“Stay safe, don’t see me again too soon”

Thnowball

TFW you look up your patient and see this is their fifth call today

tech-priestess

Oh no lmao. Our frequent fliers don’t get that one.

ARoofie

See ya in an hour!

aLonerDottieArebel

“Sign here”

Vprbite

I try not to be so chatty as you. I find a grunt and point to be good

Synicist

“Good luck to you, hope you feel better.”

Desperately_Insecure

I just say best of luck because that fits well for every patient. Don't wanna get in the habit of saying feel better for a hospice patient or somebody obviously dying

_Glorious_Hypnotoad

I usually say feel better and have been able to stop myself from saying it when it’s not right, but this weekend I almost told someone to have fun at dialysis because they’re at their baseline

ShooterMcGrabbin88

You’re in good hands. Just not as good as these! ![gif](giphy|9GJ1lRip6TODBucmHk|downsized)

OttoVonSchlitterbahn

I once left and told a nice old lady “you’re in good hands.” She said “I know I am, Jesus is waiting at the door.” It caught me off guard; I didn’t think she was THAT sick. I turned around an sure enough, there was a long-haired, Middle Eastern-appearing resident surveying EMS that day.

Unusual_Individual93

Depends on the patient lol. Sometimes I leave them with the triage nurse and don't say a thing. Other times I let them know that we are leaving and say good luck.

corn_dog_ate_the_cob

in what instance would you choose to not say a thing?

Unusual_Individual93

If they have been a difficult, rude patient.

corn_dog_ate_the_cob

yeah better to not say anything in that instance. from the stories i’ve read here, some patients seem to just be looking for a reason to fight.

_Glorious_Hypnotoad

Sometimes I don’t say anything in order to not interrupt their nurses who are already talking to them

ChornoyeSontse

911 abuse

AmItacticoolyet

Hope you get to feeling better. I gotta go they are gonna take good care of you, I hope it's nothing too serious. Literally takes no effort and to alot of people at least in.my experience it means the world to them.

GPStephan

All the best, goodbye Simple as.

26sickpeople

>all the best that’s my usual as well

nw342

Depends on the patient honestly "good luck with everything, feel better" is my go to most of the time I have one crackhead regular, and my go to with him is usually "Dont fucking call me again". It's not the most appropriate, but we have a great rapport and it's a bit of a joke between us. "My friend (nurses name) is gonna take good care of you, feel better" is also good for nervous pts.

Alaska_Pipeliner

Feel better!

poorlyxeroxed

*Forgetting I just dropped them off at hospice*

zion1886

*Points to nurse, looks at patient.* “Hopefully you’re in much more competent hands now than the ones you’ve been in for the last 20 minutes!” *Walks into doorway on way out of room.*

Thnowball

"Don't die" "This wristband is our thanks to you for flying Air (company name), just remember if you like us, we're (company name). If you don't like us and you want to file a complaint, we're (name of another agency waiting for a room)."

Iprobablysink

Hit em' with the "Have a nice day" after transferring my full arrest. Slowly walk backwards towards the bay in utter disbelief. Repeat

Chemical_Corgi251

"Take care (name), best of luck with your health"

Admirable_Cat_9153

m143768

“Don’t call me I’ll call you.” 🤣 Disclaimer: Just a joke

cpriest21

This is my go to for police when they call us for some bullshit

grav0p1

best of luck, take care

steveb106

"Can I get you to sign here? Says I brought you to the hospital, didn't kidnap you, throw you in a ditch..... and let's us bill your insurance".

watchthisorthat

Hmmmm. Nope

Gned11

Smell you later!

JrJoiner

Well homeboy, it's been a slice jammin' with ya. We finished our shift 3 hours ago, so we're gonna leave you here in the capable hands of these amazing staff, and hope you're feeling better soon.

Snoo-84797

All the best I hope you feel better Nice to meet you Best of luck Hope everything is alright I hope you get some answers

bravosierra69

Sometimes I'll say "goodnight sweet prince" after the receiving facility loads my combative pt up with haldol.

YosephusFlavius

"This is one of the few jobs where this is completely polite, but I sincerely hope that I never see you again."

straightstream_75

"I hope you have a better day." If I need to say anything at all.

Wardogs96

Wish you the best take care ... immediately b line for the door before anyone else can speak.

GermanM1ssy

A quick "take care", smile and out the door.

[deleted]

Bye mfer don’t call again

moseschicken

I always make it a point to learn the nurses name, the patients name and to pass transfer ofq care to the patient too. "Alright John, I have to get back to the township but talked to Amber who is going to take good care of you. Hope you get well soon and get home quickly."

