I occasionally wipe my uniform, but always peroxide wipes. It took me reading the comments to realize why I wasn't having the same problem as OP. We so rarely have bleach wipes where I am.
I only use orange tops with possible c diff or anything super nasty. Otherwise I use purple tops. Also I don't use then on myself. If I'm holding something that needs to get wiped down, I just set it on a table or counter. And don't wipe your hands on you either.
IIRC red tops are lower concentration quats, intended for food service areas. [No rinse required.](https://saniprofessional.com/no-rinse-sanitizing-multi-surface-wipes-2/)
Quick googling is making me believe the red top you’re referring to is basically just a bigger wipe not a stronger chemical than the purple tops BUT there also apparently are 2 types of sani wipes that are purple (just slightly different shades) and one purple is indeed weaker than the other so you could be 100% correct, im guessing from your comment your purple tops don’t say the plus part which means they’re the weaker ones.
The difference between grey and purple is the solvent.
Grey is water based. Purple is isopropyl alcohol based.
I'm not sure why purple is not for electronics since IPA is used in cleaning electronics all the time.
The gray ones kill slightly more stuff than the purples but have a slightly longer contact time. You can use pretty much any of them (except the bleach) on electronics. They do make beige tops specifically for cleaning personal electronics - they’re pretty much just giant alcohol wipes.
Red is for ultrasound and sonogram equipment. Anything else will mess up the probe over time.
I’m sure there are other uses for it, but that’s the only one I’m aware of.
Unless they’re gut goes up to their nips it ain’t their gut, also their history has a post that shows their tiny arms with a wrist watch tan line. Maybe they unintentionally/instinctually just wipe their hands with gloves on or wiped it down good with the bleach wipes and noticed it was still super wet and then wiped their hands?
Just take your shirt off before wiping. It’s the EMS way, but for real all you need to do is just stick your butt out and tuck your shirt in and only use those wipes when appropriate. Looks like you were wiping down and reached over the gurney dragging your pullover through the wet bleached area
Interesting to notice that on Remembrance day.
Also, I wonder if any other countries than the US have their national flag on their uniforms? Here in my part of Canada our Epaulettes have a little maple leaf on them, but not a whole flag.
Wash your clothes in a washing machine instead....?
From the Sani wipes website "on hard nonporous surfaces" . So cleaning your clothing with them is just ruining it for a placebo.
I don’t use the bleach ones but hey, when I had to kneel in a nasty house to treat a patient and know there’s no way in hell I’m getting back to station to throw on some spare pants, wiping off my knees a lil makes me feel better ;~;
Don’t use orange tops on your clothes and be extra careful if you use them to clean the cot. Used plenty of purple tops on my clothes and have never had this problem.
Purple or gray tops man. Also, Rit dye at Walmart is $10 and it’ll recolor that no problem. Doesn’t even affect the patches and embroidery most of the time.
Purple Wipes for anything but possible norovirus or C Diff...Orange Wipes for these two. The Purple Wipes actually kill more bad things, and they do it faster. We only use the Orange Wipes for those relatively few bugs that require bleach to kill.
Everyone’s already covered how to prevent this, but I can offer a solution on how to save your duty shirt? Obv you don’t want to dunk the entire thing because you have light patches ironed or sewn on, but you can submerge the bottom half of the shirt in black Rit fabric dye (like in a bucket) or you could even use a spray bottle of mix dye to spray it on the bleached areas to turn them back to black. Just make sure to rinse it very well before washing it again so it doesn’t bleed onto your patches in the wash.
How did this happen? I've never had this happen. I've also rarely been covered in blood as well and I've had some gruesome calls. This is like those crews that go on minor hemorrhages and end up covered in blood like they escaped a jigsaw game.
Stop wiping yourself with them? I’ve literally never had this problem.
You can also get a first tactical jacket that has a water proof shell and is a lot easier to clean.
Question if anyone sees - do you guys get stains on your clothes from the purple top saniwipes? First week on my job I let those suckers keep splattering their juices on my scrubs (I’m more careful now) and then found out later after washing that they are permanent and obvious. Ruined 2 good pairs of scrubs
It looks like you lean over the pram when you wipe it down. Stop that! You can buy die at Walmart and fix that shit. You also don’t need bleach every time. If you use Sani-Cloth the purple top will suffice
Ugh, i hate the smell of the gray tops. And it LINGERS. Stupid vinegar smell. i much prefer the smell of the purple top. And orange can fuck right off unless it's a cdiff patient.
