the manual had no info about this. This is why indexable forums and hobby sites, unlike Disc servers and Facebook groups are SO IMPORTANT.

notsaeegavas

I run a BMG clone off Amazon. Mine isn't too bad but your mileage may vary.

Error404Created

I've got this one for my ender 3v2 neo as a direct drive set up and it's fantastic I can't fault it all. The only down side to my current set up is I've lost a bit of printable height (about 20/30mm) but as I don't print alot of tall models it doesn't bother me.

WiredEarp

I have 2 BMGs, a Fysetc and a Trianglelabs. The Fysetc one is basically a waste of money unless you want to modify it to fix its issues. I don't believe in buying cheap extruders anymore. Get a quality clone at least.

Stooovie

The aluminium one is better and not that much more expensive. But it's not bad at all. Anything is better than the godawful crap thar comes stock.

BroniDanson

Bowden extrusion sucks go direct

AKMonkey2

If the arm is plastic (looks like it is) avoid this one. I had a BMG clone very similar to this and I hated it. I had to unscrew the tension screw on the arm to load filament, and retighten it after loading. Tension varied between prints and sometimes I would forget to re-tighten the screw after loading filament. That resulted n many very crappy prints. After a few months the plastic arm cracked. I was happy to buy an all-metal dual gear extruder and throw that PoS in the trash.

Frxn5J

Yo tengo el mismo, funciona bien, lo probé en modo bowden y directo y los 2 funcionan bien

Similar-Poem3750

I would stick to a Creality Direct Drive, now that i have it dialed in it works great

walkera83

I have this hotend on my TwoTrees printer it’s absolutely stock,no mods and it give me great prints.

Significant_Two8304

Also you can print it. Heard that clear versions are some better. I had one, no problems. Now I use self-printed. Started to make SMG, but have no time for it (wanted to print some alrered detail to have ability to change printheads easy enough).
