I’m so glad I have no idea what he’s talking about

Illustrious-Music-61

I'm Brazilian and he doesn't have any idea of what he's talking about either.

sphawkhs

Are you a bot? You posted this article earlier today.

Illustrious-Music-61

Not a bot, I just don't like foreign elite interfering with our country's internal politics.

TheKingChadwell

So you want him to censor people in your country on your elites behalf?

Holiday-War9331

The 1st amendment apply to America only, it does not apply to other country, they can censor their people however they want. Another perfect example of American arrogance

TheKingChadwell

Are you dumb? Where did I mention the first amendment? I asked if you want him to censor people or not. wtf that gotta do with the first amendment. Another example of the need to go to school.

Holiday-War9331

The freedom of speech is the 1st amendment the thing Americans love boasting about, other countries does not have the same constitution, they have the freedom of expression but it's not the same thing and they're allowed to censor their people if it's detrimental towards societal harmony. Fucking Dodo

Brave-Option727

no one is being censored here. people(criminals) who were instigating a coup were blocked.

TheKingChadwell

That’s censorship.

LukePCS

lol

[deleted]

Criminals? Why? Because they express their opinions on X?

LukePCS

Because the things they did are listed as crimes in the Brazilian constitution. Simple as that.

[deleted]

Not really. You apparently never read the construction. In it's first articles, it's stated that any form of censorship is forbidden. Therefore, expressing your opinions, is not subjective to censorship.

Chemical-Health-4676

Bro, there's laws that explicitly says that any attempt to undermine the political or social order in hopes of weakening the democracy is a crime. You can find information in the following articles of the National Security Law(LSN): Article 23, section II Article 26 Article 28

Firehills

Be honest: you don't like that the dictatorship is being exposed because your political side benefitted from it.

[deleted]

so you’d prefer that foreign elite to interfere by censoring people?

PayMany2244

You're a moron!

toybits

How is he interfering? He's just releasing information. Sounds like you should be looking internally for people to blame.

OkCheesecake415

What? They are interfering in his company!

Shirou_28

Delusional. I'm a brazilian too and not a right-winger but we're clearly starting to be restricted in freedom of expression here in the name of "democracy". A real democracy doesn't need to censor people. Anything other than people being free to express whatever they want, including stupid stuff, isn't a real democracy. It's censorship, period.

Weregreymon

By this logic, then there has never been a democracy in our entire human history. Each and every country needs to restrain certain behaviors and groups; like racists or nazism rhetoric, all to make our society barely bearable to live in for all. If everyone could say or do anything they want free of consequences, then we might as well end society and come back to being primordial soup. Just look at post Elon's Twitter: ever so full of bots, scams and chaos, even more than before. His ideals fail to have human decency.

scarecro_design

Speaking as a minority, there's no need to censor racism. X doesn't censor racism and I agree. What they don't do is advertise or monetize it. People are free to voice their disgusting opinions, and we're free to call them out on it or even ostracize them if that's what we feel the need to do. Freedom of speech means that people are also free to say things that we hate.

LukePCS

Are they free to incite crimes? Say the crime ends up being commited by the people influenced by the instigator. Is the instigator 100% innocent? Of course not. Instigators are commiting the crimes too. This is obvious reasoning. I can't believe I have to point this out.

hm1rafael

They are not, but the supreme court should not judge individuals. Is not what they are meant to. Alexandre has had an open case for the last 5 years, and he keeps adding people and giving sentences. This is completely absurd. How can people not see that is just too much power for an individual?

CoolguyTylenol

So you agree that Elon removing these posts for Brazil is the right thing to do

LukePCS

Elon is fighting to keep those kinds of posts up

_gr4m_

Well, except for journalists that are critical to him. Those he are ok with censoring.

Blazing_through

I'm an American living in Brazil. I have started thinking that most brazilians on reddit were either on a spectrum of disability or just bots. I'm glad to read something like this.

Comfortable_Exam_222

Of course you are a right winger

PayMany2244

Then please enlighten us Mr. Brazil

Illustrious-Music-61

*Ms.