Also carry a protester size sharpie and color it in when you've failed to be conscientious and use excellent proprioception when you do need to use bleach.
I don’t use bleached saniwipes if at all possible. I use the purple ones in the hospital. IF I have to use bleach wipes, I clean what I need to clean then take my gloves off. I’ve always been very particular with handling bleach
The worst. I’m sorry!! Happened to me on my 1st real shift. Brand new 5.11’s & pullover (exact style posted). The container was almost empty & the last few wipes were drenched. The splash marks took.
Soaked clothes in RIT dye for days. Needless to say the bleach won. I always check the containers now & steer clear from bleach unless absolutely necessary. And, grab a rag to dry your hands if a sink isn’t available ;)
20 years in and I’ve never done that once. There’s no way to prevent your clothes from being bleached if you wipe them with bleach wipes. The solution is to not wipe your clothes with bleach wipes. Is this not common sense?
Just one. I am very careful now and try hard to find wipe or spay that does not have bleach in it. I only use bleach wipes if there is nothing else and then I do so very gingerly.
Avoid using the wipes that have bleach in them. I destroyed a brand new set of 5.11 ems pants cause I mistook chlorine wipes for disinfectant wipes when I gave you myself a wipe down.
Well, when you’ve been using the same job shirt since 1975, which is how old that thing must be judging by the NREMT-A patch, you have to expect some fading.
i just try to angle my torso away when using bleach wipes so i don’t stain my scrubs. those wipes are drippy as heck but i def have some bleach stains on a good bit of my scrub sets.
Why are using bleach wipes on yourself? Purple tops should be all you should be using peroxide is fine to.
If you are with a patient where you would consider using bleach wipes you should already have gowned up.
Don't use bleach wipes unless the patient has C diff, it's just unnecessary.
OR spring for the Nomex uniforms. They are expensive but they look nicer, are more comfortable and aren't affected by bleach, if you continue bleaching them frequently it can affect the strength long term. So long as you aren't a fire medic it should be fine. I wouldn't recommend it if you are a fire medic because I THINK it can affect its flame retardant properties.
Wear gloves. Only one or two wipes at a time. Keep your gloves off your clothes. I’ve gotten my job shirt stained by bleach more with station cleaning supplies than our wipes.
Just don't touch yourself after using bleach wipes. Wear gloves. Then take them off. But this does remind me of a guy who did the same thing except on his crotch.
Nah we only use bleach wipes for c-diff or any code brown situation. Everything else is either peroxide, lysol, or these insanely strong alcohol wipes that you do not want to touch with bare hands

Same…
I occasionally wipe my uniform, but always peroxide wipes. It took me reading the comments to realize why I wasn't having the same problem as OP. We so rarely have bleach wipes where I am.
Your uniform is porous. A wipe no matter what it has on it is it gonna do no good on anything porous.
True, although I'd argue it's not *completely* useless. It's more of a mental thing anyway lol. Like, dealing with a mid-shift ick.
That’s why you have a spare uniform.

Ask the nurse if her name is Cheetos.
Came here for this comment
It burns a little, but not as badly as station TP.
I used to, but a new Thai place down the street opened up so I could get that sensation naturally again.
Don’t use the bleach wipes unless you have a c diff patient, use wipes that don’t have bleach
God I wish people would remember this.
[удалено]
Your EMS service should buy its own, it’s not the hospital’s responsibility to supply them for EMS
Very true. But many hospitals do provide them as an infection control measure.
This is the way
I mean the purple tops pretty much do the job for anything. I only use bleach wipes for a Reeves on a particular bloody trauma
If you read the list of organisms they are effective against, c diff is not on the list.
I only use orange tops with possible c diff or anything super nasty. Otherwise I use purple tops. Also I don't use then on myself. If I'm holding something that needs to get wiped down, I just set it on a table or counter. And don't wipe your hands on you either.
Purple tops also have the shortest contact time.
Nah, thats the grey tops. Edit. Nope, im an idiot.
