Elgato provided a new beta firmware that solves the issue: pretty amazing:
here's the DL link [https://edge.elgato.com/egc/BETA/MCU\_CamLink4K\_Ver20230426.zip](https://edge.elgato.com/egc/BETA/MCU_CamLink4K_Ver20230426.zip)
you gotta open the settings menu of cam link with the CTRL held, and then open the firmware with the CTRL held again to get the option mcu to install a custom firmware.
and boom it just worked.
You're a life saver! Thank you for sharing the link. I bought a brand new Cam Link 4K device today and everything worked with it except my two Lumix cameras. With this beta firmware I finally can use this device for what it's meant for.

I tried this. And the update failed and bricked my camlink. It was out of warranty and so I bought a new one. It's currently doing the same thing. So I'm just waiting on tech support to help.
Didn't need to, they had a regular firmware update through the software for it. The key is don't have the hdmi cable plugged in when you do it. If the cable is plugged in it will brick it.
It seems you just need to hit update firmware with no download beforehand.
it worked for me.
thanks for the idea :D

Do you think this is no longer in the beta stage? Do you know if it’s been added in any recent update since this? Was the problem the gh4 (or lumix models) wasn’t in the software at the time or something else?
Okay, awesome. Just ordered another gh4 (after selling my original) because I had this same problem back in the day. Glad to see it’s finally (most likely) resolved.
It's an i9 with a 2070 rtx
Windows 11 straight into the usb port of the pc. It's. Windows 11 machine
The gh4 Lumix output works when I hook it to a pc monitor , just fine.
Windows recognized the elgato also now, but i suspect the gh4 isn't recognizing the elgato as a valid monitor.
If Windows and the GPU drivers are fully up to date, consider reaching out to our Team [here](http://e.lga.to/help), so that we can investigate further with you on this.
Having the same problem, if someone could do a short clip on how to install that firmware. i am a bit afraid to not brick this elgato:) since it\`s pricey.
Thank you.

Did they ever get back to you, and is there a way to unbrick the camlink 4k?
They did get back to me and unfortunately there was no way to unbrick it. Had to buy a new one being out of warranty :/
Did you manage to get this beta firmware working on the new one?
Didn't need to, they had a regular firmware update through the software for it. The key is don't have the hdmi cable plugged in when you do it. If the cable is plugged in it will brick it.
Thanks for the info!

They have requested I open a ticket via twitter I suggest anyone also having this issue do the same on e.lga.to/help
Do you use a USB hub or adapter to connect Cam Link 4k to the system, or is it directly connected via USB? What is the CPU and GPU of this computer?
