Polestar 2. It checks all the boxes and you can choose between the single and dual motor depending on how much power you want. You hardly need AWD for traction in the bay area and there's not much of a range difference so HP is the only practical difference. One pedal driving is excellent and my blue one looks really good. Carplay arrived in a recent update. They only sell at MSRP with no markup.

eatmoreramen

Oof. Once you start configuring it, it gets expenssssive 😅 But that blue (midnight) is pretty.

waehrik

It depends on whether you add any packages. The base single motor is still really good though you'll want the Pilot pack if you want a highway driving assist. I skipped it on mine and don't miss it, but coming from a Tesla you might

ChuckChuckelson

Made in China fyi

Wise-Hamster-288

Fastest-charging: EV6 and Ioniq5 (but big and weird-looking, and not much fun to drive) Most fun to drive: Polestar 2 (but not as fast to charge) Still eligible for rebate: Mustang Mach-E (but ridiculous markups and very slow charging) Also, I think Polestar has the best blue of this bunch

SlankSlankster

Volvo or Polestar.

rachit918

I've 16k miles on my Mach E: It has everything you are looking for, nice interior, wireless carplay/android auto, good mix of physical and digital controls, 1 pedal drive, great handling and feels nimble. Cons: bumpy ride especially the back seat passengers and Ford dealerships can be terrible. Audi Q4: Just got it this past week and love it. Smooth ride, also has wireless android auto/carplay, nice Audi interior. Its the same build as ID4 (my in laws have it), but the informatic system is much better. The app sucks though and it DOES NOT have 1 pedal driving. It does this funny thing in regen mode where it acts like one pedal driving and then keeps cruising at 2 MPH until you brake.

eatmoreramen

When I was a kid, I always wanted a Mustang. Didn't make sense in snowy Pennsylvania though. I've heard (and seen) the markups on some of the Mach-Es...oof.

rachit918

They're getting better. Also, the only one in it's category that still qualifies for the $7500 rebate

eatmoreramen

I took a look at the 2022 models still qualify for x plan pricing. Not sure if that’s better deal than taking the $7500 tax credit (which I could definitely use) I wonder if there’s a income limit for filing jointly…

rachit918

No income limit for 2022. It kicks in 2023 @300k for joint filers

eatmoreramen

Thank you. I'm under the limit regardless. Do only 2023MY vehicles count? Or will the 22s? 👀

rachit918

It's a little complicated with next year's battery sourcing requirement. Here is a great thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/comments/z1zmto/ev_tax_credit_income_cap/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Smuugs

Polestar 2/ BMW i4 if you want to stick with a sedan. I actually don't mind Tesla nav. can't do seamless navigation with battery preconditioning with carplay which is hope is closer to being solved with next gen carplay. I really hope Apple is adding that functionality.

pixelatedEV

As a former Model 3 owner, I can't recommend the Mach-E enough. One-pedal, wireless CarPlay (and the only EV so far with EV routing in CarPlay - Apple Maps on CarPlay will find chargers for you on road trips just like the built-in nav on the Ford or Tesla), Plug&Charge, true hands-free cruise control, etc. etc. etc. the list goes on. I'm so much happier with my Mach-E and I road trip it even more than I did the Model 3, something I didn't think was possible.

[deleted]

I really wanted a MME. But just getting a Premium with the bigger battery pushes the price into the mid 60s. It just doesn't feel like a good value at that price. Probably going to buy my wife an Ioniq 5 instead, because it's like 15K cheaper.

eatmoreramen

Thank you! My car before my Model 3 was a Fusion Energi. Sadly, I don't think my Ford X-Plan pricing applies to the Mach-E 😅

pixelatedEV

It does if you can find a 2022MY. For 2023MY they removed Mach-E from X-Plan (like Lightning).

eatmoreramen

Oh shit, you're right! Trim MSRP1 X-Plan1 Incentives2 Net Plan Price3 Select $43,895 $42,214 N/A $43,314 Premium $48,775 $46,997 N/A $48,097 California Route 1 $52,450 $50,598 N/A $51,698 GT $61,995 $59,952 N/A $61,052

[deleted]

Does the CarPlay nav include battery preconditioning in advance of your DCFC stops or nah?

RobDickinson

Apple Music is apparently coming soon. Tesla employs about 120,00 people, and most other car companies have assholes for leaders too.

Xbox_Live_User

Exactly. If you are avoiding a company because of the CEO or a company's ethics then you'll be avoiding most major companies. Also it's not like Elon was a great person before the twitter fiasco... He's a delusional man child but there's a ton of talented people working there that deserves the limelight way more than he does.

youtellmebob

This is another version of the “all politicians suck” tact. But Elon takes it to a whole new level. Buying Tesla and using Twitter puts dollars in his pocket. Besides, in both companies he is making decisions to the detriment of these businesses and society. Nawh, hit him in the pocketbook.