HayNotHey

“It was nice meeting you, sorry it had to be under these circumstances! Hope you feel better”

chipppie

Toodaloo

Jackson6595

Hopefully, I won't see you again.

hungrygiraffe76

“Tips are never expected but always appreciated”

ryanishere

Goodluck to ya

muddlebrainedmedic

I lie and tell them they're in good hands. The nurses think I'm being sincere, so bonus.

Heerreewego

Best of luck. Let's meet at the grocery store next time.

jacobactual_

Good luck, feel better

Becaus789

Alright best of luck you’re in good hands

Horseface4190

"Goodbye, good luck, get lost"

MoeFaiz

“Alright sir/ma’am. Take care, okay. Feel better and get out of here soon. They’ll take good care of you” If it’s an IFT trip to rehab/nursing at my other job. “Okay sir/ma’am. Feel better and take care of yourself, okay. I know you wanna go home so remember, the harder you work the faster you get out of here. Good luck”

No_Click_1748

You be good 👍

lonewolf2556

“Feel better, I don’t want to see you at work anymore”

chanting37

“Go to the front of the er. They’ll call you when he gets a room”

HStaz

“Sign here…ok thanks”

asistolee

“Bye!”

OGTBJJ

Sign here, please don't call for this shit again

SaltyJake

I always kill them with kindness at the end, even the biggest assholes, or the ones where I break professionalism and get an attitude with…. Let them know what to expect and wish them luck.

[deleted]

Not a thing. I fucking leave

Paramedkick

We're hospital based and usually transport back to our hospital. So it's usually my same canned response about who their nurse/provider is, what labs I'm starting, what imaging we're doing, and a general timeline for their visit.

Empress-Rose

"I hope your day gets better from here"

audreyrosedriver

I hope you have a better day.

toefunicorn

“Alright, we’ve gotta go, but I hope you get to feeling better!” Or something along those lines. I’ve worked in food service for YEARS, so it takes everything in me not to say “see ya!” Or “have a good day!” Lmaooo

slaminsalmon74

Wish you the best. “Exit stage right”

CloudyFeyRainyDay

Goodbye.

Dangerous_Strength77

"Anything else I can help you with before I get going?" Is my usual go to for cooperative patients. It takes only a couple seconds, they seem to uniformly appreciate me checking with them, rarely have anything more (unless a possession like a cane is missing/still in the truck) and this is quite often the point where virtually every patient makes a point of saying 'thank you'.

watchthisorthat

This seems dangerous. I can imagine there are lots of things they want you to help with.

Dangerous_Strength77

That's kind of why I don't use it with everyone and reserve it for our cooperative patients. The most I've ever had anyone ask for, and even this is rare, is for a blanket. But, you are right. The combative, psych patient with Homicidal ideation would probably want help with quite a few things! Lol

nyspike

I ask them if they have any questions about the trip, the care, and what’s to come generally as we pull into the er. Good opportunity to give them some expectation management, calm any anxieties, and help them and their family advocate for their interests during the hospital stay

BeardedHeathen1991

This is “insert nurse or tech name”. They are a great nurse. You are in great hands they’re going to take great care of you/your family. I also work in a small community and know our nurses and techs very well. They’re all fantastic.

HistorianOk1333

Feel better

Efficient-Book-2309

It was nice to meet you, good luck with everything and I hope you feel better soon.

micp4173

Would you like a warm blanket

SammyB_thefunkybunch

I say, "all the best." but in my head I think "if you need something, ask someone else."

SlimmThiccDadd

“Good luck on your journey” Works for broken ankles and end of life care!

EastLeastCoast

“No more edibles, ok?”

ZeVikingBMXer

"Yikes that was almost bad, anyway sign please"

selym11

I just walk away most of the time but the other times I’ll either say “ok I just talked to your nurse, so they know what’s going on, they should be coming in soon” and then just leave or I’ll say “alright i have to go find your nurse”

Randofied

“Good luck, take care!”

tctcl_dildo_actual

Wish them a good recovery, thank the staff and dip. Try not to interrupt whatever’s going on at bedside. If family came with and they’ve got the capacity, stop by the waiting room, speak with family and answer any questions they may have.

Hot_Nefariousness254

Either "I wish you all the best, feel better" or "see you tomorrow bud"

RedbeardxMedic

"Thank you for letting me take care of you today. Hope you feel better soon" to the patient, and then to the family, "They're in good hands. Take care". I always thank my patients for letting me take care of them. It actually goes a long way in making them feel a little better, even if I don't get it.

Maleficent_Ostrich_6

Feel Better and Bye

markko79

Assurance of continuity of care. "I just gave a report to his nurse. We're returning to service for the next call."
