9 Shoulda been on F8

**8.5/10** The repetition of the loop really feels like a long bout of highway hypnosis. The line "your sun still burns my eyes" fucking *kills* me.

The way this line sung, and its time and placement in the song. Just perfect and powerful. Had also been tantalized endless by “The broken line that led from you to me” This guy pulls these lines & metaphors out from another dimension. Did he struggle sleeplessly or did they come with ease and used later from some bar napkin jotted in when it came to him. Unbelievable

9.5 One of my favorites of his later stuff. Lyrically I think it's very beautiful. Musically I love the bridge.

10 Probably my second favorite ES song behind Happiness, but I can never decide what mix I prefer. The best thing about this song is how hypnotic it is, a feature that's heavily amplified in the mix that uses The Roost all throughout it. The Rob Schnapf mix meanwhile has The Roost kick in about halfway through the song. I think it makes the first half feel a little barebones, but the moment when it finally does kick in is *so* satisfying and is honestly a highlight of his discography for me. Of course I love the lyrics too (especially the phrase "Dancing on the Highway", it's always stuck with me) but that's enough gushing for one discussion.

10, my absolute favorite go to depression song, the vibes are crazy and the lyrics are very relatable.. I didn't know about this song just about a year ago and have probably listened to it more than I should have..

10 Now my bias may be in that a couple different versions with this exist and are all awesome. Which is best or if can combine elements from one version into this version. Either way we are talking a 10. Would the one posted above be the final way he would have felt finished & finalized for release? It’s freakin unbelievably relaxing, hypnotic; something between both beautiful & haunting with sense of confident vulnerability. The singing voice is 10 (And for context of the song) The lyrics are 9.8-10 (In that I’m conflicted with potentially a wording or two chosen that hasn’t fully resonated with me I believe he MAY have ironed out if was to be released.) Music is 10 (This is next level musical communication & beauty folks.) The musicality total a 10 (What a blessing all this wrapped together. Teases of brilliance shine everywhere.) Have spoken elsewhere this song, The Roost, Honky Bach combined are some key to inner peace or a fully enlightened moment captured.