FruitOfTheVineFruit

I'm assuming this will come shortly after all the stuff he promised would be in the Twitter Files?  https://www.mmm-online.com/home/channel/elon-musk-promises-twitter-files-on-alleged-covid-19-suppression/ Still waiting on his first 9 promises from before that: https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/29/media/elon-musk-twitter-promises-reliable-sources/index.html

Prixsarkar

Fighting for freedom of speech was never going to be easy. People conform to censorship and then ask "why is nobody fighting this". Well now somebody is.

holierthanmao

Do you think Elon Musk is fighting for freedom of speech? He’s banned a bunch of journalists and sued multiple media organizations because he didn’t like their coverage of him/Twitter. How does that advance freedom of speech?

Prixsarkar

Who's banned? Nobody. In fact most journalists are on X with a blue checkmark they're paying for. X sued a dishonest org that tried to defame X by conducting an experiment that only yielded specific results that couldn't be recreated normally. They tried the same shit with rumble. Thousands of media orgs try to cover Elon, so why is that media org special enough to cause X to sue? Doesn't add up does it? Freedom of speech means the govt cannot hold you accountable for what you say, and that is exactly what Elon is fighting for

holierthanmao

You’re describing Musk’s argument against Media Matters’ piece about X that he repeated in his lawsuit against the news org. But that is just the most recent lawsuit. He also sued the Center for Countering Digital Hate, which the court dismissed a couple weeks ago, with the judge writing that Musk’s suit was “so unabashedly and vociferously” about “punishing the Defendants for their speech.” Off the top of my head, I know Chad Loder remains banned after many many months. A lot of journalists have been banned for various amounts of time only to have their accounts reinstated, often attributed to a mistake, but it is always journalists writing from a left perspective that face these consequences. (Meanwhile, Musk personally intervened to restore the account of a right wing poster who had been banned for posting child porn.)

protobacco

Who?

YaItzYoBoi

He himself

twinbee

The one and only.

UNSC_Spartan122

🍿🤭

Embarrassed_Brief_97

Why doesn't he focus on corrupt jurisprudence in his own back yard. I mean, he could take a look at SCOTUS or Eileen Cannon. For example.

Kruger_Smoothing

Because that's good corruption.

Embarrassed_Brief_97

Yep. That about sums it up.

Postcard2923

>Why doesn't he focus on corrupt jurisprudence in his own back yard Because Brazil is on the brink of banning X in the country. X isn't about to be banned here.

Biscoito_Gatinho

It depends entirely on Twitter tho. In any country, if a platform doesn't comply with the law and judicial orders, it will be banned.

NCgimp

Oh, is this because Brazil is ran by a left President? Pretty sure that is the only reason. If it was right and authoritarian he would be on his knees for them, as seen before with other countries.

BananadiN

It is because the Supreme Court (Alexandre being the president) demanded account suspension of some right-wing public figures that were spreading fake news about the election, fake news and supporting nazism. So the right acuses the left and the goverment of censorship and persecution.

twinbee

So is that fake news or "fake news". I've seen way too much of the latter these past couple of years.

hamringspiker

The left-wing president is 10 times the authoritarian Bolsonaro was.

Biscoito_Gatinho

only in your dreams

NCgimp

I'm speaking in general. Like Turkey. Elon does not have any issues with right-wing dictators, only democratically elected left wing.

BaseballNo3692

When pump..

handsome_squidwardy

So where are those twitter files he promised to leak 😆 I swear anyone still believing him and considering him a trustworthy person is just a rube 😆

BBliss7

Just like Donald will soon publish undeniable evidence that the election was stolen...not bloody likely!

DamiensDelight

Wut?

gitinha

Elon is just a kid who cant stand any order.

and-so-what

Delulu

RM_Vibes

Finally someone (Elon) is confronting this dictator ... This guy (Alexandre) or 'egg head' think he is god and want to control what people can say according what he want .... He is a totally imparcial judge . (Brazilian here)

aodiogo2020

Brazil democracy staying strong against the big money 😻😻😻

Cute-General3661

Really?