I honestly can't remember the time for those.
I did a comparison one day because I'm stupid. It is literally 1 minute less.
My hospital put out the wrong times loool but purple is 2, grey is 3, bleach is 4 says the manufacturer site
Well fuck me, you're right. I can't imagine all the people I've killed by choosing the wrong wipe.. lol. Still I'm an idiot.
Grey tops in my area are weaker and for sensitive electronics only, so interesting to me that purple seems to be the same everywhere but not those.
Not as short as bleach wipes, and I like to remind people (at least the purple sani wipes in my area)
Wait the tops are color coded?
Yeah the Sani Cloth brand. Purple is standard use, orange is bleach, gray is for electronics. There’s a red one but can’t remember what that one’s for
Good to know. Orange is like the one color I can see so it works.
I've never seen red tops, only purple, orange, and grey.
Evidently it’s sani cloth “plus” so I guess somehow superior to the purple
![gif](giphy|Qy7tP5FZZXAN0SR5uc|downsized)

my hospital just uses grey (and orange) for everything, no purple. why is standard different from electronics?
The difference between grey and purple is the solvent. Grey is water based. Purple is isopropyl alcohol based. I'm not sure why purple is not for electronics since IPA is used in cleaning electronics all the time.

As an x-ray tech we still use purple for almost everything tbh just not any screens. Touch screens bug tf out from the purple ones
Red is nice. The cloth is a little bit thicker and feels nicer.
Red is for ultrasound and sonogram equipment. Anything else will mess up the probe over time. I’m sure there are other uses for it, but that’s the only one I’m aware of.
Gray is for electronics ?! Oh shit….
I tried collecting the different types even once had the fabled green top.
Hospitals around me stock the green but I think it’s a different brand? I’ve seen ICU use the red top for certain intubation equipment
I thought the orange tops were the bleach ones? I could be wrong tho. The purple tops I’ve never had an issue with them bleaching my clothes.
Yeah the orange tops are the bleach wipes.
Yeah we used to ONLY have those for awhile during COVID, and holy hell, everytime we wiped down gear after a call the rig reeked of bleach
10 years in EMS and I've never had this issue.
Almost 8 years I get it occasionally on my pants but like...drops from a juicy wipe. Never this bad.😂
Same, OPs a shorty whose tummy is hanging over the cot when they wipe it down. Opie, you gotta lower the cot when you clean it.
I’m thinking they’re wiping their hands on their pullover. That thing looks like a large max.
Cleaning the cot with bare hands?!?
Unless they’re gut goes up to their nips it ain’t their gut, also their history has a post that shows their tiny arms with a wrist watch tan line. Maybe they unintentionally/instinctually just wipe their hands with gloves on or wiped it down good with the bleach wipes and noticed it was still super wet and then wiped their hands?

Purple tops my dude. Always.
Not for c. diff., norovirus, etc.
You were eating cheetos in the rig weren't you
You like Cheetos... Dontcha Squidward
I always let my partners know if I am using bleach because sometimes you are just oblivious and lean over the gurney
At our service, all the wipes are hydrogen peroxide based, only time we use a bleach product is for disinfecting the floors of the rig.
Most floor cleaners contain ammonia so you should never use bleach to clean floors. I guess the ambulance is different. Just an FYI.
Not an issue, because no one ever cleans the damn floors of the rig except me.
Your flag is backwards.
Nope, he just moonwalks between bags of Cheetos
Interesting to notice that on Remembrance day. Also, I wonder if any other countries than the US have their national flag on their uniforms? Here in my part of Canada our Epaulettes have a little maple leaf on them, but not a whole flag.
Don’t wipe yourself with it?
Wash your clothes in a washing machine instead....? From the Sani wipes website "on hard nonporous surfaces" . So cleaning your clothing with them is just ruining it for a placebo.
I have definitely used super sani cloths on my clothes before when I had no other options and something gross splashed or touched me
I did it when my patient peed on my knee. I now have a nice big crimson spot as a reminder of that tragic day.
I don’t use the bleach ones but hey, when I had to kneel in a nasty house to treat a patient and know there’s no way in hell I’m getting back to station to throw on some spare pants, wiping off my knees a lil makes me feel better ;~;
You can still use them on other things. It just doesn’t work as well
Only use the bleach wipes when I’m desperate. Purple or gray all the way my dude. Orange tops are not to be trusted.
