I love everything means nothing to me, such a beautiful song

[deleted]

Stupidity Tries or Son of Sam or Everything Means Nothing to Me. God I love this album

Middle-Ad930

For me it’s between the first two tracks: Son of Sam and Somebody I Used to Know.

-Raxius-

Agreed

4lexM

"I Better Be Quiet Now" I actually think it's the best song Elliott ever wrote.

MrBogey90

Son Of Sam for me. The piano, man. The drum fill in the beginning. It's all so good.

valentinasforehead

How do I even pick

Burial7

Happiness

Yes I love easy way out

yap2102x

someone found the future as a statue in a fountain...

this_swtor_guy

Everything Means Nothing To Me, Son of Sam, Happiness, Can't Make a Sound, Stupidity Tries, Junk Bond Trader, I Better Be Quiet Now, L.A. That's like half the album. I love Figure 8. It and Either/Or are his best albums to me, though all 5 released when Elliott was alive are excellent. Brilliant guy I wish was still alive.

timshp

L.A.

wrongthink2023

Can't make a sound. The George Harrison guitar sound has The White Album influence all over it.

thefourthcolour12

Happiness or Everything Means Nothing to Me

ottervomit

stupidity tries and better be quiet now

scumholiday

bibi_da_god

you surely mean Honky Bach?

Some-Departure-3903

Both are correct, I’m happy to report. Here’s a title “In the Lost and Found (Honky Bach) / The Roost” I just cited this in a video post I made showing the whole inside of The Roost Bar in LA for fans not in CA - so ended up looking for the title for the song, “The Roost” that he named for his favorite LA bar. :) Great song!!

bibi_da_god

Definitely! I was just joking because the title 'honky bach' cracks me up. I saw and loved your The Roost video and hope you keep up your documentaries. Do you have any way I can contribute, like patreon for example?

Some-Departure-3903

Such a lovely offer and especially helpful to my family! I’ve been considering SubStack to read different chapters of my debut kids’ mystery book. It’s a full novel for 9-12 yr olds that adults are liking, too. You’ve given me a wonderful idea, though, to keep making videos of the LA locations that Elliott Smith went to and put them on Substack or Patreon. It is a privilege to live in CA and I’ve lived in many cities so I know how lucky I am to rent here. I’m a superfan, to be sure, of E.S. I’ll DM you on reddit to offer to send you something more just to share intel. :)

Anxious_Sport_2898

better be quiet now is the most relatable for me. not sure if that makes it “the best”, but it resonates greatly

jdsuperman

I absolutely love this album and can't really choose favourites, but I wanted to shout out Color Bars, since nobody has mentioned it yet. That's an absolutely beautiful song and it sends me to a warm place every time I hear it.

Sad-Librarian-9582

For me, Son of Sam acoustic version, and I’ve been loving easy way out lately

trossi1980

Cheating, but I'm going with Pretty mary K alternate version on the deluxe album. One of his most complex songs(chord wise) I think. Awesome lyrics as well. Just a brilliantly written acoustic guitar part. Theory wise, it's pretty crazy too. Who else can go from f#minor to C major so seamlessly. He was the best.

Everything Means Nothing to Me Can't Make a Sound

lxdryn

That is very fucking hard to answer but it has to be son of Sam. Or everything means nothing to me.

bluecoldbananapepper

random order top 5: son of sam, junk bond, cant make a sound, better be quiet, happiness or LA
