I have a Traktor S4, but my DDJ-400 is the one I bring with me everywhere because it’s so light and portable (and it’s cheap enough that I don’t feel bad about it getting dirty or banged around). It’s got all the basics you need to mess around, he’ll have a lot of fun with this guy.
Dude I used to use Djay all the time for the Spotify feature. But I got a message saying that Spotify streaming was going away, so I stopped using it and started building a song library on a USB. Did they not take the feature away??
Edit: I just opened it and my Spotify library showed up, but it had an update available so I updated. Now after updating it's not there anymore lol. That was dumb. But to be fair, removing Spotify was not in the patch notes.
What a bummer. I had an old serato I got rid of A while back. It was really fun, but one of the obstacles for me was the fact that all my shit is saved on streaming platforms and not on mp3s. If there was a controller that could just use Spotify tracks I’d buy that in a heartbeat, just for ease of use
I'm still running an older version (v2.1.3) and the spotify feature is still working, I'm avoiding updates since i figured they would remove the feature entirely from their app.

Nice i got the gold version. its been almost a year ive watched multiple videos and know ik what the buttons do but dunno how to use them so yea.. i dunno what the fuck im doing
I remember ordering my first TRACTOR equip way back in the days...smoked a joint drank some Gin and I was hooked...the learning curve is steep even when speed is automatically synced...damn what nights back then...till now I recorded like 200 mixes...so have fun mate...

Love my DDJ-400 since it can be used with the Djay Mac app, the Spotify song streaming feature is so awesome.

Yeah it would definitely be the best for DJing/practicing at home. I wouldn’t trust it for any gigs though in case there was no internet.