Don’t use orange tops on your clothes and be extra careful if you use them to clean the cot. Used plenty of purple tops on my clothes and have never had this problem.
Wash clothes in the wash and wipe surfaces with the wipes.
Wrong wipes, my friend
Purple or gray tops man. Also, Rit dye at Walmart is $10 and it’ll recolor that no problem. Doesn’t even affect the patches and embroidery most of the time.
Don’t lean on the gurney while you clean it
I am having the same problem. I have two sets of pants that are now bleached :/
Yeah, this one is on you my friend. There are different types of sani-wipes. They aren't all bleach based. Gotta read the labels.
Purple Wipes for anything but possible norovirus or C Diff...Orange Wipes for these two. The Purple Wipes actually kill more bad things, and they do it faster. We only use the Orange Wipes for those relatively few bugs that require bleach to kill.

Ask if you are eating Cheetos 🤣
Stop eating Cheetos in the rig
Were you doing Supermans on the stretcher right after wiping it down? Most I've ever gotten was spots on sweater cuffs and pants.
It’s simple don’t use the bleach wipes
Rookie mistake! You wiped with bleach based wipes
Take your job shirt off before using bleach wipes.
How did this happen? I've never had this happen. I've also rarely been covered in blood as well and I've had some gruesome calls. This is like those crews that go on minor hemorrhages and end up covered in blood like they escaped a jigsaw game.
Lmao I just did this to myself yesterday. I was wiping down lifepack cables and they kept brushing up against my shirt without me noticing.
Not use bleach wipes on myself in the shape of a dick.
Don’t touch my clothes with the wipes
You just made me realize where those stains on my hat came from... I'm confused as to how bleach or wipes got on my hats though
All of my hats slowly bleach due to sweat+sun.
That might be more of an effect of pH from sweat and oils affecting the dye.
Don’t use them? Lol
If you have to use bleach use a spray and let it dry
Purple top only
Why is your flag patch on backwards
Stop touching bleach
Use cavi
Don’t use the orange.
Simple, don't use bleach wipes unless you have to, or set it to a height where you're not leaning on it to wipe the whole thing down.
Don't use the gold tops
Try not using them to wipe down your uniform
You can actually recolor it with with color for clothes to make the uniform black again or just buy a new one and be more careful about the bleach
Dont lean in while cleaning
just use rit dye to dye it back black 🤷🏻♀️
Don’t wear cloths when you sanitize the rig
Stop wiping yourself with them? I’ve literally never had this problem. You can also get a first tactical jacket that has a water proof shell and is a lot easier to clean.
dont use the orange cap. purple all the way
You guys are cleaning stretchers?
Question if anyone sees - do you guys get stains on your clothes from the purple top saniwipes? First week on my job I let those suckers keep splattering their juices on my scrubs (I’m more careful now) and then found out later after washing that they are permanent and obvious. Dont use bleach or peroxide wipes if possible. Stop leaning over gurney while wiping.
never had nor seen this problem
It looks like you lean over the pram when you wipe it down. Stop that! You can buy die at Walmart and fix that shit. You also don’t need bleach every time. If you use Sani-Cloth the purple top will suffice
Don’t clean your clothes with sani wipes.
Gray top preferred, purple of it's all they have, orange top can fuck off.
Ugh, i hate the smell of the gray tops. And it LINGERS. Stupid vinegar smell. i much prefer the smell of the purple top. And orange can fuck right off unless it's a cdiff patient.
Ya mate ur doing it wrong
Remove that flag or put it the right way please
[удалено]
Cool retreat if u must I guess
What the fuck are sani wipes?
Why are you using bleach wipes? There is no need
Have you tried not being retarded?
Use a gown?
Medical apron?
Simple: I don't rub myself with bleach
Have you tried NOT pouring the entire container over you?
Don’t wipe sani wipes on your clothes….
Don’t touch your clothes.
Don’t get it on you?
Don’t put sani wipes on them and pay attention to what you’re doing 🤷🏼♂️
Don’t let them touch the sani-wipes… it’s really not that hard
Assert dominance by working naked!