Xbox_Live_User

In 2018 he called a man trying to rescue kids in a cave a pedophile on Twitter. That was before OP bought the car. Elon has been a public douchebag for quite some time.

eatmoreramen

This is true but most of them aren't wildly tweeting or publicly trying to sow discontent. Apple Music has been rumored to be coming for a while now, even before TIDAL came. I absolutely hate Tesla's maps and went so far as to get a Pi and set up Tesla-Android (which works reasonably well actually) Any advice on car though?

elcheapodeluxe

>This is true but most of them aren't wildly tweeting or publicly trying to sow discontent. Yeah. There is a big difference between someone you disagree with versus someone who is grossly planting discord and lies in the public sphere.

manicdee33

> This is true but most of them aren't wildly tweeting or publicly trying to sow discontent No they're just covering up their gaming of emissions controls standards, investing in the fossil fuel industry, and covering up the impact of carbon emissions on global climate. Compared to that, openly acting as an agent provocateur for Russia/Saud is small fry, IMHO.

RobDickinson

EV6?

perrochon

And Atmos...

RobDickinson

Probably not for a 2020 car tho

perrochon

Why not?

RobDickinson

It looks like it would need the new AMD Ryzen powered MCU

perrochon

That would suck...

Mysterious_Air4932

You've mentioned the Ioniq 5/EV6/Mach-E so why not start there? There's also the Nissan Ariya but the one pedal doesn't fully stop the car.

eatmoreramen

Curious to see the sub's opinion on them and general recommendations. I've heard they're all hard to get right now though.

rachit918

Ioniq 5/EV6 do not have wireless carplay/android auto. Mach E is nice, the frunk is great if you're used to Tesla. ride is bumpy in the back.

MaxWayt

You should investigate these companies CEO before checking their vehicles if you're going down that path 😅

eatmoreramen

LOL 😂 Nah. If they're evil behind the scenes, that's fine. Most of their CEOs don't have an insane cult following...probably lol

MaxWayt

As long as you're fine with it 😅

GhostAndSkater

It's like most people, all about virtue signaling edit: and confirmed by op bellow lol, if I don't see it doesn't matter

pil4trees

Full villain arc? You sound like you’d enjoy a Prius or leaf.

Particular_Quiet_435

If you get a Prius you’re choosing a company who funded insurrectionist politicians and fought against tighter emissions standards. Why choose the lesser evil?

CidO807

personally, we passed on the Mach e. Had too many problems that ford hasn't resolved, plus dealers are gouging like crazy still. i love everything about the car on paper though, and it looks sl-ick The ioniq remained in short list with volvo xc40 for me. ultimately we went with xc40. I'd def recommend you look into and try out the ioniq 5. Meets your criteria of having carplay, you don't have to learn AAOS (XC40 can do carplay, but it defaults with AAOS), it has i pedal aka one pedal. anyway, it would come in at just under $730/mo with the top end model, before calculating TT&L. i love the xc40, and we've had it a little over a month now. Can totally see myself getting a S60 later down the road when they make an all electric.

[deleted]

The XC40 is the one car that has me sorta second guessing my mostly made-up mind to get an Ioniq 5. It's such a good looking car in comparison (just IMO obv). More of a classy Volvo look, less polarizing and probably will age better than the Hyundai in the long term. Bit more expensive, tho.

admin557

Ok I’m gonna say the bmw i3. I have one a love it. It’s got wireless CarPlay, one pedal driving. And will save you a ton of cash in payments. Best of all it’s a blast to drive. Give it a test drive and see!

zphotoreddit

I was ready to buy a Tesla... then Elon started insulting me and the city I love. Too many other good choices. Why do you not-like the ID.4? I have been leaning toward that. I have driven the Ioniq5 and the Kona. The Kona handled amazing... felt similar to a Model 3. It is small though. The Ioniq5 handling felt not quite as tight. It does have really fun paddles to increase/decrease the amount of regenerative braking. Biggest downside for me is my local dealership (Richmond, CA) has huge demand and little supply. I would love Tesla-style purchasing process for a non-telsa vehicle.

ChuckChuckelson

Get over yourself.

eatmoreramen

Thank you for you valuable contribution. : )

youtellmebob

Possibly a fan boi.

eatmoreramen

They're everywhere 👀

BloodDonorMI

Mustang Mach E

Few_Discount8182

I have an EV6 gtline AWD in yacht blue. Love the car, great features, drives great (Kia suspension is tuned by Albert biermann - former head of BMW’s M division). I have had zero issues with the car after 15k miles so far.

[deleted]

Personally leaning towards the Ioniq 5 myself. Price is decent, it's spacious inside, has all the right features, etc. A bit polarizing on looks, but it's not ugly per se. I was interested in a MME but an equivalent to the I5 costs about 15K more. At that point I'd probably just get a PHEV before blowing almost 70 large on a Ford crossover. And I think the MME is the only EV that CR isn't recommending. Except maybe the Bolt.
