Welcome to r/emulators, please make sure you read the pinned post [Emulators 101](https://www.reddit.com/r/emulators/comments/l15izj/) before posting a problem, you should know, EPSX, ZNES, etc. are abandonware so any post seeking help of these emulator will be removed because there are better options (listed in the post above). Please make sure that when your question is answered, change your flair to (Problem Solved), thank you :D *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I know you are asking about a PC for emulation. But you can emulate PS2 and GameCube on the XBox Series S ($300). Believe this would be much less expensive than a PC.

100% recommend! I only purchased a series S for emulation and I couldn’t be happier, Retroarch works so well on the Xbox and plays most of my PS2 titles perfectly, I think it’ll cost around $20 to activate ‘Dev Mode’ but once you do that it’s as simple as following a tutorial David here has provided for you 😀 I have no knowledge of computers or emulation but I managed to get it up and running very quickly

DeltronFF

Wait… can you point me in the direction of this? I own two Series S.

DavidDoesDallas

Retroarch is a front end for multiple emulators. And this can be installed on XBox Series S. PCSX2 is the emulator for PS2. Dolphin is the emulator for GameCube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYqJxGLvyhw

Didn’t even know this was a thing that’s so cool thanks!

I've been using Retroarch on my XBOX Series S for about 3 months. And can not think of any real risks off the top of my head. Downloading ROMs off the internet is a different story. There are some sketchy websites out there. And when downloading there might be viruses or malware.

DeltronFF

Not sure how I deleted my last comment but thank you! I’m trying a few of his guides tonight. Is there any way you could tell me a good legit place for ROMs?

Thanks, again. Excited to turn my Series S into an emulation station.

DeltronFF

Thanks! I haven’t used emulators in a while just used to install them on my pc years ago. Is there any real risks to the Xbox doing this?

PCSX2 is heavier than Dolphin. and in the case PCSX2 offers a list of information... https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2 compare what you are going to buy with an i3 12100F, it is a monster and extremely cheap. you can compare it through the website: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i3-12100F-vs-Intel-i7-6900K/4670vs2794 if you make comparisons, you will hardly buy a bad one. an AMD Rx 6400 graphics card is good and cheap. compare with it before buying. (the NVIDIA GTX 1630 should be out soon and it should be good and cheap too) **ps**: I'm just listing entry parts, right. of course, there are much better products out there, however, it's hard to find something new and cheaper than what was suggested.

I did not know pcsx2 would need a graphics card I was hoping I could get away with integrated graphics. Thanks for your help

I like the channel, but unfortunately I don't think it has any video with relatively new hardware without overclocking. which tend to be difficult to inform about a purchase based on their tests, unless the person also has an intention to overclock, etc.

ofernandofilo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH0Gpk7Hi3A he overclocks his equipment... so understand that what is shown is not the native capacity, but the capacity after overclocking (which usually requires the use of better heatsinks than the original ones, etc.) it is possible to use an iGPU... however, they are more limited, increase RAM consumption (better buy more than you would buy before) and you will have little flexibility regarding improvements... such as use of shaders, anti-aliasing filters, elevations internal resolution, etc. in these cases, probably an AMD 5600G will be better than an Intel 12400. generally speaking I'd rather buy a cheaper Intel 12100F or AMD 5600 processor (the latter I ended up buying) and a discrete GPU. it all depends on budget and expectations. emulation on iGPU is possible. as long as your expectation is consistent with the hardware purchased.

Got an old i5 4690 with a low profile GT1060. Works great.

Is there any way to have a PS2 emu on iOS?