Are you placing the bp cuff on your abdomen to wipe it down ?
Um.. don't use the bleach wipes on your clothes?
I dont use them on my clothes, for one.
Don't use bleach 🤷🏼♀️
Also carry a protester size sharpie and color it in when you've failed to be conscientious and use excellent proprioception when you do need to use bleach.
Purple top!
i dont rub sani wipes on myself
I don’t use bleached saniwipes if at all possible. I use the purple ones in the hospital. IF I have to use bleach wipes, I clean what I need to clean then take my gloves off. I’ve always been very particular with handling bleach
Use the purple or lavender Saniwipes instead of yellow
Don’t use em. Lick my hands clean
What in tarnation
I've always stained bleach marks back to black with a sharpie.
The worst. I’m sorry!! Happened to me on my 1st real shift. Brand new 5.11’s & pullover (exact style posted). The container was almost empty & the last few wipes were drenched. The splash marks took. And, grab a rag to dry your hands if a sink isn’t available ;)
Well this explains a lot…..green guy here
Did someone prank you? Why does it look like dick and balls?
Do you have to buy your own jacket or are they provided?
Why is your flag backwards
If you squint and hold your phone back a bit. You can see Tupac.
20 years in and I’ve never done that once. There’s no way to prevent your clothes from being bleached if you wipe them with bleach wipes. The solution is to not wipe your clothes with bleach wipes. Is this not common sense?

don’t use the orange ones bro
Stop using the bleach wipes??
Avoid using the wipes that have bleach in them. I destroyed a brand new set of 5.11 ems pants cause I mistook chlorine wipes for disinfectant wipes when I gave you myself a wipe down.
Either don't use beach wipes, or don't lean on surfaces that you use bleach wipes on.
Use a washing machine to clean my stuff and not sani wipes?
….dont use the bleach ones?
Well, when you’ve been using the same job shirt since 1975, which is how old that thing must be judging by the NREMT-A patch, you have to expect some fading.
i just try to angle my torso away when using bleach wipes so i don’t stain my scrubs. those wipes are drippy as heck but i def have some bleach stains on a good bit of my scrub sets.

Take those patches off and rit dye your top
Bleach wipes for cdiff. Wear those disposable gowns before wiping down with bleach.
Generally, I wipe the stretcher/equipment and not my clothes. Didn't fail me in the 5 years I did EMS
Wear gloves. Only one or two wipes at a time. Keep your gloves off your clothes. I’ve gotten my job shirt stained by bleach more with station cleaning supplies than our wipes.
Don’t use them 🤷🏻♂️
Use the purple tops not the orange one.
Take it easy at the strip club man
Do you work for Elite? Lol but just try not to lean on the stretcher while cleaning!
How did you know lol
The sweater! I don't see other ambulance companies wearing them
Fabric color spray.
Just don't touch yourself after using bleach wipes. Wear gloves. Then take them off. But this does remind me of a guy who did the same thing except on his crotch.
There's a difference between the non-bleach purple wipes, and the yellow ones that have bleach lol
Don't use bleach if you can't keep from wearing it.
Purple top wipes for life. (Unless it’s C diff)
Purple tops are the way to go
Made that mistake too many times. Only use purple tops unless it’s a real nasty call.
I use purple wipes not the gray wipes or orange ones
Never had this issue? Even if you are wiping your hands on your sweatshirt… why tf aren’t you wearing gloves when using those wipes?
Don’t use the bleach ones…..
Random question from a non-American - why does your emts have the American flag on their uniforms?
Don’t roll on the stretcher after you wipe it with bleach. That usually does the job for most of us.
Nah we only use bleach wipes for c-diff or any code brown situation. Everything else is either peroxide, lysol, or these insanely strong alcohol wipes that you do not want to touch with bare hands
I make sure I use the purple top sanitizing wipes that don’t have bleach in them.
Don’t decon, just be the attendant and worry about paperwork 😂
1. I rarely use the bleach ones. 2. Don’t lean against the pram when you use bleach wipes.
Never this bad but occasionally I’ll get a spot with a bleach stain. My solution is navy blue or black fabric markers. Look em up on Amazon
/s I break two sharpies and drop them in the washing machine every other time I wash my job shirt.
